The Astrology Discussion Thread

I think modern astrology is definitely about self-examination, but back in the day, it was mainly about predicting major events, usually as counsel for a king or other nobility. Although, there are some modern astrologists and astronomers who speculate that the three wise men (who may have been astrologers themselves) were guided to Bethlehem by, not a true star, but rather an alignment of Jupiter (the planet of kings) and Saturn (the planet of the Jews) within the constellation Aries (a symbol of greatness). Nobody's really sure if that's true or not, but it is believed that that particular alignment occured around the exact time of Christ's birth.

In any case, I'm not much of an expert on astrological history, but about.com's astrology site should have enough info for anyone.
