I liked this movie quite a bit - the mixture of calm combat, dry humor, and lots of weather made this film hilarious IMHO. While a bit corny at times, maybe one of the things that I liked the most was seeing Sean Connery as an "I'm going to rule the world!" character that has a huge amount of self dignity. Either way this movie is good for a laugh and fits into the SFF genre well I think. :)

This is the first positive thing I've ever read about this movie. :p

Still, maybe I should check it out. It looks like it could be an enjoyable "laugh at the badness" movie, at the very least. ;)

I suppose not many people like it because it's incredibly silly. :p I like to watch this sort of thing after a really long week. ;)

I enjoyed this movie for what it was fun entertainment. Just what a movie should be :D

Still, it's hard to go against the likes of Patrick Mcnee and Diana Rigg as John Steed and Emma Peel. I remember growing up with the original series.

Unfortunately I never got to see the originals - I've heard they were funny though.

not sure how this movie fits into this forum, but I'll pass ;)

I met Diana Rigg a few years back - still awesome even at her age. Can't beat her in the original cat suit - especially considering the era it was made when women were supposed to be seen and not heard etc. She was the first real 'hard' women on TV.

    great stuff :)

Hey now, anytime you've got that much evil-weather-gonna-fry-the-world-mastermind stuff going on amongst a lot of gadgets and such it's gotta classify as fantasy. [face_talk_hand]

...of course, if you're serious about it not belonging we can lock it. :p

we just need to be careful what we allow, otherwise it will turn into a general movies forum. I think you can probably get away with this one

    Sort of, here's the synopsis:

British Ministry agent John Steed (Ralph Fiennes), under direction from "Mother", investigates a diabolical plot by arch-villain Sir August de Wynter (Sean Connery) to rule the world with his weather control machine. Steed investigates the beautiful Doctor Mrs. Emma Peel (Uma Thurman), the only suspect, but simultaneously falls for her and joins forces with her to combat Sir August.

I cannot stress how wrong you are in that assumption.

Watch the original series - the original series, not the 'second generation' series.
