curry was one of the only people to be a top 15 scorer, assist leader, offensive game win share and defensive game win share other than lebron and chris paul. couldn't let him go.

The previous 2 drafts didn't factor in postseason stats, so this one shouldn't either.

WhatIf's stats are consistent with ESPN's regular season stats.

what about someone who was hurt for half the year? is it based solely on averages?

Can't say for sure how it plays out in the simulation, but players are listed with per game stats.

Actually, this could be a "problem". Do we really want someone who, statistically, led the league in rebounds per game to be drafted when he only played 25 games? Maybe we should set some kind of minimum if the simulator doesn't take that into account.

yeah, that's why i brought it up. rondo and love are the most glaring anomalies but there are probably more.

The simulator appears to take injuries into account and thus decreases a players value in the system. Two cases in point:

I put Rondo and Love onto existing NBA teams, swapping them for similar talents. The teams that acquired Rondo and/or Love were beaten in most simulations.

Second, the dollar value/salary that WhatIf equates to those players in injury years is significantly lower than other years, even when per game output is lower.

Ah, the salary. A metric I hadn't been paying attention to. Consider John Wall: the price tag of 6M for his 11-12 season is halved for 12-13 despite nearly identical stat lines.

Is salary a factor here? I mean, do I have to do math?

DarthIntegral: Would an injury issue be a problem in the simulator if said injury (ie: Kobe's torn Achilles) happened right at the end of the season (game 78 or 79 I believe)?

I think the only reason injuries has anything to do with the simulation is because in all probability it takes games played into account. In which case I doubt you have anything to worry about.

LloydChristmas - No Salary Cap, so no need to worry about salaries. Just one thing that WhatIf throws in, mainly for paid games, where you do have to worry about a Salary cap.

Above and beyond that, it's just a guide, like any other stat, and nowhere near a be-all, end-all for player ranking/efficiency within the simulator.

DarthTunick - my guess is that type of injury has little-to-no impact. It would be just like if a guy sat a few games out
