goodness gracious me; being a commish was significantly easier today than it was yesterday. i'm glad to see that everybody's still here and rarin' to go. well, except for whiteeagle. but as of 9:19 p.m. board time, it will become ken kenobi's turn if whitey doesn't show up to make his pick and he'll be dropped to the bottom of the list.

i say this for the benefit of those that don't know the policy. i trust our rock-hard justice will be understood in the future.

Tough choice here ... I'm really debating between 3 people, but I'm gonna take the one that I think will be easiest to build around:

Jacen Solo

 

holy crap! jacen solo goes up in the middle of the first round. i can't say i argue with the notion, but it deffinately shows change and progress in GM opinion of character. this is the most drastic example i've seen, well that and all the thon hatin' out there. but actually, looking at that list, that is probably a prime time for jacen to get swept up. he's about that good, and i'd deffinately put him over anakin or dooku now... mace would be a hard one to judge, and so would revan. but we shall see who that young solo lad goes up against.

it's about time this draft got moving.

 

As the initiator of all things drafty, I must say that Jacen's being taken THIS high is a shocker. yes he's good, but he's not THAT good. He's a good mid second roudn pick, IMO.

 

I find your lack of faith disturbing...

 

I'm pretty shocked to see Jacen go this early, but I guess that's the result of the dark nest trilogy. I was expecting Anakin Solo
before Jacen though. Also I see Ben Skywalker is on the list. Will he be treated like Franklin Richards in the Comic Draft?

 

Shocking as it may be to see Jacen Solo going that "early", let me point out a few things.

Power wise, there are few that can match Jacen. Luke, definately. Beyond that ... probably Yoda, probably Sidious. Maybe Anakin.

Experience wise, there are few that can match Jacen. Leadership wise, I thought he was the best available (edging out Revan).

And, he has a natural connection to so many on the list, and has the ability to work well on so many teams. The versatility of teams that can be built around Jacen is much higher than the versatility of teams that can be built around Mace Windu. And, in a 12-team draft, you aren't going to win because your first round pick can do Vapaad. You're going to win becuase the team you put around your first round pick is a great team with great cohesion.

 

Hmm which way to go? I'll have my pick up shortly...

Well I thought for awhile and I decided to stick to darkside teams. With the first pick in the Bay City, MI Jedi Draft the resurrected Dark Lords of the Old Republic select Exar Kun!

He's strong enough individually he should beat at least 2 of those picked above him, and is one of the best leaders available in the Draft.

 

mexcellent choice, and surprising at that. i think four darkside teams will have a trying time establishing full teams in this draft, but it will be interesting to watch.
now, Polarius you have exactly 24 hours before you get ze bump.
