Imagine a world where Villains crowd the back streets of one of the world's greatest city's, and the only ones that can stop them is a group of Superheroes with powers akin to that of the God's. Sounds cool, right? Now, take that imaginary world, and remove the Superheroes...

    ATTENNNNNTION!

My name is General Hank Grill. Welcome to the real world, kids.

This ain't no fairy tale story. The real heroes out there are the men and women of the Enforcement Squad, risking life and limb to protect and serve the community, no matter the situation. A tough, well drilled team that's the last line of defence against the world's greatest criminal minds. You are that last line.

Now I'm guessing you came just for another quick thrill ride, right? A quick fix before the next big rush? Well I'll let you in on a little secret ... there's no training camp, folks. This is a no holds barred, in your face Role Playing Game that's about to change the rules.

So listen up. If you want in, you've gotta play by the law, and that's the GM's word. If you think you can go in all guns blazing, then you can kiss your sad little butt bye bye, understood? Play by my rules, survive the fools. Let that be burnt into your brains. If you've got a question, you ask me without hesitation. I don't want you running around like a blind bat, believe me it's as ugly as it is amusing. You can also consider God Modding a deceased distant uncle of yours, so don't even think about it. Trust me.

Right, let's get down to business. The Enforcement Squad is split into three teams:

    ALPHA - Reconnaissance.

BETA - Demolitions & Heavy Weapons.

    GAMMA - Stealth and Protection.

You will be joining one of these three teams, and unfortunately for me, it's my job to determine which team you deserve to be a part of. Now, here's the tricky part:

From here on in, your original identity is a thing of the past. No-one knows you, remembers you, and they sure as heck don't have any identification with your ugly mugs on 'em. We have 50 pre-determined ID profiles to replace them with. All you have to do is choose a number, between 1 and 50. You can either PM your choice to me, or post it right here for the rest of the team to see, if you're so inclined.

Once your number is chosen, I will reveal your team identity and recognition profile, along with any other important information that you require*, and assign you to your team. When that stage is complete, I will then assign you all your first missions. They can range from as simple as taking down an enemy stronghold to as difficult as buying your first lot of groceries. Believe me, in this day and age, the entire world is as dangerous as they day Dinosaurs were born.

    Right. Any questions? Good.

    WELCOME TO 'THE BEAT'

    * You read correctly, dear readers. For the interest of providing something fresh and unique, this RPG does not require a character sheet from any player. Instead, your pre-determined character will be written and designed for you, including abilities, personalities and appearances.

    - All you have to do is select a number between 1 and 50, post it here or send it to me, and your character will be selected for you from a pre-determined set. The challenge is to work with that character, learning his or her ins and outs, and working with your assigned team to complete your objective without casualty.

    - If two players select the same number, by accident, then the GM will simply ask you to select a another number in its place.

    - As mentioned above, please follow all the necessary rules and regulations of the NSWRPF. You should all be aware of what they are by now, so I trust you will do so.

    - If you have any questions regarding the above or anything else to do with 'The Beat', please contact me via PM and I will gladly fill you in.

Be ready for a change. Why? Hell ... it's about time.

    ATTENNNNNTION!

General Grill could easily have been mistaken for any other loud mouth, hard nosed leader. The truth was, that's exactly what he always wanted. The ability to scare the pants off of everyone just by opening your mouth was a unique skill, and extremely important when the entire world, nay, the Galaxy rested on you getting your point across to a collective bunch of airheads who simply wanted to get out onto the field and blow the hell out of everything.

"Alright. You've all been filled in on your respective roles in these teams," he began, hands firmly resting behind his back as a giant computer screen slowly rolled down to a rest behind him, "Now, here's your assignments. Wii!"

The 'Weldon Industries Intelligence Unit' (Wii for short, since Wiiu would be just weird), had been created by said Weldon Industries to provide both tactical and formal decision making and updates on the field. Each team member would receive a small unit clipped onto the ear that included a high definition camera attachment, doubling as a computer screen for any written information, Bluetooth and Infra-red data transfer connections between units and any compatible stations, and the ability to be upgraded as time went on. Oh ... and a stereo FM radio for those boring flights.

A male voice crackled to life over the loud speakers.

    ASSIGNMENT ONE: ALPHA SQUAD

Your destination is ... Los Vegas. Reports suggest that a small group of Super Villains, led by 'Derth', are planning to rig the high stakes poker contest to be held this coming Saturday evening. Your job is to infiltrate the Egyptian Lover Casino, recently constructed. One of you will be chosen to play the specific game that will be rigged. The rest of the team must take down the villains, secretly, as porters of the Casino. Silence is important, and bloodshed will be a last resort. The Villains must be returned alive for questioning.

    ASSIGNMENT TWO: BETA SQUAD

Your destination is ... Sweden. WII has uncovered information relating to a hidden base deep within the underground of this quiet, peaceful town. Your mission is to track down this base, destroying it under any means necessary. Your informant is 'Borris'. Find him and he will guide you. Any information you recover from the base, including details of known Villains and possible attacks on our peaceful planet, will be rewarded.

    ASSIGNMENT THREE: GAMMA SQUAD

Your destination is ... London. We have been requested to protect the Crown Jewels as it makes an appearance at a Gala Function, on behalf of the Queen herself. The Jewels will be armed guarded at all times, but the possibility of an attack by the 'Jewel Thieves of Arnock' is very much a possibility. Protect the Crown Jewels at all costs. Partaking in food or wine at the Function is forbidden.

Grill sighed. "Right, that's all for now. Your transports will be ready at 0800 hours. I suggest you get used to your teammates and ask any questions now while you have a chance. I will be available at all times in my quarters. Good luck."

    With that, the chatter began...

OOC: For the record, humour is an important part of this RPG, as you are no doubt aware following the retrieval of the Character Details. But as much as the above Assignments sound strange and un-startling, believe me when I say that is no reflection on what really will happen.

    IC - Pike

    Somewhere in Russia

The seven-foot-tall man known as Pike scratched his head, looking down at the floor. Get to know his teammates? It had the ring of something stingingly familiar: at school, when the teams were being picked for sports. Despite his height, Pike had never been much good at basketball. You don't get much practice time on a court when you bend the school's only ring out of shape in your first game. It wasn't that Pike meant to do it. All he did was jump one foot off the ground and didn't get his hand out the way before it hit the rim.

Pike blinked green eyes and chewed his lip. He was truly hoping for someone to talk to him. Historically, words coming out of his mouth unprompted had an order of probability somewhere around that reserved for large asteroids crashing into the Earth.

His hairy palm brushed his ear as it made its way down from the summit of Mount Pike. The Wii some assistant had given him twittered in his ear. Curious, he applied a sausage-thick finger to it, trying to get it into the palm of his hand to look at--

    Crunch.

Pieces of million-dollar technology tumbled into his open palm.

Pike looked around, feeling his face go beetroot-red. Maybe there was somebody around who had a spare...?

Las Vegas, huh? The man known as Viewt mused quietly in the back of wherever the heck the squads were being briefed, a room obviously that was full of eight or so members that had gathered around the ?tough-guy? General Grill. Haven?t been there in years, he thought, his dark brown eyes looked up at the ceiling as though recalling a good memory, good times in Vegas. Then, the soldier dismissed the thought.

?What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.? He whispered, allowing himself a rare smile. Then, that smile was gone, replaced by a mask of no emotion. There couldn?t be any emotions in this business. Not unless you wanted to get killed. He pressed the ?Wii? a little bit more into his right ear, hoping to get a little better sound. Viewt had gone a little deaf in his right ear after an encounter with a minefield in Iraq.

Some wounds didn?t go away so easily.

Viewt waited silently in the corner for his squadmates, arms crossed.

    IC - SD

Most of those who had been gathered together within the confines of the small yet detailed conference room had stayed silent. Perhaps it was a sense of nervous pride to wait and see who jumped in first before making a fool of themselves in front of the mass of strangers.

For SD, easily the youngest team member at 18, making a fool of herself was exactly the kind of thing she was good at. Apart from the occasional computer hack and whatever weapon she could get her hand on, if the need arise.

"So," she said aloud, sitting back in the fairly uncomfortable 'lecture' chair, chewing on her gum, "Word on the street is we're the last line. Pretty cool, huh? I mean, you know ... as long as we don't die."

Pexe let out a barking laugh as the big fella near him crushed his ear piece. His dark red eyes glinting in amusement from behind a scruffy curtain of hair.

He congratulated Pike with a big whomping smack on the back. "In Russia, you tell Wii what to do!" More laughter, loud and, from the looks he was getting, obnoxious. He didn't care. "But this is your first day on the job, no? Don't worry! Sweden is pretty this time of year - all white snow, saunas and leggy blondes in towels. We will probably find the base in two seconds, and spent the rest of our time putting together a wardrobe with an allen key."

With another laugh, Pexe looked over at his other teammate, the one who'd been identified as Frolix.

"What about you? You new to this? Or you old hand at these reindeer games." he asked in his accented English.

?London?? Gale moaned under his breath, ?bloody hell, why couldn?t it be the other side of the channel? The fashions in France are so much more palatable.?
He gave a little mental shrug, maybe I'll have time to visit Paris. It's not too far. Then moved to join his fellow team mates, despite their lack of fashionable accessories. Speaking of fashionable accessories? Gale grimaced as he eyed the Wii unit. Very slowly he brought the device to the side of his head and clipped it into place, shuddering visibly as he did so. He turned to the other members of GAMMA squad, ?can you believe they?re making us wear this? thing?? he asked, pointing to the Wii on his head. ?It?s shocking.?

Viewt figured he?d take the initiative this time ?round, especially when he heard a young woman, perhaps eighteen or nineteen, say, "So, word on the street is we're the last line. Pretty cool, huh? I mean, you know ... as long as we don't die." Viewt heard the large smacks of chewing gum between words. He approached the girl, who leaned backed in the seemingly unconformable lecture chair.

Good idea that I chose to stand, he mused as he glanced at the young lady. She must be the youngest here, he thought to himself again. She was young, perhaps a little too young. What the hell you talkin? ?bout? How old were you when you went to Iraq? A voice whispered in his ear. It, being the logic of his brain, had a point.

?Fun, huh?? He asked the young lady, arms crossing over his chest. ?I haven?t been in anything fun related to violence in a long time.?

    Triad

    Somewhere in Russia

Denim really doesn't keep out the cold--oh, hey. How long have you been standing there staring? It doesn't matter, so never you mind. I guess you can call me Triad, because it's just one of those deals that if I tell you my real name I have to kill you and stuff. More likely they'd kill me, but whatever. I still don't know how I got wrangled up in this mess...

So there I was, staring down the windpipe of some hothead General, as he told us about who-knows-what, I really wasn't paying attention because it was so damn cold! Anywho, turns out we're heading to London, and by we I mean myself and two other people. Not like I like traveling alone or anything, it's just having to put up with talking to some kinds of people that make me want to scream. Inside my head of course, I wouldn't want to be a nuisance to those around me. They'd be hounding me saying "What's wrong with you girl? You hearing voices or something?" and that would be enough to send me to the crazy house. I'm not anti-social; I'm anti-conversational.

Then General Hothead started handing out Nintendo Wii's or so I thought. It would've been cool to sit down and play with a Wii the whole time and get paid--wait are we getting paid? Damn. But yeah, get paid to play some video games, but turns out it's some wonky device that was a mini-multitasker with the ability to be a camera, computer, radio, and other junk. I wonder if it's compatible with my iPod...

So like I was saying before, we're off to London, and the damn toy is telling me I can't drink. Is that some kind of joke? I'm nineteen for God sakes. I can't drink yet... oh the rules are different in Europe? Ah okay, still it doesn't matter I don't drink anyway. Well, not anymore and I don't wanna talk anymore about it.

Then some dude scared the everlovin' outta me when he started talking about French fries to himself and then asked me if I liked my Wii. I couldn't be too rude to him, but I guess it was a bit late for that when I told him "Just... don't talk to me, 'kay?" I turned and pulled up the collar on my denim jacket and stuffed my hands in my jean pockets, struggling to get warm. Damn, why so cold?!

"We're quite lucky, you know." He said to them, scratching his short, dark brown hair after taking a drag of his cig. "Not everyone gets to protect the Crown Jewels of England. This is the biggest party of the year for the Queen, and to even just be in Her Majesty's presence is a real honor!"

"Oh, where are my manners?" He chuckled, flicking the ash off his cig. "You blokes can call me Sypher."

"Wait, so you've been to Vegas before?" SD teased, crossing her legs.

May I interrupt proceedings and direct you to the armour station, to your right, the now familiar voice of WII spoke up over the growing rumblings of conversation, Here you may use the provided VR stations to practise for your coming Assignments. Do be careful, however. An early injury could cause much embarrassment.

"Pfft," SD rose from her seat, "Why do I get the feeling that Wii thing is gonna become a HUUUUUUGE annoyance."

The armoury, through a fairly large metal door, contained many of the weapons the three squads would require. Small arms, hand-to-hand, semi-automatics, etc. Among the many familiar shapes lay a few new items that had not been seen before by any human (or eitherwise) eyes outside of the compound. One such item, the Kezler, had recently been added to the growing pile. It seemed like any old hand pistol with target sight attached, until upon further inspection, users noted the unusual markings near the hand grip. Those buttons allowed quick access to its other features: single round or burst fire mode; target lock using heat synch; and perhaps its most important feature, the addition of small grenades unleashed from a secondary chamber underneath the primary barrel. These tiny, pea sized explosive devices could easily blow a hole through any wall, be it brick, wood or steal.

Beyond that lay the VR stations, a number of small 'Neo' like glasses replacing the usual protective eyewear, providing a realistic firing range instead of the usual paper based replacements. What may be of interest to some was the score check, providing a full leaderboard for the simulation.

"Heaven" SD squeed, picking up a Kezler.

    Trip grinned.

Really, once you got to know the lad, this wasn't an odd thing to see. In fact, a grin fit Trip's face quite nicely. Certain notes in Trip's diary even claimed that his smile was shapely. These notes were well squiggled and from a simple glance Trip knew their authenticity to be in question ? as there was no reason for him to write such things. However, and this he did not tell a living soul, when he read this particular note in his diary, he liked to think that his cheeks must have nice curves.

The difference that this grin had to most other grins was the obvious nature of it. The look of his head ? from the squinting of his green eyes to the short crop of blonde hair nervously flying towards the ceiling ? had a distinct appearance of sheepishness. A quick look towards the ground revealed why.

    Trip had dropped his Wii.

This wasn't a significant event all by itself. Trip dropped many things. But on this occasion when the small earpiece unit had tumbled to the ground, it directly followed the loud announcement by the man in charge that all personnel would thereupon receive their assignments.

The funny thing about chairs is that when they're all lined up, the legs undoubtedly always act as conveniently placed deflectors. Trip had been sitting down in silence until this very moment, intent on taking in the information that General Grill ? he had even read up on what his name was ? was going to say. The young man figured that it would be vital to know every detail in order to lead his team. As, by default, he also figured that he would be the one to call the shots. Since when did people argue with the sniper who always had you between his cross-hairs?

By the time Trip had fumbled his way underneath the seat in front of him, bashfully apologised to some legs beside him, and finally acquired the fleeing mechanical earpiece, he was almost positive he had missed something important. The last thing he had heard was something about a casino. Attempting to casually prop himself up onto the chair he was now in front of, he came to the conclusion that the assignment which had been read out must have been for the Beta Squad. As, after all, casinos and demolitions go hand in hand, undoubtedly.

So when the briefing had officially ended and Trip found himself distinctly aware that he had no clue what his team's assignment was ? since he had then heard both of the other Squads' missions, but not his own ? he decided that he must not let that deter him. He had heard casinos mentioned; that was enough to proceed, he reckoned.

Now finding himself nearby a man who's laughter (was that slobber? Trip thought) and good-natured ribbing of a bear-man was disturbing to say the least, Trip quickly rounded the chair he had been leaning against and picked up his shoulder bag and walked briskly away. It looked like he walked with a mission ? but in reality he didn't know where he was headed. He didn't want to look even more embarrassed by asking the General what Alpha Squad's assignment was ? especially not after the glance he had noticed aimed in his direction during his adventurous crawl underneath the chair.

As he walked, he scanned the room, taking in all the details. He noticed a reclusive man in the corner with his arms crossed. He saw the quick flick of a pack of cigarettes appear in a different man's hand; the annoyed shove of hands into the jean pockets by another. The drawl of a younger looking girl's voice went unheeded at first ? that is, until he recognised that she was part of his Alpha team. I mean the Alpha Reconnaissance Squad, said a thought in his mind. It finished with a firm Sir! for added inward amusement.

The previously noticed arms-crossed man approached before Trip covered the distance himself. As he made his way up to them, the Wii startled Trip by talking into his ear. He jumped, tried to cover his tracks, and ended up dropping the device once more.

He grinned amiably, as if this happened a

"Wait, so you've been to Vegas before?" The young girl asked teasingly.

?Once - ? Viewt began to say but then he was cut off by the as-of-now-annoying voice of the Wii in his ear.

?May I interrupt proceedings and direct you to the armor station to your right. Here you may use the provided VR stations to practice for your coming Assignments. Do be careful, however. An early injury could cause much embarrassment.? The droning voice told him, and every other member of the squad, in their ears and over the intercom.

"Pfft,? The young girl said as she rose from her seat, ?Why do I get the feeling that Wii thing is gonna become a HUUUUUUGE annoyance."

I agree with you on that, kid, he mused to himself as he moved into the armory.

"This casino sounds adventurous, don't you think? I definitely think so," Someone said behind him, Viewt?s eyes peering over his shoulder. There was a man, young, with spiked blonde hair and green eyes. He looked energetic; perhaps excited was a better word.

The armory contained everything a soldier would need. Pistols, hand-to-hand weaponry, semi-automatics, everything. Viewt hadn?t seen this much weaponry since training, when he had witnessed a huge gallery full of weapons ranging from the martial to the exotic. But this totally eclipsed that moment. There were some weapons here that he hadn?t ever seen before. He chose, out of all the weapons, a diminutive handgun that looked old, almost antique. Interestingly enough, silver buttons lined the handgrip of the weapon. Viewt viewed the buttons and assumed that they allowed for a variety of special features.

A versatile pistol? He allowed himself a rare grin. That?s a first.

The young man with blonde hair and green eyes had followed Viewt and the girl to the weapons, obviously as excited as her. "I say, I wonder what sort of weapons we'll be needing to rig a poker game, aye?" The young man stated, then extending his hand to the girl and Viewt. "I'm Trip," he told the two. "This casino will definitely be fun and I'm sure we'll work well together,"

So, ?Trip? was a member of Alpha Squad. ?You can call me Viewt. It?s good to meet you, Trip? Viewt clasped the man?s hand in his own in a firm shake. His left hand deftly spun the handgun?s trigger through its fingers, into his hand which then inserted the handgun straight into a holster at his left hip, after his right hand left Trip?s own.

He peered over his shoulder at the VR stations with their ?Neo? shades.

Oh, this is new, he thought as he peered up at the leaderboard. He looked back at Trip and the young woman. Perhaps she was part of Alpha Squad as well. That would be most interesting if she was.

?How ?bout we get to training, huh?? He asked, offering them a rare smile.

To anybody who happened to be watching, it probably looked like the man beside Trip must have somehow knocked him over with his handshake. How, exactly, he would have done such a thing when not a single flick of the wrist was detected was another question entirely. Probably a question Kung Fu masters could ponder over while in their contemplating states of meditation.

But Trip didn't know if there were an martial artists in the room. And he knew that he certainly wasn't one.

Arms flailing for a brief moment at his sides as his body fell, he then brought them together in front of his chest. Hitting the ground with his hands first, Trip landed in what could be viewed as a very odd push-up. His elbows cushioned his fall enough that his young body didn't even touch the floor. Immediately pushing off with his hands, Trip bounced back onto his feet, his face flushed.

    He then started laughing.

"I say sorry, Viewt," he managed to utter with a cheeky chuckle. "It's my own welcoming gesture. I tripped." There was a pause as the one-man comedian offered a fake laugh at a joke he'd obviously told himself one too many times. "Tripped, geddit? You won't forget my name now I tell myself!"

The quick fall and exchange might have been a little weird to some, but Trip never tired of it. He was quickly composed though, his temperament and mannerism one could guess to be as fleeting as a humming bird's wings.

He hadn't even noticed if the girl with them had reacted. It didn't bother him either way. Adjusting his shoulder bag, Trip was the enthusiastic but calm young man Viewt had originally shaken hands with.

"It's good to see an Alpha Squad member, I must say, Viewt. Great to meet you," he said. Following the smiling man's gaze towards a different area of the armoury, Trip nodded. "I've never seen anything as advanced as that before! Do we really need to train with guns before our mission in the casinos, though? I can't deny that I'm just excited to get underway!"

As he finished, Trip had raised his hand again in a high-five gesture, pumped up about the mission. It hadn't even dawned on him that Viewt and the girl might not be so inclined to grasp his hand a second time.

Pike, embarrassed, said nothing as the exuberant team member next to him spoke. He was more worried about getting a new Wii.

He got up as surreptitiously as a seven-foot-frame allowed and lumbered over to a table nearby where they had additional million-dollar equipment, and took a Wii. He wandered back over to the others.
"Little bit delicate," he mumbled to nobody in particular.

0800 - Enforcement Squad Training Centre
    Somewhere in Russia

Attention! All squad members please report to transport hangar. All squad members please report to transport hangar...

The centre wide communication blared over the PA, drawing attention from ALPHA, BETA and GAMMA. Weapons training went fairly well for all involved, except for Pike who unfortunately damaged a number of smaller devices. Everyone had, to a degree, come to grips with the unusual forms of weaponry among the collection, and the test scores were impressive to say the least. But now the real world beckoned, there wasn't any more time for practise. Make a wrong move here, and it's game over. Period.

The transport hangar, within the west wing of the compound, comprised of three E1 Fighter Transports. These large aircraft had the ability to carry both light and heavy vehicles plus crew, and any other equipment needed, while holding a maximum speed equal to that of any known fighter jet and carrying it's own set of defensive and offensive weapons systems ... just in case. There simply was no equal, hence the need for secrecy about it's origins. If anyone got their hands on the designs, World War III would be complete within a matter of minutes, never mind the nuclear.

All three teams were met at their respective craft by their pilots. Captain Ace McCracker would jet in Alpha Squad, Captain Liz Raven Beta, and Captain Red Biggs Gamma. Along with the Wii, they would be on call at all times if the need arose for evacuation or backup.

The General, as he always did, stood in front of all involved, proudly I might add. With a smirk, he stuck a cigar firmly within his teeth.

"You have a go teams," he said in his booming voice, "Go kick some bee-hind."

And with that, the game began...

    ALPHA SQUAD

    Destination: Los Vegas, USA
    Arrival Time: 2015

Firebird 1 touched down gently along the outskirts of the dry, dusty wasteland just beyond Los Vegas, cloaked so as not to attract any unwanted attention ... beyond a number of small birds hanging around nearby. SD was the first to find herself out on the field, followed closely by Nimh and Vewt. The air was cool, perhaps cooler then usual for this time of night.

'Alpha Squad, your contact within the Egyptian Lover Casino is a security guard named Chigs. You must make contact with him as soon as possible in order to infiltrate the Casino without any problems. Unfortunately, Wii has been unable to contact the gentleman by his designated contact number. Find your way to the casino and Wii will continue to attempt first contact'

"Wait," SD frowned, "What if you can't make contact?"

'Then Wii will designate a secondary mission objective'

    "Which is?"

'Wii is unable to comply at this time'

"Great," SD tapped at her ear, "It's annoying and stupid."

The initial problem was soon ignored as Alpha Squad headed out towards their destination. All three were wearing customary outfits, tailored to conceal their weapons of choice without it seeming obvious that they were hidden. To a normal human's eyes, they were three travellers from the East. New York, in case anyone asked.

All three were soon consumed by the sparkling atmosphere of Los Vegas at night as they walked within its domain. All the usual sights and sounds folded in around them, consuming their every thought. It was a shame that there was no opportunity to take advantage of it all.

'Wii has detected our contacts whereabouts. Turn right at the next street'

"Got it" SD picked up her pace, reaching the corner and diving in. Perhaps that wasn't such a good idea, in the scheme of things, but as she was the girl who threw caution to the wind, it didn't even figure in her plan of action. The alleyway itself wasn't all that dark compared to those of the city they claimed to be from, and there didn't seem to be all that much around ... until further down the path. Within a pool of crimson ooze, the dead body of 'Ch

"Borris, ma cherie, how could I forget a face like yours?" Pexe said, bowing slightly from the waist before the imposing woman in the rocking chair. "But what could you possibly...no, it is no matter." he interrupted himself, going to take the woman's hand in greeting.

'Please await bioscan results before making physical contact' the Wii chirped in his ear, prompting a frown darken the usually easy going face. Pexe's red eyes glinted, rubies in a fire, before he carefully adjusted his expression back to neutral.

"Well, mes amis," he said, looking back at the team. "It looks like we're not here to enjoy the countryside. We should fan out, and ..." he took a deep breath, taking in the air. "...see if we can't smell out any trouble. And you Borris, you will tell us where the evil, bad guy base is, yes?"

OOC: Regrettably, I have to withdraw from this game due to my lack of activity and some pressing matters IRL. My apologies to everyone. It's been a fun ride.

OOC: I'm just letting anyone know that this game is officially closed. Thanks go to all those who had a keen interest and those that, in some way or form, took part. I'll resurrect 'The Beat' at a later date once I've ironed out the problems and worked on my writing skills. In the meantime, I've got a more streamlined idea about to be born, so keep an eye out for it.
