    Tonight's results.
    Richie posting mindless cliches.
David Moyes is the manager of Manchester Untied.
Manchester Untied spending 65 MILLION on two number 10s when their best player is their number 10.
Manchester Untied giving David Moyes TWO. HUNDRED. MILLION. POUNDS. Rather Than get shot.
This thread being a bit quieter than it has been for years (at a guess ;) )

reports saying Rooney is about to sign a new £300k contract.

that's too much money for a player who i predict will drop off considerably in the next few seasons, and who messes up our entire formation, particulary if Moyes continues to play him where he is at the moment.

Agreed, epic. Personally I'd be looking to sell Rooney whilst you can still get a decent amount of cash for him. His wages are extortionate and he's turned into Billy Big Bollocks, holding the club to ransom season after season to get a better contract. Now he's going to be made club captain? Ridiculous.

i think he would have gave the penalty if he hadn't already given the other one. no logic, i agree, but this is what ref's do.

Sturridge had enough chances to put the game away, though. seemed to want to go around the keeper on every occassion.

Re; Rooney. The longer the contract, the bigger the fee. Contracts mean nothing except more money when it's broken.

Well, that was a fun weekend.

One of the more amusing things about Mourinho-watching is that he can certainly dish it out, but he sure-as-hell cannot take it back.

Bullies always love it when you call them scared.

    el. oh. el.

Rooney contract is amusing if CL is not achieved.

Based on what? Mourinho is the epitome of taking personal comments from other managers. He's adept at taking the focus away from the team after a bad game leaving them to get on with it. Chelsea play well, he praised the team. They play bad, and he will detract from that. You didn't see Brendan Rogers saying the better team won.

I mean based on his raging personal diatribe regarding Wenger—'specialist in failure', etc—and his subsequent follow-up.

Dear old José has been handing out the mind games for the last two weeks now, trying to rile The other top three managers; Pellegrini rises to it and regrets it; Arsène throws a little mind game back his way (where he doesn't even mention Chelsea or Mourinho—although of course that's who he was referencing) and the Portuguese goes raging off the deep end.

    It's funny.

OK, so my brother is a HUGE soccer fan. So I wanted to pick an English Premier League team to root for so I won't be completely lost when he starts talking about soccer. :)

I've narrowed it down to Arsenal and Aston Villa, and am leaning towards Arsenal, but I just want to know if I'd be considered a bandwagoner if I started rooting for them?

    Yes.

Choose Villa. The reason is the great Darren Bent.

As good as Man City have been this season, is it really likely they could cause an upset and beat Barcelona in the CL?
I think it could end up being more even than some might think, but ultimately Barca will still get through

Honestly, I think the upset would be Barca going through.

following Arsenal isn't bandwagonning - they haven't won anything for 8 years. just don't pick City or Chelsea. or United, i guess.

i think talks of Barca's demise have been sorely overplayed. think they'll comfortably get through City, particularly as City are without Aguero. Barca have still been pretty damn good this season, and of course, Messi is back.

They're at the best they've been this season, but they've still looked ropey. They weren't convincing in the group stages and against a strong attack like City's I could see their defence crumble.

It depends how effective their game plan is. We know from the Chelsea game in the PL that City hate being hassled on the ball, that is something Barca are very good at. If they just sit & pass it about City will get tired running after it.
That being said though, City play more like Bayern who currently are a better side than Barca, if you go at the Catalans with enough attacking power they can be got at.
But City are not always defensively sound either. If this becomes a "score more than you" match it could be great
