    Yep, it's all I know!

dig, did you grow up in Liverpool, or how did you become a supporter of the club?

sj, United fans are nowhere near as bad as City fans. Or you could just direct the distaste at Manchester in general and you'll be fine.

Hopped on at the height of the glory days in the early eighties. My parents didn't care for football, Liverpool were on a lot and I adored Ian Rush. But I was five, so have an excuse ;)

But I also love the city. If I were to live in England again, it would be in Liverpool.

Heels, the best thing to come out of Manchester is Karl Pilkington. So yeah. Maybe it's just the city in general.

City brought the PL trophy to Kansas City, though, and I was more than happy to go see it. Then a friend of mine just won a City fan contest for best fan story because he wore his City kit all through chemo treatment and his local City fan group supported him. The team flew him out and did all this stuff for him.

And yet, I still hate them.

And you hate the city because they encourage brothers to finger their sisters and they can only count on their fingers. Which means they can count to twelve.

No need for that. I was five. Geography meant nothing.

i can't tell whether this is a dig at other chelsea fans like halbut or a dig at me supporting united just as they got good? but then it is a monday and i need a coffee. in any case, my rationale for supporting United is that there wasn't any (to my recollection) premiership football coverage in australia until the premier league started, and even then it was like an hour highlights show every week. so pretty pitiful. but from the limited viewing available United easily stood out. also, Cantona.

but Marcus is right. the equivalent to the Yankees would be Real Madrid

It's common for fans of long successful teams to be a bit arrogant. Heck Liverpool fans still can be and their team hasn't won the league for over 20 years.
I don't think a lot of United fans are as bad as people say. I can't remember the last time any fan brought up the Treble for example. As the ultimate achievement we could bring it up every week like jerks, but we don't.
It's far worse for fans of teams who bought quick success like Man City to now be arrogant jerks when they were mid-table nobodies 5 years ago & still would be without oil money.

It's quite clear from this thread that Liverpool fans are the worst.

Looking forward to tonight. Fabregas and Costa had a good pre-season. Hopefully that will continue. A win by 2 goals puts Chelsea top.

EDIT: William Hill have Victor Moses to score first at 9/1. Worth a punt I think...

Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Fabregas, Matic, Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard, Costa.

    Very strong side there.

Indeed. Without City's injury time goal, there were no 2 goal wins.

But you can never tell with a newly promoted team.

That said, Mourinho has an excellent record for opening games. I just hope it continues.

Should have been a penalty. Wasn't convinced at first but the replay showed him fouled.

Bit peed off about that penalty shout cos I have a bet on a red card. Now I'm hoping that the Burnley defenders will wind up Costa.
