With the last FIFA Presidential election now being called into question, it would take one hell of a corrupt society to continue with the election on Friday.......

 

You just know there are a ton of sports writers hoping Blatter gets rounded up as well, because they've got a "Golden Boot" pun they are dying to use.

US Bribery Laws.

 

Lots of US parties involved. Lots of deals made on US soil. US companies being forced to accept conditions. There's a laundry list of reasons. But, the FBI's involvment is a big reason why the accused are only from CONCACAF and CONMEBOL.

 

In other news, FIFA 16 is to include women's football.

 

Well, it's Swiss authorities looking into the two upcoming World Cups. No doubt heavily coordinating with the FBI.

If the FBI do turn this into a RICO case, which seems likely, some people are going to sing like canaries. With RICO, not only is there jail time, but all assets are seized. I think maybe even before a guilty conviction.

 

Blazer basically got caught for tax evasion with respect to all the bribes he received (he had two apartments in Trump Tower - one for his cats!), faced with prosecution, he started singing like a bird.

 

Supposedly any misuse (corruption pratices) involving the US Dollar gives DoJ the authority to investigate anywhere in the world. Joys of being the reserve currency.
