The South American Champs also have league fixtures this week, so they will field a youth team at home while the main team travels to the Orient.

Terrible Idea: Infantino talking about a 48-team World Cup with 16 3-team Groups.

I realize i need to resign myself to the fact that the perfectly formatted 32-team World Cup will be going away, likely for the 2026 World Cup. But, can we at least get a good idea to replace it? I find the 16 team Knockout tournament better than the 3-Team Groups idea, and that's saying something, but that's still a bad idea. Don't really want 10 Groups of 4 or 8 groups of 5, either. Though, at least in 8 Groups of 5, you can keep the 16-team Knockout Round. But, you lose final group date simultaneous kickoffs.

 

Nice fight back by Dortmund to tie in Madrid and win the group. If they can keep Reus healthy, watch out.

 

I was gonna say... I did tell you all this was the year we would finally win the group. But naturally that's just going to result in misery anyway. Only Arsenal...

My brother often laughs at the fact that I could have picked any PL team to support, and I still picked essentially the Chiefs for some reason. I guess I'm a glutton for sports misery

 

Spare a thought for Diggy though, Liverpool haven't won the league since 89/90 after all...

What do you think? They lose 5-1 in the opening leg, then get a gritty 3-0 on the return leg to give their team hope that the guys are learning how to play in Europe and will do better next year?

 

I don't think that high a score. 3-1 loss in the first leg, 1-0 win in the second, while having a penalty denied and hitting the post.

 

Bayern have not looked good this year, they're definitely vulnerable. But it's Arsenal.

Regardless, I look forward to double posting about it.
