Why has it taken so long to replace him?
Because he's one of the last of a great generation of high quality passing midfielders.
They don't exactly grow on trees.

Matic is a good player, but his passing range is limited.

Well, this season was a total waste.

Complete regression Vs last season.
Unacceptable for a club of the size United is and the investment put in.

No benchmark to build from, players so inconsistent.
If Bailly wasn't injured why didn't he play? He's much better than the other defenders.

Serious improvement needed next season, or José has to go.

Fair play to Chelsea, they used the Mourinho style to get it done.
Unfortunate that Conte may be fired despite doing better than United & Spurs.
Although maybe he'll just walk

Last season we got CL + 2 trophies.
This season CL + nothing

Wasn't it you who not so long ago (last week) said top 4 was everything?

 

The world cup is off-season, should be far more entertaining than this season has been.


Top 4 is important to club directors & in many ways financially Vs a domestic trophy & attracting top players.

But big clubs win things.

Top 4 and no trophy is nothing, just makes you one of the highest losers.

Chelsea now > Spurs & United. And Liverpool if they don't win CL Final
