    How ya'll doing today?

    This thread based on the big little book of Irish Wit and Wisdom will bring us everyday of the week, 7 days a week that's right, and everyday of the year a new saying, thaught or whatever we feel like putting in here that is related to the Celts.

    1st, I'd like to point out the Celtic tree right behind our Logo, as you can see... or not..

    And now for the first toast:

    May you have warm words
    on a cold evening,
    A full moon on a dark night,
    And the road downhill all the way
    to your door.

    Here's one I actually came up with a couple of days ago:

    When Patience you lack,
    Your belt will probably slack.

    I'll tell you the story eventually, but for those who might have heard, yes I decided to post this one today partly because my main hard drive blew up, and my secondary one might give up soon...

    And today's saying:

    There are three kinds of men who fail to understand women:
    Young men, Old men and Middle-aged men

    :D

    Not that it was a Celtic saying of any kind, nor Irish or Scotish for that matter, but here is today's saying as said trough the mouth of a great Scotsman:

    The greatest thing, you'll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return.

    for it is so true that in these words Love itself seems less "tyrannesque"

    May you be in heaven a half hour, before the devil knows your dead.

    here is something I came up with again.

    morning: 7:00 to 18:00 hours
    Afternoon: 18:00 to 23:00 hours
    Evening: 23:00 to 3:00 hours
    Night: defined somewhere between 3:00 and 7:00 but really happens whenever you can get to sleep.

    Not irish, Cayuga Iroquis, but still sorta fits...

    Should Father Sky Look Down, and Send You Rain When Your Longhouse Is Open To the Stars, See Fit To Praise Him Because Now Your Crops Will Grow.

    I am the Voice of Bob and here is my statement:

    May the face of every good news, and the back of every bad news be towards us.

    speech is given to three:
    To the historian poet for the narration and relating of tales,
    To the poet-seer for praise and satire,
    And to the Brehon for giving judgment

    I would have changed the later for:
    And to The voice of Bob for giving Judgment, but I would have had to switch the historian for Darth2-D2 and the Poet-seer for Ducker so I decided to keep it to the good ol' law of the Irish.

    Probably not celtic, but I liked it and it went well with a topic back in the TO forums:

    Happy is the student who like the river can follow it's course without rising out of his bed.

    :D

    it sounds better in french, but I thaught I'd give a shot at translating it.

    Light shine upons you;

    May in Chaos,
    You find order;

    May your heart be comforted by friends
    When darkness gain on your life

    sorry.. I was feeling kind of down this morning.

    It doesn't matter what brings a person,
    It's what this person leaves with that count.

    And for those who wouldn't get it, it's all about learning lessons. :D

    when you get up in the morning, you cannot tell what will happen during your day, BUT at the end of the day you will have grown some part of your mind or spirit.

    The older the fiddle,
    The sweetest the tune.

    This can be true about a great many things,
    The longer a friendship last, the stronger it grows.

    May there always be work for your hands to do;

    May your purse always hold a coin or two;

    May the sun always shine on your windowpane;

    May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;

    May the hand of a friend always be near you;

    May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

    For the Irish:
    Nollaig faoi shean agus faoi shonas duit agus bliain nua faoi mhaise dhuit!

    For the Scots:
    Nollaig chridheil agus Bliadhna mhath yr!
