I'm wearing my green flight jacket. Well, I wear that all the time, but let's call it a celebration today.

    Happy St Paddy's everybody! [face_good_luck]
I'm unfortunately not doing anything, cause this evening is the only time I'll have to finish Doctor Aphra costume before next weekend's WonderCon.

No. I'm 1/8 Irish and hate most Irish food.
My celebration was paying a colleague to chainsaw tree debris so my husband and I could clear the yard after a week of having to stare at the chaos. That was actually fun :p

DId you do anything, @Jedi Knight Fett ?

    COOL!!!! Good luck!

I celebrated St. Patrick's Day quietly - I am 26% Irish, but still have no idea where it comes from though.

And I think I'm going to go broke - there is a new pop culture shop set up just down from Northlands Mall in Christchurch and it sells everything to do with Star Wars. Hello new shirt and figurine collection!!! *_*

I'm like a 16th Irish as far as I remember. i think the only tradition my family did was occasionally dyeing milk green. Does anyone else do that?

No idea how much Irish is in me, my Grandmother was Irish, she died when I was 4. She used to hang with the Gypsy's....but that was when she has a a young girl. Mum said she wore a large gold bangle oh her upper arm most her life, but my cousin was playing with it after she passed and consequently lost it. That's about all I know.

No. My family didn’t even ever want to dye eggs green.

While my Irish side has no anecdotes connected to them, man are my Italian family racist as all get out towards Romani. Like my sister was staying with them and she went out to get flour at like 5 pm and they were like "Oh no be careful, don't talk to anyone cause they may be Gypsy's and kidnap you" same bull was told to my dad when he visited when he was little. You can take the country out of fascism, but you can't take the fascism out of the country I guess.

Not to get too political or personal, but sadly my dad has got a lot of that xenophobia from his family, Interesting since conversely my mother's father who is also from italy, does not like to wear red ever, cause he was forced to when Mussolini would drive through their area. Interesting how people from the same area can still be affected by something decades later, and yet be affected in the exact opposite ways.

I hope that does not violate the political rules, just wanted to get some of that off my chest, and I think we all share disdain for the treatment of the Romani.

edit: wow for once I actually caught my effect vs affect mistake. Ohh there's a question for everyone: biggest blind spot/weakness grammatically? Personally I overuse commas

Anybody see the movie "Unbroken?" There's a sequel coming out, with a different actor playing Louis Zamperini.

It focuses on his post-imprisonment recovery, how he suffers from PTSD, and more about the development of his Christian faith.
