Amph The Bourne Series (Identity, Supremacy, Ultimatum, Legacy, & Jason Bourne)

Matt Damon is ripped.

 

Legacy is not really worth watching, IMO. Correct, Renner does not play Bourne. He plays another agent. Some of the same actors from Bourne Ultimatum are in Legacy, basically playing those characters during the Ultimatum timeframe, but Damon is not in it except that his face is shown on a TV report about Jason Bourne. That's why I said Legacy was a side story in the same universe. The more direct continuity will be Identity, Supremacy, Ultimatum, and Jason Bourne (but it appears to take place quite a bit after Ultimatum).

 

Oh sorry, I meant why Jason would come back for this story that's being told now. Fam saw it, said it was decent, but not something they were totally gung ho about others seeing.

Legacy ain't bad for a side story.

 

I liked Legacy more than Supremacy and Ultimatum.

 

I do enjoy these movies though I did not see Legacy. A local radio host summed up the films though: "We gotta get this guy!"

 

This looks... just like all the other Bourne films. No doubt Matt Damon will force Jason Bourne to be inadequate next to James Bond carry existential liberal guilty for everything that happened ever.

I mean, Spectre looks better.

 

But Supremacy had Karl Urban!

Ultimatum was good to a point but his "homecoming" feels off to me. I didn't care for it so much.

 

Yeah, I thought Ultimatum was great except for the big shocking reveal at the end that he stopped being David Webb and became Jason Bourne because... well, just because.

 

Based on what I saw in the trailer, the new film is really missing Oliver Wood, the cinematographer for Supremacy and Ultimatum. He was brilliant, and the cinematography was more art film than blockbuster. Wood went against convention on several levels, particularly with his lighting and composition. My last viewing of Ultimatum was just over a month ago, and it was the first time I had seen it since I got into the visual arts in the way that I am now. If the glimpse we got yesterday was any indication, the visual aspects will be taking a big hit.

 

Wonder why they didn't call this movie, The Bourne Betrayal

 

Probably because they wanted to highlight the fact that Jason Bourne is back and starring in the movie. They really wanted to let people know that it wasn't Arron Cross from less well received The Bourne Legacy.

 

Matt Damon at 45. The tock is clicking on action rolls. Try to hold off that appearance in an Expendables sequel for as long as possible.

Bourne did not need to be a franchise. There's only been one good movie in the series. All but the original are nearly unwatchable.

 

Legacy was dreadful. All it was (from what I remember) is Renner running around yelling "I need my chems!" while Edward Norton is sitting in a room twiddling his invisible mustache.

 

Sums up the movie pretty good
