Foreman vs Lyle is also a fun one to watch. EDIT: oops, wrong thread. Thought this was the Punching Discussion Thread.
See, I don't know whether or not I agree with Steele stopping the fight. I think hindsight is always clearer, and everyone can agree that Meldrick Taylor, by that point, was completely *ubar.
Blatant robbery in the Williams/Lara fight last night. And Chris "The Nipple" Arreola is reportedly up next for Wlad. That could be entertaining.
I don't think Arreola has the skill to beat Wlad or Vitali. There was a good article about how he is an arm puncher, who doesn't use his core in his power shots.
How in the hell does a top-10 ranked heavyweight boxer not grasp the fundamentals punching? This is why boxing is dying.
Has a lot to do with his training/lack there of. He lunges with all of his hooks and looping rights. I think it was Kevin Lole who wrote the article, or it might have been on boxingtalk. I hope he doesn't fight Wlad, last time he was beat, Arreola went Oliver McCall and cried, literally.
So I guess Haye is done for? Looks like the heavyweight division will be crap for a good while I guess.
Floyd Mayweather Jr just proved yet again he has no class and is a thug. Another black eye for boxing.
LMAO Regarless of what happened int he fight this is Floyd Jr showing what an ass he really is. Larry's response is great! I did not see the fight but I did see the clips of the headbutt and the restart and the hug and the hit after. I don't know what the ref was looking at but he should have been looking at the fighters. Meta-thinking on this it should have just been stopped, let Ortiz recover, then lecture both fighters and then restarted. Again though, I have no idea what the ref saw.
I don't like Mayweather but... if someone is gonna fight dirty and headbutt, they shouldn't be shocked if their opponent starts fighting dirty as well.
Ortiz forgot the basic rule of boxing :"Defend yourself at all times." Still dosen't make Floyd less of a scumbag.
I was more upset with the post fight interview than the cheap shots. Classless act by going after a man of Larry's stature in the sport. Yes, the reponse was fitting.
[image=http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/7502/1316324037520.jpg] Forget Pacquiao vs Mayweather. This is the fight I wanna see.
I disliked Ortiz more... Is he still smiling? But, yes, Floyd is a punk.... In the same week, Kevin Iole and Burt Sugar were on local Radio sports shows where I live. They basically said what Bob Arum and Freddie Roach have said for the past year.... Manny AGREED to Olympic testing...But Floyd demanded 50 million dollars up front....before PPV money added in!! Floyd intentionally priced himself out of the fight. Burt Sugar said he doesn't think the fight will happen. Interestingly enough....a man who has every reason to not flatter Manny....Nacho Berestein....said he has never thought Pacquiao has taken PED's...
I recently got title bout championship boxing. Basically a simulator that puts any two fighters from different eras . Fights I've done so far: Alexis Arguello vs Floyd Mayweather Jr at 130 (Arguello 7th round TKO) Mike Tyson vs Ali (Ali UD) Tyson vs Foreman (Tyson 10th Round KO) Larry Holmes vs Lennox Lewis (Holmes UD) You guys want me to do a fight in particular.
Yeah... Mayweather vs Pacquiao ...lol you can give us the fight we want! Also... Bowe vs Lewis Holyfield vs Frazier Aaron Pryor vs Mayweather There are so many....
Speaking of Frazier, it's sad to hear that he's in the final stages of liver cancer. What a terrible way to go.
Out of the fighters of the 70's, Frazier was always my favorite. Hopefully he pulls through, but I doubt it.
