Phantom menace novelization is pretty good. I guess I would go 3-6

Novelisations =/= adaptations. Novelisations aren't really a thing in Britain, but how's, say, the Avengers book for example in comparison to the film?

The only direct movie adaptations I've ever heard of being better than the movie aren't novelizations, but the games of Wolverine Origins and Chronicles of Riddick.

Not sure about better than the movie, but the novelization of The Scorpion King is surprisingly solid.

In my experience super hero books suck in comparison.

Y'all have serious problems spotting sarcasm, people. That or you all have a drier sense of humour than me.

Peter David's novelization of Batman Forever is much better than the film. And his Hulk / Incredible Hulk novelizations. But that's almost unfair because it's Peter David writing the Hulk and he probably knows Hulk better than anyone who worked on the movies.

Fun fact, random tangent aside, on the Incredible Hulk novelization cover that, it has Edward Norton as writing the script:

You know which movie Edward Norton doesn't have a screenplay credit on? "The Incredible Hulk". And that's basically why Mark Rufflao now has the gig.

The "movement" folded quickly, then? Shocking.

I doubt it has. It's likely some people tire of the needless sniping and name calling. Don't blame them.

Has hardly ended, I still see the frequent raids. I don't intend on buying any of the new material still, despite the info that's come out on it.

I also think there are still enough people who would be more than happy if they got the EU back - "movement" or not. ;)

Chiefly because it's very low likelihood I'd enjoy any of the content. I haven't really so far.

Same as Cushy here. I've seen Rebels, and it never really caught my interest, even the introduction of classic characters like Tarkin and Vader didn't.

    Same here.

I briefly considered reading Tarkin, as I imagine it would fit into the "old" continuity, but I'm just not a Luceno fan - never liked his previous books that much.

I like Luceno's style but don't care for his handling of Tarkin.

If we really want Legends back, in some shape or form, then the solution, to me, is to convince others to buy the material with the tag on it, as sales tends to send a very effective message.

    Bingo.
Although the fact that they are reprinting the 'non-canon' books under a new title is interesting in of itself. In general, I don't recall secondary franchise material being brought back in print for other sci-fi/fantasy series; usually you had to go to the used bookstore to pick up a copy. Publishers don't do reprints unless they think they are going to sell copies.

Quite, it's definitely unusual. The only one I know of, outside of Marvel-DC, is Transformers but that's comics-only too.

I would also want the Lit strand of SW fandom to be engaging with those fans who've just read a Legends item, even if it's something some of us - or even most - would consider a lousy place to start.

I expect the reprints to be quietly abandoned in a few years, with the possible exception of staples like TTT, the Daley books, etc.

Right now non-canon product is better than nothing at all, but after a movie or two, ten or twenty novels, and some obscene number of comics, will the Mouse really want this stuff hanging around? Perhaps digital-only distribution since that costs essentially nothing and doesn't compete with NU for store shelf space.
