So, is there a "Burn it down a salt the earth" moment that don't want any of the old EU in the new EU?

Personally, part of me would be interested in seeing that taken a step farther: Instead of cutting just the EU wipe the slate entirely clean and shift to a bit more of a mechanically designed universe that constantly keeps balance in mind.

I'm just hoping they ditch those damned movies made in the 70s.

I mean, does ANYONE care about them?

Pre-ROTJ stuff could creep back in. Post-ROTJ will mostly be impossible, especially anything to do with the solo kids. As the Story Group made clear, bits and prices will be incorporated. So there may be a Thrawn, but not the Thrawn Trilogy wholesale.

But I am much more interested in more new Legends material. I think it can happen. And I think fans petitioning and advocating for more new Legends material--in a more respectful, non-jackass way--can make a difference.

Jaina is the only Solo kid who's story has yet to be told.

Ben, we know grows up to be a great Jedi and is happy.

Not sure if Allania really cries out for an expansion.

I *GREW UP* with the Solo Kids. I watched them born. I watched them become teenagers. I disturbingly know who they lost their virginity too.

They were MY Jedi and I had an attachment to them. A strong one.

    I won't lie to you and say it doesn't sting they're non-existent.

Because, in my head, I always wanted to see Jacen come back from the Unknown Regions to find out his evil clone had been screwing with people since Riptide.

But there's no one else I really wanted the stories of.

I imagine that's how it will go this time around. Authors will get contracted to write books and Disney will let them slip in references all the time. It's what happened with the Crisis on Infinite Earths!

    No other Kryptonians
    No Supergirl
    No Kandor
    No multi-colored Kryptonite
    No Superpets

Guess how many of these returned?

The Solo kids were sacrificed on the Altar of Realism.

I don't object to that in principle, I think it needs Realism as war is no game. What I dislike is how they happened and were handled and that goes for basically any that died in the Dark Era started by NJO and on.

I don't think war should be depicted as a game myself. However, given I played Star Wars as a child and it didn't make my think war was fun and everyone should do it makes me believe that there's a balance.

    Yes.

I started on the EU before most people here were born or had seen Star Wars. But it was so utterly stupid and terrible by LOTF that I walked away. A new fresh start? Do it.

The day Disney announced the separation of Legends from canon.

I could also talk about how I started on the EU before most people here were born, but it would be really, really meaningless to do so.

What I truly don't understand is why people are so against a continuation of the Legends universe.

No one would be making you read it, no one would be making you buy it, it wouldn't even be official canon.

George Lucas said Legends wasn't canon.

My first book was Dark Force Rising in 1992. So, I've been a fan of the EU for twenty-two years now.

I have no attachment to the NewEU as a whole but I love Star Wars: Rebels. I'm also fantastically excited about Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

    Because of Darth Cadeus, basically.

Darth Cadeus ruins Star Wars' future for me. If the galaxy has nothing to look forward to but spitting on Han, Leia, and Luke's legacy in the most emotionally tormenting horrific way possible then why would you want it to continue?

It was a good run but, honestly, ANYTHING is better as a future of the GFFA.

It's not meaningless to do so, but I do appreciate how passive aggressive that was. Must have took a few drafts to get it just right.

The point was to highlight that I wasn't someone who never read the EU; I was.

And why would you read legends knowing now that the fate of those characters is absolutely not as the books describe? Aren't you excited to see how they align the fate of the Big Three and wider galaxy between now and TFA?

I second that feeling about Cadeus.

Add Krayt to the list for me.

On another note, look at the posts by us old timers.

I see a trend in what turned us off of the EU.

    Thanks.

My general take on the subject is I owe the EU 20+ years of joy of my life and the NuEU hasn't earned any of that.

BE THAT AS IT MAY, I'm not going to say that it can't.

Also, the old EU maybe needed to be put out to pasture as while I loved Star Wars: Legacy, I think it fits very poorly as anything but an awesome Infinities story.

I hate Darth Vader II too, but I am not embracing the new canon because all I think is needed is a post-NJO reboot.

I remember how people thought Dark Empire ruined Star Wars.

And Marvel being discarded was the END OF CONTINUITY 4EVER.

    One thing justifies this all.

I can't rejoice when so many characters from Thrawn to Kinnin Vo-Shay are gone too.
