    These are unadjusted for inflation:

    ANH: $11,000,000
    TESB: $18,000,000
    ROTJ: $32,000,000
    TPM: $115,000,000
    AOTC: $115,000,000
    ROTS: $113,000,000

I'm not sure about the special editions, but I think the 1997 SE's each had $3,000,000 dedicated to each film also.

So anyway, my question to bring up now is what do you all think the production budgets for Episodes VII-IX will be like? It's interesting to see I and II share the same budget, but then a sudden drop for Episode III.

Great topic! I'm going to go high for Episode VII with $220 million max.

A good question, I can see them getting about $150 million each. Spin offs about 100-120.

Have you seen how much Disney likes to spend on tentpoles? Episode 7 will be at least a 200 million dollar movie. At least. A quarter of a billion wouldn't be out of the ordinary for Disney, however.

They allready spent 4,000,000,000 to get this first one made..... they will spend 225,000,000 on VII 215,000,000 on VIII and 240,000,000 on IX.

Whatever The Avengers budget was is a good approximation for each ST budget but willing to bet they may spend a little more than that (maybe closer to Avengers 2... since it is Star wars after all), and the budget for the individual Marvel Hero movies for the spin-off Star Wars films with predicted high return movies with Iron Man level budgets (like a Han origin story) and risky spinoffs with a Thor level budget (a potential Yoda spinoff for example)

Is there a spending cap in place at Disney on tent poles after The Lone Ranger debacle? If true, not sure it will have much of an effect on Star Wars. But, I'm not really sure how it all works. Disney owns Lucasfilm/Marvel do they come in and ultimately tell them what to spend? I suppose they would if the money ultimately comes from Mickey...

Good question. I'm sure, after Lone Ranger, Disney will be very cautious with money.

I think they will with new, untested films/franchises. Star Wars, however, is a different beast. It pretty much prints its own money.

I do admire what George has done with the PT. Even third Narnia movie had bigger budget. 115 millions was perfect.
Now? Disney should be careful. 150 millions max.

I'm guessing somewhere in between $150 million and $175 million.

Star Wars was a proven franchise success for decades, TLR was not. In terms budgets, Disney will more than likely treat Episode VII-IX like they're treating Avengers and Iron Man. That means a 200 million dollar budget at least.

Not meaning I disagree, but "Disney+Johnny Depp" had a history of financial successes and that may have contributed to the fact they spent so much on TLR.

It will cost enough to take care of some other poor third world country.

    That's my two cents.
