You're gonna like this one...
I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply here Bill--been pretty nuts for me lately!
This last piece is awesome!! I love the perspective, like we're high up in a jungle canopy, looking down at him as he swings past, sort of "Tarzan-style"...or is he about to grab us, like so much lunch...? Those long claws and teeth give me pause! Another great piece!
A "Cable Original" over 8 years in the making! My 100th piece!
You can read all about it in this week's http://CreatureCantina.com update.
Congratulations on your 100th piece! All of your drawings are spectacular! I really like the last few clone warrior ones and the one of Slave Leia.
Congrats on #100 Bill!
Slave Leia is wonderful--I love her expression, and that fact that she's sort of braced covertly above the doorway here, as though she's getting ready to drop onto someone's head! Great piece!
*hugs Barriss* She's so cute! I really like this piece although I don't know why.
Fantastic! I love how you differentiate the textures of her Barriss' outfit I rarely come across straightforward ink renderings but your work really reminds me of how great it can be!
Oooo! Great action shot of Bariss, Bill!! As with all your work, the astounding amount of detail leaves me searching for words--loving the almost brocade effect on her cloak. The texturing in the entire piece is just beautiful--another wonderful addition--great, great stuff!
As part of the http://CreatureCantina.com 5-year anniversary celebration, I posted my latest art: Princess Leia from ANH.
O I liked this one! Very nice job!
I can't fathom why you haven't had more people visit this page!
I love your work- and your cross hatching is something to admire! I get too scared to cross-hatch shade a lot of the time!
My favourite two pieces have to be Grievous and Squid-Head!
I think you should try doing Vader, Thrawn and perhaps Rukh in the style you do- I think they'd look excellent!
Lovely work, please keep it coming!
Oooo! Loving the new Leia! A beautiful homage to our favorite kick-@$$ princess! This one seems a bit less "shaded" than a lot of your pieces Bill--was it a conscious choice, or one born of time constraints...? Regardless, it's just lovely--and really captures the Leia from ANH! Another wonderful installment!
It's less shaded because she's a pale white girl in a snow white dress. I tried a few different avenues for shading her or her dress, but both ended up with her looking gray. So I decided to just pile on the line thickness in some areas and let her be spotless. The guy who bought it was happy, so I'm content with it.
Don't worry, the next pair of drawings have shading out the wazoo.
My latest commission is actually a pair of drawings. The two of these go together:
To properly get the effect, you should see them oriented as they'll be framed:
This was one of the most fun projects I've done in a while.
I love the textures you have got out of just pen and ink - Obi-Wan's robe is my favourite.
These are amazing (as usual... [face_jealous] )!! This captures just beautifully the pivotal moment in the duel, when Anakin's lust for revenge and triumph push him straight into Obi Wan's waiting blade... Just awesome: the energy in both pieces is tremendous, with Anakin just leaping, and Obi Wan coiled and ready. I laughed when I read the "shading up the wazoo" comment from you! You weren't kidding! soits is so right about the texturing here--absolutely superb! And don't kill me--I could so see these colored...but only very carefully, so as to preserve the outstanding detailing you've achieved here. I can see, in every piece you post here, why your commission-ers are so pleased--it's all jaw-dropping!
I've updated http://CreatureCantina.com with yet another new drawing - Admiral Ackbar!
What a great portrait of the venerable Admiral! The pose is wonderful, the gesture--this is a superb perspective, too, from slightly above him as he commands the battle. As always, your work with pen-and-ink leaves me speechless--the stipling for shadows and textures...wow! And the detailing on his uniform is outstanding! Yet another awesome piece Bill!
Are you ready for Durge??!!
Holy Moly!! What a great view of this guy!! I've seen some fan/pro art of Durge, but not much--he seems like quite the bad@$$! And this perspective is proof, I think! Loving the detailing (as always!)--his weapons, his helmet, his armoring...superb! I love it!
Another new one - Quinlan Vos.
Awesome Quinlan Vos!!! Tremendous energy in this, with that dynamic pose, his fierce expression and all the bold lines and shading--just awesome (and I would so not want to be the poor schmuck on the receiving end of that blow... )!!! You did a great job of showing that yellow tattoo on his face--that had to be somewhat problematic in a black-and-white piece! lol! This looks so great! Yet another wonderful addition to your gallery here!
Not my standard "Cable Original" inked stuff, but I figured I'd post it here anyway.
Hopefully in a few weeks I'll begin assembling the custom carded figures. This run should be really nice. The art is hand-drawn and inked, then scanned and colored in Photoshop.
Now I await the obligatory single response from FalconFan...
I hope this doesn't mean you're going to stop posting in the forum...since I seem to be your only visitor...
I LOVE this! It's great fun to see a more "cartoony" style from you--I can't do this type of thing for anything (...of course....I don't try to, either....)! I really like the cave environment he's tearing through, with all the glowing crystals on the walls (great job doing that glow, btw!)--is this a scene from the series, or something you thought up? How fun to be doing a series like this! Do you actually assemble the figures, too, or are you just doing the cards for someone else's figures? It really looks like the actual item, in any case--great job! And, for what it's worth, I'm a big fan of your work--that's why I always drop in! Thanks for sharing this, and it'd be fun to see more of them when you get some done!
