Senate The California Housing Crisis

Places like Miami definitely have foreign buyers jacking up prices. They also scavenged helped rescue the market by scooping up property after the crash. I have a couple of Austrian friends who bought vacation places in Miami in 2009 or so.

i don't know how people live in southern california. i lived in central california and L.A. later . My parents sold their house there in 1996 and the price has tripled. With all the companies that were moving out of California (my dad's company sold their land there because of property taxes and moved it to arizona)
i don't know who can afford to pay those prices for housing.


Ironically a lot of smaller businesses that don't rely on location to make money say, a manufacturing company are moving out of California because the cost of business is getting to high.

I heard of stories of people in shelters in Silicon Valley making 45k a year. Or cities nearby not being able to employ emergency responders cause they don't want to pay them enough to live there. Meanwhile the poor souls have to drive two hours to get to work.

The (Indiana Jones version of) Thuggees would probably bring down demand for real estate, what with all the live hearts they need.

 

Even with the drought, at least the weather remains nice.
