The Cave in ESB

hey guys...this is my first time posting so if this is an old topic please tolerate this one time...

im confused as to the whole cave scene in ESB...how does Luke fail Yoda's test??? does this scene say he will fall to the dark side? Yoda brings it up again when Luke leaves his training to go to Cloud City and says to be careful b/c he did fail...

some answers please from the veterans

You should post this in any of the existing threads.

 

Luke failed the test because he went into the cave with fear in his heart. Yoda informed him that his weapons were not neccessary...what does he do? He straps 'em on.

He went in there expecting a fight...and thats what he got.

Had he truly believed...he would have had a much different vision.

The weapons that Luke strapped on in ESB meant that he does not trust Yoda so he puts them on.

 

also, he gave into his fear and struck down vader...
