Why would the zombie be in an alley? They would have wandered somewhere food would be around. Nothing is in alleys.

She takes her customers to her cardboard box home in the alley.

 

Only the homeless in cold areas live in cardboard boxes in alleys. She lives in a warm climate. She doesn't need a box.

 

I have my issues with sociologists that try to do their research by embedding themselves among their subjects, but I don't know the methodology is bad enough to be mocked in the way you're suggesting.
