@RX_Sith: The rules allow for having a second song. So yes, that means that last song is now yours.

OK, the index should now be up to date—DRL and the awards and similar things have been eating my time and energy, and so I apologize that it's taken so long. if anyone sees any missing or incorrect information in the index, please feel free to let me know. Thanks to all who have contributed so far, and looking forward to seeing what else will roll in! :)

And I've just put up the last post of mine, which is COMPLETE! This was fun, and definitely not my usual thing, so a good exercise to stretch! Thank you, everyone!

I have FINALLY completed my fic for this challenge. I loved my song and wanted to do it justice.

    Hello all!

Well, it’s not the “merry month of May” anymore, but it’s definitely summer, the "green buds [are] a swellin’,” and it’s going on five months (wow!) since @Pandora and I started this challenge. Out of the 20 songs that were handed out, we so far have eleven entries (plus three ad-hoc entries inspired by songs on the list)—which is pretty stupendous for a fanfic challenge. Thank you all so much for your fantastic work and for making this challenge something truly wonderful.
    =D=

But right now I’m writing mainly to check in with those on the list who haven’t contributed a story yet. How are things going, ideas- and writing-wise? Is your song prompt working for you? (You are welcome to return it to the pool if it isn’t; there will be no hard feelings.) If you feel stuck may we be of help in any way? Do let us know.

Also, since all the songs in the current list have been assigned, what would you all think if we made, say, five more available? Pandora has been working on collecting a few more just in case, and if there’s interest she plans to put up a new “mini-roulette” to distribute them.

So, again, please do let us know! And many thanks once again. :)

Hi, checking in. :) Sorry I've been away for the past couple months, but my grandmother's not been doing so good lately, so I've been helping Mom take care of her. I do have part one of my entry for this challenge completed, just need to proofread and post.

As you know, this challenge has been so popular that the twenty songs we began with are now all taken. So I have gone out roving--into the meadows and flowers gay--and found five more.

ETA: *There are now but two songs left, so: you can either do a coin toss to pick one, or ask us to pick the number for you.

    Hm.... Lowlands of Holland, eh

The night that I was married and in my married bed
Up comes the bold sea captain and stands at my bed head
Saying "arise, arise, young wedded man and come along with me
To the Lowlands of Holland for to fight the enemy"

Oh, Holland is a lovely land and in it grows fine grain
It is a place of residence for soldiers to remain
Where the sugar cane grows plentiful and the tea grows on each tree
I never had but the one sweetheart and she's far away from me

Says the mother to the daughter "leave off your sore lament
There's men enough in Galway to be your heart's content"
"There's men enough in Galway, but alas there's none for me
Since the high winds and the stormy seas have parted my love and me"

"I'll wear no stays around my waist, no combs all in my hair
No handkerchief around my neck, to shade my beauty fair
And neither will I marry until the day I die
Since the high winds and the stormy seas have parted my love and I"

For the stormy winds began to blow and the seas did loudly roar
And the captain or his gallant ship were ne'er seen no more

    LOWLANDS OF HOLLAND Taken.

I gave up on this one, but maybe I could try again (had an idea that would have worked, but who knows?)...I can never get this die thing to work, so can you pick a number for me? Thank you.

Sure. What you do is reply to some thread (such as this one). and then look at the right lower corner. wher it says more options. press the arrow and throw a dice option. At the bottom you choose how many faces. So therefore. Your song is the banks of Ohio.

I asked my love to take a walk
To take a walk, just a little walk
Down beside where the waters flow
Down by the banks of the Ohio
And only say that you'll be mine
    In no others' arms entwine
Down beside where the waters flow
Down by the banks of the Ohio
I held a knife against his breast
As into my arms he pressed
He cried "my love, don't you murder me
    I'm not prepared for eternity"
I wandered home 'tween twelve and one
I cried, "My God, what have I done?"
I've killed the only man I love
He would not take me for his bride
And only say that you'll be mine
    In no others' arms entwine
Down beside where the waters flow
Down by the banks of the Ohio

    Enjoy @leiamoody

OK, @leiamoody and @DARTH_MU, I have added you both to the index (if those numbers/songs are all right with you both). Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

And once again, for those participants who have not yet contributed a story and who are hung up, stumped, in need of a nudge, etc., please let us know if there's anything we can do to help. :)

I still can't believe I wrote three of them.

Oh wait, I never posted the last chapter of the main one. Something to work on....

So: I see that in my absence from the internet several songs have been chosen. And while I'm several days late on this, I thought I may as well toss up a few videos.

I hope no one will mind my posting again, but I'd like to roll for a second song—might be a good source of inspiration for some of my upcoming projects. I see that 1 and 3 of the new group of 5 are taken, so I'll see what the dice give me...

EDIT: Looks like 4 is "The Cruel Brother"—another one I don't yet know. Should be interesting! :)

@Findswoman: I'm certain that others reading will agree with me when I write that I don't mind in the least. (Actually, I think I may have encouraged you to go ahead and roll at some point.) Anyhow: "The Cruel Brother" is another murder ballad, with another kriffslider behaving true to form. Apparently, it was a grievous sin not to seek one's brother's permission before marriage--or there is something else going on that they expect you to find in the subtext.
