I literally went "oooo" out loud, under my breath

 

My Christmas tree (in a bucket with soil) seems to be "leaning" rightwards this year. Have tried straightening it with bricks but can't seem to stop it "listing". Looks like it's been on the Xmas sherry!

Anybody got any ideas what else I can try?

Next year I'm going to get one of these;

Years ago, my brother Pat set up a system using wires threaded from each point of an X-shaped stand up into the branches and around the trunk. It cut the time needed to put up the tree from twenty minutes to about five. Nowadays, though, we have an artificial tree; getting a real one was too much trouble. Sad, really...

 

Hmmmmm... Interesting suggestion.

Re. Artificial Vs Real. I don't think you can beat a real tree but they can be troublesome.

Years ago we had a friend who grew Xmas Trees and sold them professionally. He used to let my Father and I go to his Xmas tree farm and dig our Christmas tree's up... So we'd have them freshly dug with roots and so on. They were amazing, never dropped their needles etc.

Great times.

 

I'm making a new christmas fudge recipe this year. I'm looking foward to it.

I'm doing a low-key celebration this year. Most of my extended family is in New Orleans this week, so we had our gift exchange on the 16th. So it'll just be myself, my wife, and her mother tomorrow. Typical holiday fare, with ham, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole. But then we'll all go see Rogue One again tomorrow night for my second time (their first).

 

I was gonna wait until tomorrow to wrap gifts, but I did it today. Take that, procrastination!

 

Several family members are sick this year, so we're also doing pretty low-key. The hubby and I made a steak and ale pie for dinner, and are watching Star Trek. Early to bed to clean out the last of the virus, and then extended family dinner tomorrow.
