BTW ... Clint Dempsey became the second highest goal sheet scorer in US soccer history today, tying Eric Wynalda with his first and passing him with the second. Only a guy named Landon Donovan is ahead of Deuce now.

 

That Germany v US game was insane. We can sure enjoy the US winning, but let's face it, they were not facing the actual German team. If all of the Bayern and Borussia players had been there, this would have been a very different result. Still, I thought the USMNT played really well on offense. Kinda worried about the defense though. And their weakness was glaringly strong in the last quarter of the game. Have to get better defensively if they want to get anywhere in World Cup qualifiers.

Also, did anyone see that Galaxy v New England game? Total insanity. I cannot believe the Galaxy folded like that. Donovan blamed that bizarre call by the head ref, and I agree it was effed up, but to just let it affect the game so much is totally unacceptable.

 

My AO Auto-renewed today, meaning one of those sweet shirts is on its way to me here in Denver.

Not anywhere near Donovan vs Algeria, but so similar. All hope head been sucked out of the bar when Jamaica equalized (despite both being offside and fouling Michael Bradley).

And then ... Brad ****ing Evans. Wow. What a clutch strike.

 

Why didn't we see Donovan in US team these days?

 

Depending on what/who you believe, either he's a quitter, or we don't respect mental illness/injury as much as we do physical. Or somewhere in between.

It's why he stepped away from the Galaxy. He needed a mental break.


I still can't believe the Evans' strike. Heck of a time for a first ever international goal.

 

I'd be interested in reading more about Donovan stepping away for a mental break. Anyone got links?
