The Clone Wars and WWII

There isn't a general Clone Wars forum as such, so i'm hoping that this is the right place to discuss it.

Does anyone else think that there are some pretty cool (in an extremely loose sense of the word, i mean no offence to anyone, any taken i apologise for greatly) parallels between the Clone Wars and WWII?

For instance, in the Clone Wars montage at the beginning of the cartoon, Jedi Starfighters execute a maneuver similar to the Blitzkreig assault on a droid army.

 

There are some similaries, but more so in the form of the politics. Palpatine has aquired power much the same way that Hitler did, and some pictures from the HNN are very similar to some Nazi things. THere's an essay that I did about the Empire and Nazism at TUCWS.

That is cool. I never knew SW can relate to WWII's ways of power. Interesting.

 

Weren't some of the nazi troops called stormtroopers?
That relates to SW somewhat.

A lot of the space battles in the OT were mimicked from genuine WW2 fighter plane footage, and the TIE & Falcon cockpits & gunner stations are based on Bomber cockpits & gun stations.

 

Oh yea, you can certainly see the WWII similarities.
