The Jedi face a devastating new Separatist weapon that's in the hands of General Grievous in the second of two episodes that mark the season premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Friday, Oct. 3 on Cartoon Network.

In "Rising Malevolence," which premieres at 9:30 p.m., an attack by an unimaginably destructive weapon aboard a mysterious warship leaves Jedi Master Plo Koon and his clone troopers struggling to survive until Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano can find them. They discover that the ship is piloted by Grievous himself.

"Rising Malevolence" follows the 9:00 p.m. debut of the episode "Ambush." Star Wars: The Clone Wars will introduce new episodes at 9:00 p.m. Fridays on Cartoon Network.

I'm really pumped for this episode, more so than "Ambush." The preview clip from the BTS special was great.

Yeah, seeing Yoda is good, but this looks like it's going to be classic SW at its best.

I love the fact that this is a three episode arc.... its the sort of story that the movie should have been. Stand alone episodes such as ambush are great, but I hope we get a few plots that span more than one episode.

So is this going to be a cliffhanger? Or is it just a "themed" three-parter, where it's three distinct episodes that just happen to revolve around this secret new weapon?

Either way, I am pumped. I'm definitely more excited about this one than the Yoda episode...even though the Yoda episodes sounds like a lot of fun too.

I don't think "Ambush" has anything to do with the weapon, but I could be wrong.

Looks like my questions is answered by the new Filoni interview on IGN.

    I'm ok with that.

    Arghh! I hate cliff hangers.

Fantastic episode though. Loved Plo in space. Jedi in Space are just cool though ;)

The best part was when Plo Koon throws the clone trooper through space. The return of the first person shots were nice too that was one part from the movie I really liked, and if used sparingly it really takes you into the action.

Wow. Just wow. What a perfect episode. This is what Star Wars is all about, cool characters, awesome action, and good story stuff. Plo Koon owns. The Malevolence was cool and I liked seeing a little bit of the rebellious side of Anakin and how he passes it on to Ahsoka. Overall, I really enjoyed this episode and I can't wait for the next two in the arc.

I loved that Ahsoka's upstart traits were made to work in the Jedis' favor! You could also pick up on how Palpatine's duplicity was working both sides of the war by Yoda's mention of Dooku's always being a step ahead of them.

The series is shaping up to be mind-blowingly fantastic!! I'm curious to hear other folks' reactions!

    I love the show.
Plo was amazing. I was having a mental breakdance when I heard him.
I am hoping to see the designs of his Clone Trooper's armor better. I couldn't tell if it was red or not because of the lighting.

A bit more of a serious episode after "Ambush", but it showed the range we can seem to expect-- light hearted to more serious and more mature types of stories. Still a bit odd to see Anakin in a mentor role and more controlled than what we got in Episodes III.

does anyone else think that the mystery ion cannon weapon might be the death star in early stages of construction? i really enjoyed the first two episodes.

This show is awesome. It's even better than the movie. It wasn't as weird as I thought it was going to be to hear Plo speak. Excellent episode.

Not quite as good as the earlier episode. But, I enjoyed it. Glad to see a little back story to Ahsoka, that was a nice touch, as is some of the nods to non-movie material that keep popping up.

Although ... am I the only one a bit perturbed by the fact that the pod hunters resembled clawcraft more so than anything we see from the Empire or the Rebellion?

I didn't like this episode as much as the first - largely because of the idea of the ion cannon as being this huge secret weapon, etc... but it was still a good episode. Definitely got to see some of the relationship between Anakin and Ahsoka, with Anakin trying to be the good master but Ahsoka being, well, herself. It was also nice to see Plo Koon, who we haven't seen much of elsewhere.

    EDIT:

Although ... am I the only one a bit perturbed by the fact that the pod hunters resembled clawcraft more so than anything we see from the Empire or the Rebellion?

I had the exact same thought. Though the preview of next weeks looked like Y-wings..

The reason why it is a superweapon isn't so much that it is an ion cannon. The way they talked about it in the episode it was obvious that they had all seen ion cannons before. However an Ion cannon of that size along with the fact that it is mobile and attached to a giant cruiser makes it a powerful weapon. Being able to disable enemy ships and then demolish them with no effort seems like a pretty powerful weapon to me.

I like how we got to see Anakins piloting skills too. Going through all the wreckage definitely reminded me of Han Solo in the asteroid field. I'm looking forward to seeing more of why he is the best pilot in the galaxy.

Solid episode- Plo Koon was interesting, the super ion cannon energy disk chase escape was very cool too. The battle droid humor was rather good here too (especially how upbeat they were as they cheerfully went about the routine slaughter of mostly helpless survivors). The personality of the medical droid was dead freaking spot-on as well.

The council debate subplot kinda dragged down the episode a little though- not to mention it made the Jedi look a little cold not even trying to look for survivors- ESPECIALLY Yoda after his focus in the first episode of not leaving anyone behind.
