Yeah, he was definitely more like Anakin is this episode than the other one...I hope they stay more with this aspect of his character than turning him into a Obi-Wan clone.

"That's quite a fleet for bottling up one undefended dust cloud. What do they think this is, the Clone Wars?" -Lando Calrissian and the Starcave of Thonboka, p290

I never read this book, but the quote is funny![face_laugh] But it begs a question...if Lando knew about this, was he involved in the Clone Wars themselves somehow?[face_thinking]

Yeah, and it also reminded me of the giant space slug that Han & Co. ran into... literally.

I was hesitant to include that- it's a throwback to a degree, but it's something expected proceedurally, I think. The "cut the chatter" during a rollcall was more blatant.

I saw this episode and loved every minute of it. There was real sense of urgency and sense of peril in this episode especially when they show the Malevolence in action destroying Star Destroyers like their nothing. Grievous developing nicely and I'm glad they're making into a more menacing villain. I love the banter between the pilots. It was something that was really missing in the PT. All the pilots in the PT sounded bored and unemotional. Here you can get the feeling that they are all pals and it makes it more sad when most of them die. Anakin and Plo are developing well and becoming better characters. Ahsoka...I must admit was a little annoying in this episode. She's too...arrogant at times. But you know, I think she's going to fall for Anakin eventually.

    I give the episode a 9/10.

The problem with Ahsoka is that a little too sassy. I don't mind a little of that but almost every line she says is infused with sass.

I'm loving the series and wish that the movie had been as good... I think it would have done better at the box office and had far less critics. This show has been outstanding and my only real complaint is the obvious short nature of the episodes. I've had to DVR the first two weeks b/c both times I was traveling and our hotels didn't offer CN. Watching these on DVR and fast-forwarding through the commercials really makes them go fast.

If I had any criticism whatsoever... it's that I'm still not a fan of Ahsoka. That is a good bit - the reference to the fact that she's taken on a bit of 3PO's role. But I just kinda roll my eyes most of the time when she speaks and I think, more than any other character, her design is "weird"... very wide face/nose/lips. Just a little strange to me - not saying it's anything someone else might notice.

My favorite part of the series so far is the interaction between the clones. I love hearing their names, seeing them talk to with one another and Jedi, and generally be real characters. And all the little touches like each pilot having a unique color/design to their helmets just make it even better.

This show is really really really off to a good start. You know it's good when each episode leaves you longing for more and wishing it was next week.

I thought this episode was fantastic, as good as the movie.
Loved the ending, leading right into next week as Obi-Wan confronts Grievous.
They need to bring back Ziro, though!

Hayden wasn't given much chance to be like TCW vesion of Anakin, though, was he? I like Matt Lanter, but without George breathing down his neck, and if the script had called for it, Hayden could have done just as well.

Well, he will fire on refugee ships fleeing Belderone. It's not that big of a stretch, from what I know right now.

The Rebellion has a whole lot less money and access to resources than the Republic, so it makes sense to use their metal panels more frugally. If the Y-Wings don't need the extra armour, then the materials might as well be put to better use elsewhere.

This is a really fun episode with the space battles and the problems of space navigation. This one felt the most like an authentic Star Wars story, no overblown force powers or anything strange, just a good solid believable Star Wars adventure. :) And it was great to see the Y-Wing fighter in action for the first time! :)

As far as any differences between the Clone Wars ships and the Star Wars trilogy ships, keep in mind that these are probably some of the first production Y-Wings, and there are bound to be some differences between these ships and the later more advanced variants that are used during the time of the Rebellion. :)

Heh, it gets better. The ThonBoka blockade has these mysterious Imperial cruisers with hanger doors that open and giant hangers much bigger than those on ImpStars. Surely meant as ISDs, but work much better in canon as Venators...especially with somewhat un-Imperial names such as Courteous...

Another great ep! I love the sass of Ahsoka because now what is "impactual" is when she shuts up! [face_laugh]. Seriously though, she reminds me of the Anakin in Jedi Quest, only a bit more outspoken and brattier. So when put in her place or silent, one takes note! I like it and since they've made Anakin take to it well, it gives a reason for his maturing for ROTS and I like it. I see no difference between this Anakin and the Anakin at the beginning of ROTS when he and Obi-Wan were flying; he was back in a kind of semi-padawan role which we have not seen too much here cuz he and Obi-Wan are not on missions together much. But he takes that same attitude when he interacts with Obi-Wan in TCW. To me it is perfect.

I loved Hayden in the role; I thought he did it perfectly and cannot imagine another person as Anakin Skywalker. No matter what other movie he is in, I always see him as Anakin lol. His buffed out appearance in ROTS was perfect and at the beginning, he reminded me of the TCW carticature - much like the TCW Cart. of OBi-Wan reminds me of Ewan and so on. The voice is quite similar. Naturally as ROTS went on, Anakin began devolving into another being, stressed, messed, whipped, tested and finally falling big time. His vocalizations became more strained, hoarse, course and anger-filled. It was perfect - but I don't expect to see that here.

Come on man, I mean no one in the world can hit this line like Hayden-Anakin did: "I have brought peace, freedom, justice and security to My new empire!" Haha! Our TCW Anakin won't have that going on, but apart from that, he reminds me of Hayden a lot from looks to voice, to ROTS acting (beginning of film).

GG was coolio also - as arrogant and wonderful as always - can't wait for him to whip out the sabers! And the first YW sightings were ultra cool.

I prefer to look at it like they only had a few ships and had to constantly maintain them since they were so old and under heavy use, so the mechanics figured it'd be easier to just leave the coverings off instead of wasting time taking them off and putting them back on after every mssion. That and, tying into what you were saying, they probably couldn't afford to replace the old armor, or could provide more conservative panels to meet their needs (ala the "plated" cross-sections version) since the Old Republic flashy style had been replaced by functionality.

Just watched it for the second time.

Ahsoka wasn't as bad as I first thought, but she's still over-the-top outspoken for a Jedi.

I love the shot of the Y-Wings leaving the Venator, very cool.

Also some great shots in the nebula ("from hell's heart, I stab at thee" ;)), and I liked the neebrays, very sci-fi.

A couple of terrible line readings by Anakin and Ahsoka's voice actors at the very end of the show. Just terrible inflection.

EDIT: Also, continuity error? Thought Matchstick's right engine got hit by the neebray, then I swear 10 seconds later, his left engine is smoking.

lol, after watching this episode I got this urge to play Homeworld 2 again.

Anyway, why the heck is Grievous taking Malevolence out on solo Bismarck-style sorties without escorts anyway? Yeah it's a powerful ship, but if it's such a valuable asset that the Separatists want to keep secret and fully operational, then going on a shooting spree in Republic space may not have been the best idea....

Yeah, it seems silly to just have the Malevolence on its own, since a few escort ships probably would've taken out more Y-wings and possibly have saved the ion cannon. Then again, more ships might've meant they would have to be more careful about where they were shooting their ion cannon, in case of friendly fire. Though Grevious might not care about friendly fire, since he doesn't like the droids much and he did hit some droid starfighters already, but then again, losing a few starfighters probably wouldn't cost as much (financially and military-wise) than losing a few Muneficent-class or Recusant-class ships. And there might be some psychological warfare/propaganda value in having just one ship wrecking havoc inside Republic lines.

And on the broken stablizer, I thought Matchstick flew in front of one of those ray things, from our left to right, he clipped it with the left engine, which was closer to the flying ray thing, then his Y-wing rolled around a few times and then when he straights out its still the left engine. Later on, when his starfighters breaks down, I think its still the left engine, but with all the rolling, its hard to tell where the cockpit is, even, so not entirely sure.

I agree, they really need to tone her down. It comes across as grating and disruptive when every other line of dialouge is her giving a sassy retort or a panicked complaint. Much like Jar Jar in TPM, his humor was overdone and it drowned out all around him. Asoka distracts in a similar way. I hope the writers tone her down. She doesn't need to be scowling at Anakin every scene and doesn't always have to have some sassy remark to just about everything he says.

I thought this past episode has been the best of the bunch so far.

If only they could tone down Asoka and add in more interesting characters. So far everyone other than Anakin is so subdued.

Ashola as 3PO? If that's the case, I'd rather have 3PO since it would make more sense for him to give those lines and not be too annoying. And sassy, that's the word I was looking for earlier when I initially described her performance:p. Well, I don't think she'll be in this next one much, since Padme seems to be the female focus in this one(and Anakin's wife).

Well, as Jason Hawes from GhostHunters would say: "Onto the next!"

Yes, I agree with this too. I'm liking this show more than I thought I would, but it would be more enjoyable without her constantly grating lines. Then again, since she will either die or go away before the time of ROTS, maybe we are being set up to be happy about that. [face_laugh]
