"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish, and the tyranny of evil men.

Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.

And I will strike down on thee with great vengence and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers, and you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengence upon thee"

    Mace Windu Concludes Ryloth Trilogy

    <img src="http://www.starwars.com/img/theclonewars/news20090310/mace_bg.jpg">

The final chapter of the thrilling three-part Ryloth saga, "Liberty on Ryloth" brings Jedi Master Mace Windu to the Separatist-occupied planet for the crucial final stages of the peacekeeping effort. The all-new episode of the hit animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars premieres at 9 p.m. ET/PT Friday, March 13, on Cartoon Network.

With Republic forces stretched thin, Mace must convince the beleaguered people of Ryloth to rise up and join him in repelling the droid army. But the Twi'lek freedom fighters are wary of intervention from outside of their race, and are hesitant to trust the Jedi's efforts. With the liberation of the planet at stake, time is of the essence and Mace must rally the natives for their final stand against the Separatist invaders.

With a story developed alongside creator George Lucas and supervising director Dave Filoni, the episode reflects some of the untold stories that necessarily unfold when the canvas is as expansive as a galactic war. Director Rob Coleman and writer Henry Gilroy were intrigued with the prospect of exploring the viewpoint of the conflict's non-military combatants -- particularly with regard to their dealings with the Jedi.

"Jedi were never intended to be generals in an army, and this was our first chance to focus on Mace Windu -- so rather than show him as a fantastic warrior, we explore his exceptional skills as a negotiator," Gilroy says. "We put Mace in a position to recruit the Twi'lek freedom fighters to join the clones in trying to free the capital city of Ryloth."

But negotiations are only the beginning. Once he has convinced the freedom fighters to stand at his side, Mace must lead them in a final fiery campaign against the occupying Separatist forces. The result is one of the most spectacular and complicated battle sequences seen thus far in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Jedi Master Mace Windu surveys the devastation wrought by Separatist forces in "Liberty on Ryloth," an all-new episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiering at 9 p.m. ET/PT Friday, March 13, on Cartoon Network.

"This is probably my favorite episode in that it's a really strong script. Mace is our hero, and there are some really cool environments, which allows us to explore some unique action," says Coleman. "We open in a canyon battle with droids firing on a convoy of walkers, then there's this fortress with a plasma bridge that could turn on and turn off at any time. We did a lot of long shots, moving and staying with the characters in action. So there's a lot of fun to play with here."

I have a feeling this episode will make up for the underwhelming first two episodes completely.

Ha ha, nice one. But Jules actually says, "when I lay My vengeance upon thee" (in his delivery of Ezekiel 25:17).

Looking forward to this episode, as usual. The first two Ryloth episodes were both good, but honestly not quite as good as I expected them to be... but this one could very well tie it all together and make the Ryloth trilogy great overall.

Whoops, I'll have to edit the post.

I wish, after seeing the Ryloth trilogy, that we had all 3 episodes linked together, in typical Star Wars movie fashion, but I doubt they have the budget to pull off multiple budgets and characters in each episode...

Nothing was wrong with the first 2 Ryloth episodes; last week's in particular was one of my favorites of the season.

But one thing I always enjoyed about Star Wars was how Lucas was always able to tie together 3 (usually) exciting storylines that were occurring simultaneously.

New clip, courtesy of big shiny robot. Looks cool--basically an extended version of the Mace Windu/STAP bit in the preview trailer. For those of you curious, it looks like the "muted music" really does occur in the show. It wasn't just edited that way for the trailer. Cool.

Rob Coleman directed this one, so I am excited. His other episodes have been the best.

I think the trilogy has been pretty well linked so far as directly following each other goes. They;re not interwoven, but are far more directly connected than, say, the Nute trilogy, where you had a small recurring plot thread tying together episodes focusing on different sets of characters.

Here, it's literally- Anakin does his job, which lets Obi-Wan do his, which let's Mace do his.

I understand that, but to a certain extent, it would have been cool to somehow have Obi-Wan in place on the planet, waiting for Ahsoka to finish her space battle thingie, and have Mace down there as well.

It doesn't work with the current plot, but they could have changed it somewhat.

I don't know, something similar to the Battle of Endor.

    I'm not saying, I'm just saying. ;)

I don't think they're likely to do that in the 22-minute format, even as a multi-parter. It seems pretty clear they want every episode to be able to be enjoyed as a standalone, even if it's the middle of a 3-parter.

They'd have needed to design the Ryloth trilogy for a movie-length presentation to really do concurrent, interwoven storylines of equal scale that don't have a beginning or end within an episode.

    Thanks for the clip!

I really like that electronic forcefield-bridge... nice concept. It's probably come up in the EU before, but I like their depiction of it.

Awesome clip, it's just a pity that that is probably one of the best scenes of the episode, and now it has been pretty much completely spoiled. I wish I would stop looking at those vide previews...

Anyway, episode looks very good, and I echo the sentiment that the previous two, as good as they were, didn't live up to the high expectations. Hope this one will.

I hope Mace will find the freedom fighters at the beginning of the episode. I dont want to see him looking for Cham Syndulla in the first ten minutes.

There's been a couple of comments to that effect.

Are you guys really that surprised that a Star Wars "trilogy" would end on a positive note?

With all this talk about "negotiating" and "compromising," I would be incredibly surprised (and ecstatic) if Mace used these so-called negotiating skillz to just sit down with the opposite side and discuss peace terms. Like they do in some wars in real life. Because as far as I can tell, there's a whole lot of pwning in the Clone Wars, but not a lot of negotiating.

That scene with the tea in the film doesn't count.

Doesn?t mean its the best way to make them. "JLA", nuff said.

That's an exceptional point. But Palpatine and the Senate's standing opinion on the Separatists seems to be "not allowed to exist." The Jedi have taken that perspective too, simply because the Sith are on the other side. Which accurately sums up another of the problems with the Jedi in the era.
