Mace using a no nonsense push on those droids was easily the most logical and best part of the series so far. Overall the episode was mediocre though imo, Mace was the only thing that made it any good.

I really liked the fact that Wat Tambor and the Tactical Droid (they need a better name, and they should make his voice like Soundwave) decided to destroy Ryloth because it would look bad for the Republic politically.

I mean, this isn't The West Wing or BSG, but that's fairly sophisticated talk about war and politics for a 22-minute cartoon show.

Cham was great too - Orn Free Taa seems like the typical corpulent Senator, completely removed from the daily trials and tribulations (& occupations) of his own planet.

Confirmation on the Ark of the Covenant and other trivia (Mace's shatterpoint confirmed too):

    Trivia & Details

    * The original script for the episode describes Mace Windu using his lightsaber to cut open the fallen walker's canopy. In the final episode, he uses the Force to shatter the glass instead, consistent with his expanded universe talent for finding and exploiting shatterpoints.

    * The Lightning Squadron AT-RTs have "BEA" written on the side of them in Aurebesh letters.

    * An earlier version of the story had Mace rescuing captive Twi'leks from a prison suspended over the caldera of a volcano, however the production paintings of such an apocalyptic setting ended up looking too similar to Mustafar.

    * Clone Commander Ponds has an Aurebesh phrase written on the back of his helmet that reads, "some guys have all the luck."

    * This episode is rather heavy with peculiar Aurebesh phrases. One of the Republic display screens in the background reads: "TROUBLE ON THE HORIZON: Status report of advance trooper recognition therapy syndrome evaluation team current phase of experiment proceeding satisfactorily according to projected schedule." This same screen includes the following notation: "second most important sport right after football."

    * Among the treasures being hoarded by Wat Tambor is the Ark of the Covenant, slightly modified to have Twi'lek cherubim atop the box.

Something to chew on: the resistance leader guy says he's upset the Republic abandoned Ryloth when the Separatists invaded. Well, after the Republic comes back to kick out the droid army he wants them to leave? Helloooo....what's stopping the droids from coming right back?

Also wanted to comment on the Republic's atrocious military tactics (of which Geonosis was a perfect example). Why were they trying to go through a mountainous bottleneck without air support? Why were they going through it in the first place? The Republic gunship is a fine piece of military hardware....it's an Mi-24 Hind fused with a V-22 Osprey and then put on steroids. You can blast the enemy to heck and then land troops behind them, around them and on top of them. That kind of capability practically renders the AT-TE useless.

Wasn't the Staff Of Ra in an earlier episode?

It?s just gone 4.30am and I just finished the the Ryloth trilogy.

    Spectacular.

I guessed early on what the kid was calling Boiler and Waxer, but it still had the right effect on me when Kenobi told them the meaning.

And Windu?s moment on the bridge ? whoa!!! - I actually could not believe what I was seeing.

The last three episodes should have had a cinema release.

    Awesome.

Good episode, on par with Rookies. Maybe a little below... I liked the Commando Droids, and the Tactical droid leaving Wat stranded. Good work droid, show them organics whom is boss! I've noticed that these last few episodes have had material just a few shades darker then earlier eps. Perhaps a build up to a darker season finale and season 2? I hope so. I spotted the Ark the first time I watched it, I was very happy to see Filoni's words come true. And now we have another Sep caught. Perhaps Tambor can help Lok Durd and Loathsome out of jail now. Because there really needs to be a Separatist jailbreak episode. With General Grievous. We haven't seen him for eleven going on twelve episodes now.

As much as I enjoyed the TCW film, the Ryloth trilogy blows it out of the water and would have been even better if they had intercut all 3 plotlines together, Battle of Endor style.

Also, would have been nice to see Obi-Wan just briefly, but I guess he's elsewhere on the planet.

    First, some annoying things:

-Mace Windu didn't sound like Mace Windu

-It didn't really make sense for the Twi'leks to suddenly accept the Republic after making a threatening remark. It's like they just skipped over the early discussions.

And something that made me want to shoot myself in the face:

Anakin and Ahsoka are barely on screen but they still manage another retarded exchange ending with "snips".

&*&% you, you *@^%^&* 'bleep bleep' Edited.

...but I'll just skip over those and say this was a pretty good one.

Anyone notice that the lizard beasts look alot like the one in the "Ewoks: Battle for Endor" TV movie.

Here you can see one of them here.

Lizad beasts ARE the same from teh Ewok movie. They're called Blurrgs.

And I also thought it was contradictory that Cham resents the Republic not being there to aid them in the first place, and yet wants them off the planet as soon as the battle is over. Do you, or do you NOT want military protection?

FettClone1's last post just reminded me of something that came to me watching the last show.

Tambor's vocalizor should go off at *convenient* moments, such that when he's talking to someone like Count Dooku, it would sound more like: "Yes, Count *beeptwerpbeep*. I will be *beepsizzle* when I'm *sizzle* ready."

    That's hilarious.

FettClone1 - they've got different voice actors. Is it really that surprising Carson didn't sound exactly like SLJ?

As far as the "snips" goes, I agree it's terrible, probably the worst nickname I've ever heard, but I find it funny that you're still this worked up about it. [face_laugh]

    Well, picture it this way:

You're having a pretty good day and are thinking, hey, can't complain much.

...then the most annoying person you know busts through your door and wrecks everything.

    Capice, yes?

On the face of it it's bad enough, but why sneak it in when everything else is fine and dandy?

That is the perfect explanation of my feelings upon hearing Anakin and Ahsoka's exchange at the end of this episode. So much so that I yelled at the television, "Are you serious?!" I had a major John McEnroe moment. ;)

OK, I don't like Ahsoka, and I didn't like the cheesy little cameo near the end, but the nickname stuff.. I don't quite get why so many people seem upset/offended by 'Skyguy' and 'Snips' when there's already names like Jar Jar and Annie around, and let's not forget Grievous, Loathsome, Tyranous, Sidious..

common man that was not shatterpoint. That was Mace using the force to push and crap the window/glass. Even Anakin can do that. Real shatterpoint would have been to crack the AT-TE so that the others could pass through not just lift it and through it over the cliff. Man, some of you guys really want every little detail to be EU, and what you guys aren't understanding is that the EU is canon fodder and is being used for the series to enhance it, but by no means to follow it. Wait until the third season, when the announcement gets finally made that this clone wars tv series is going to be the true account of what occurred after AOTC to ROTS. I see that coming.

    Twi'leks riding Endor creatures?

    To the topic of
I wonder if diplomats with vocabulators have a "censor" mechanism that distorts their voices when they lose their marbles.

And Vong...who said the EU can't be BETTER than what Lucas has in mind? What's wrong with a tidal-locked Ryloth as opposed to the same old day/night cycle kind?

Hey, easy there with the EU bashing.

First of all, that WAS a use shatterpoint, Episode Guide puts it quite clearly. So :p

And we all know this show will ignore the EU whenever it wishes. But also, keep in mind that from what we've seen, Dave Filoni and his team are always championing EU concepts to George, and the only reason we haven't seen more of them is because George shoots most of them down. So saying we should forget about the established EU is ridiculous, considering that most of the guys working on the show are always trying to incorporate more EU concepts in the episodes.

So say everything happens in this storyline occurs along the 'terminator' the line that divides day and night. You can go from day to twilight(dusk) to night in a speeder all in an hour. And here's an explanation for the resistance base seen in dusk and night.

    SOLAR ECLIPSES.
Ryloth has five moons and each pass in front of the sun regularly to give the Twileks the equivalent of day and night.

I don´t know but I was rather unsatisfied with the Ryloth Trilogy. It was still high quality enterainment, but since the Trailer I really looked forward for the space battle an Mace and now I only really like the Obi-Wan Episode.

I have some overall issue with the Clone Wars since the last couple of episodes...it´s somehow too redundant. We have the new Jedi of the week slicing the same battle droids into pieces. The series need more character development. I can´t really tell what´s wrong, perhaps I´m getting too old for it. I still like it, but the overall sensation about a new Episode is gone.

There need to be more story arcs, which do not envolve around the typical Clones vs. Droids battles. I really think we have seen enough of it. Perhaps it would be better if the episodes were´nt not that short. I think that´s the reason why the movie still stands above the series in my opinion.
