I guess Ahsoka saying "Master, we're approching Mustafar." Is a bit of an overkill.

Ahsoka: "Mustafar. The entire planet is one large volcano." XD
Now, if Ahsoka did say that, Mustafar (And Star Wars?) is utterly ruined.

Please avoid posting full preview clips in the episode threads. That's what the Preview Clips thread is for. Thanks, Gry.

That's a really weird use for the Mustafar control room.

Why do I have the feeling I'm not going to view Mustafar in ROTS the same way again after this episode?:p

It's only architecture. I'm sure it's not the exact same place from ROTS given that the floor falls away in the episode. I really adore those Mustafarian cribs! I wish I had one when I was just a sprog![face_laugh]

Umm...am i the only one who realizes that this whole entire plot by Sideious totally breaks the rule of two???!!!

    and i thought ventriss was bad! wow. 8-}

Why in blazes does he want an army of dark side users??? The whole idea of that breaks the most important and sacred rule of the sith.

Is there ANY explanation for this???

Hes not saying "an army of sith"

more like an army of force sensitive spies "which ventres is.. but is the counts secret aprentice in a way like maul was to sidious.. the rule has always been twisted.. sith are a devious bunch

The whole idea of a "dark jedi" has just always seemed like such a cop out. Its just a way of cheating around the rule of two and i think this is why we never hear about "dark jedi" in the movies too.

Ventriss is MORE than enough, if not TOO MUCH, if you ask me.

    Don't forget The Emperor's Hand.

    Anyway,

    <img src="http://www.starwars.com/img/theclonewars/news20091006/sidious_img.jpg">

The True Architect of Evil Emerges

As Star Wars: The Clone Wars launched its second season, ruthless bounty hunter Cad Bane was wreaking his maliciously distinctive brand of destruction upon the heroes of the Republic -- but he was merely a pawn in the greater game for galactic supremacy. In the thrilling conclusion to the events set in motion by Bane's treachery, the ultimate architect of evil emerges to threaten the "Children of the Force," in an all-new episode of Star Was: The Clone Wars, airing at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, October 9 on Cartoon Network.

After outwitting his Jedi foes and escaping with the Holocron, bounty hunter Cad Bane begins the next stage of his nefarious assignment: to find Force-sensitive younglings and take them to Mustafar for Sith training.

But Bane is merely the instrument of evil, a deadly distraction to occupy the Jedi while the true source continues to plot from the shadows. While he has been glimpsed in previous episodes -- and in his seemingly benevolent double-role as Supreme Chancellor of the Republic -- Darth Sidious emerges in "Children of the Force" as a direct threat to the galaxy's future.

"He's all the hidden secrets most of us have," says Ian Abercrombie, who provides the smooth and silvery voice of the Janus-faced Sith Lord. "Palpatine is the face, and Sidious is the dark soul. When people are that bad, they cannot change. Somewhere in the back of my head, I know that Sidious is always there and that he will take over. Evil often does."

For Abercrombie -- perhaps best known for comedy roles such as Seinfeld's doddering Mr. Pitt -- providing the voice of The Clone Wars' central villain has been a delicious departure -- and a unique career challenge.

"Somebody told me once that when you play a villain, you must try to find a redeemable quality," says Abercrombie. "I haven't found it. He's cold and completely shut down. So, in my head, it's stillness; he's very precise. He's authoritative, he knows everything that's going on, and so often he's pulling the strings. It's difficult to play, but it's also interesting, because you can't predict what he'll do. I love it."

While embodying the evil of such an iconic character may be new to the venerable British actor, the Star Wars universe itself was not -- though he could not have predicted that he'd be portraying the subversive driving force of that "galaxy far, far away."

"It's quite something, as they say. I was at the very first screening in May 1977 at Grauman's Chinese Theater. The first Star Wars movie ever! I can't even believe it, because I never stand in line like that," he recalls. "But someone sold me on it, and that's why I did. I never imagined I'd be a part of it. It's an actor's dream, playing something bigger and larger than yourself. You can have a field day."

And with the outcome of the Clone Wars a foregone conclusion and his character's triumph inevitable, Abercrombie can let his dark side run rampant and have a field day, indeed.

Assuming, as it's safe to assume, that the Jedi will manage to foil Sidious plan with the younglings, will this be the first time ever where a real plan by Palpatine will actually be prevented ?!! (other than the end of ROTJ and other EU stuff like Dark Empire)

This is quite a momentous occasion. For once things might not proceed "as I have foreseen".

What is your problem?! He just said he wanted the children to be a group of Force-sensitive spies, not Sith. In which way that breaks the Rule of Two?

The rule wasn't twisted. And Ventress isn't Count's secret apprentice in the same way Maul was to Sidious. (Except when Sidious was still an apprentice.)

To create force-sensitive spies does not break the rule of two.

    The rule remains in tact.

And it makes for a great episode too!

I hope to GOD Sidious doesn't lose in this episode, im just keeping my fingers crossed that he walks off into the sunset with the Rodian baby or something, and for the rodian never to be heard of again, or whatever, or at least something to that extent. Basically i would be very dissapointed if they portray Darth Sidious as actually losing in this episode

That's what I meant in my post above. It will be very weird to see Sidious actually lose something. And it's very hard to justify a case where he actually meant for the Jedi to stop his Force-babies plot. It doesn't serve any purpose...

Knowing Sidious, it just might serve a purpose. We just won't know what that purpose is.

Anyway, I don't believe he's going to lose. Regardless of any hero success, Palpy shall accomplish something. He always does.

maybe he may give some vague hints in the scene he shares with Anakin as Palpatine, also hoping we see the ante chamber at some point too

I hope the episode doesn't end with cheerful music and Anakin and Ahsoka walking away with the Rodian baby in their hands. Hopefully, Sidious wins something.
And I find it kind of creepy he's around all those kids o_o

That will be terrible. I do believe Ahsoka may get hurt in this episode. She seems to be a little dark.

She was tortured and almost jetisoned into space in the last episode. I don't think we are going to see her get hurt this week.:p

Personally I would rather have all those kids saved in the episode. That way we get a happy ending to the opening story arc of what has been called the ESB of TCW. And with how gloomy and dark things have got in the first two episodes then by george we need an injection of happiness right now.
