Not that I'm picking on you because I saw a lot of people make now-we-know-Ahsoka-was-lying-for-sure posts, but I thought it was made pretty clear in the last episode that she was fibbing. First she tells Anakin she thought Plo told him and he knew...then right after that she tells him the decision was made after he was already frozen. She couldn't even keep her story straight for 20 seconds.

    *giggles* Picking on me? Am I 12 again? :) (Sometimes I wish...sigh... :_| )

Anyway, she does seem to be generally vague about the whole thing. My thing, though, is I'm not seating myself with the people making "now-we-know-Ahsoka-was-lying-for-sure" statements. I just found the exchange interesting. I'm going to wait and see how it plays out. I mean she probably is lying, and I'm just having this vision in my mind of a scene with Plo Koon giving her a "deeply disappointed" line and she nearly breaks down in tears over it...too bad they probably wouldn't do it that way.

Still, when dealing with a multi-episode arc, I try my best not to make assumptions until the end. After all, you know what they say when you assume.

I never even imagined that PLO had sent Ahsoka. Not a chance.

On the rank difference between Tarkin and Rex, some military historian will have to help. I believe because Rex is essentially Army and Tarkin Navy, it would depend how each of those forces rank their officers.

I had the same reaction to Ahsoka with the detonators. It's pretty much common sense to warn your comrades when you throw detonators between their legs...

Apparently naval Captain is the same rank as army
    Colonel.

A captain in the Navy is equal to an Army colonel or lieutenant-colonel depending on seniority.

    EDIT: What Garth said.

A very solid, well done episode. We can't assume Echo is dead. We only saw his helmet. I bet he pops up later and saves the team.

    LIKES:
-Big props to the Tarkin voice actor - I almost could tell no difference between his voice and Peter Cushing's.
-a unexpected surprise on Anakin discovering that Ahsoka was lying about being included in the mission. This could set up a significant confrontation between the two later on down the road and I only hope the creators don't squander the opportunity,
-When Tarkin questioned the logic behind Ahsoka leading the group, I immediately wondered how the heck did GG get a part in this episode! LOL. Someone must be reading these forums.

    DISLIKES:
-A big negative on how the characters can walk through a fuel line with fumes and not be affeted or incapacitated. Would it have been so hard to give them breathing masks like we see in ESB? I can buy that the "planet" has a breathable atmosphere, but not that our heroes can breath gas fumes and not fall unconscious.

Other than Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Even Piell, Tarkin, Cody, Rex, and Fives, how many people are in their group? Did anyone count how many clones they brought over to rescue and how many were captured with Tarkin? Same with the number of their battle droids I think at least one got shot.

Also why doesn't Saesee Tiin say anything yet!

Something has been bothering me about the citadel planet Lola Sayu. From space it shows that the lower part shows the molten core of the planet. Wouldnt the planet just be void of any atmosphere or something?

Well, it's sorta in character. I remember that Adi Gallia once said "he talks more to his ship than he does to us".

It should be a running gag in the series that Saesee Tiin doesn't talk.....and if he does it should happen when we least expect it.:p

Ouch. I foolishly assumed Echo was injured and out of shot, and would show up to save the day next week, and then read the Episode Guide, which blandly informs us that he is indeed dead.

In a trilogy without much plot beyond running and fighting, it would have been nice to give Echo a little more development before the end. Ditto Even Piell, who was given no time to expand on his personality and peculiarities this week. Only Ani and Tarkin had some time to themselves, and that chat I really did enjoy.

I'd be lying if I said that Obi-Wan and Even Piell magically regaining their sabres didn't annoy me - it's sloppuy writing whatever way you slice it.

I just rewatched the episodes to conclude the following:

Of the three battle droids that assisted R2, 1 got shot on the platform at the end of this ep. The team that went to rescue master Piell consisted out of

    - Obi-Wan Kenobi
    - Anakin Skywalker
    - Ahsoka Tano
    - Rex
    - Cody
    - Echo (dead)
    - Fives
    - 1 blue clone - Charger (dead)
    - 4 yellow clones (3 dead --> electrocuted, bisected, headshot)

Besides Piell there are 5 clone officers (3 with Kenobi, 2 with Skywalker)
All of these are alive as of yet.
That's all I could deduce from the episodes.

    I agree.

I was very surprised with this episode. The small chat between Anakin and Tarkin was interesting. I didn't like that Echo was killed. He was among my favourite clone characters. I would prefer that it was Fives to go, but whatever...

I agree. She didn't say anything, and neither did the others.

If one of your group members tossed a detonator under your legs without consent/warning, you wouldn't just stand there and take it.

It would be hilarious if Saesee wouldn't ever speak... except in the Series finale, of course.

And Tarkin and Anakin agree with FalorWindrider, the Jedi don't have what it takes to bring the war to a shift end. I look forward to an episode where Tarkin does something Machiavellian, have Lott Dod assassinated or something like that. Happy feelings everywhere.

Some sloppy writing but very entertaining episode. The clone cutting in half was surprisingly gruesome even for an off-screen death, but no tears, he'll probably come back.

Just got a chance to watch the episode. Over all it was a good episode. The Tarkin-Anakin interplay worked really well and had shades of "A New Hope" in the way they related to each other. I wouldn't mind have Tarkin around for Season 4 as the Captain of Anakin's cruiser.

It'll be too much. I would like to see Tarkin with Palpatine more than Anakin.

I agree, having Tarkin as Anakin's captain makes the galaxy feel even smaller.

When R2 lands the transport and Obi-Wan isn't there and R2 gets captured...why does the head droid allow him to be escorted by the battle droids that were with him on the ship? Droids that happen to have unique markings that don't match any of the CIS droids that we've seen?

They thought R2 was a traitor, but maybe that doesn't mean that the battle droids were with him or knew what he was doing. And the battle droids came from outside, so even if they didn't recognise the markings, they mightn't have thought it was unusual, they just come from another unit from another part of the CIS.

Sobeck chokes the tactical droid, which might not bother it, but could still damage it - their heads can be pulled off as in Hidden Enemy, I think it was.

And although Obi-Wan had his saber later on after being captured, he seemed to have it hidden up his sleeve so maybe he hid it there and was never actually disarmed at all?

Someone else said about how they should've known where the Republic team was when they blew up the pipeline - that may have given away their position, but the enemy wouldn't know whether they were actually there when they blew it up - they could have detonated it remotely like they did in the last episode.

The fuel line might have been unpleasant and unhealthy but obviously not fatal for short periods. You wouldn't want to stay in there too long though probably.

Perhaps the planet itself has a shield to hold in the atmosphere over a certain area.

I don't see why Ahsoka is being criticised for throwing the charges at the droids - Anakin saw what she did and had time to react, it wasn't as if he was going to get blown up. Warning Anakin would have just given the droids more time to react.

I also made an involuntary [face_tired] when the warden "choked" that droid. I'm not complaining about the logic of why he might do it knowing how pointless it is, it just looks dumb. To me.

Man, I have been doing a lot of complaining about this episode. It really wasn't all that bad. There's just not much to talk about I guess.

At first I begrudged this episode a bit for not having a Part II where everything goes horribly wrong for the heroes (which is what I hoped for and then expected once I saw the "fortune cookie" as it's referred to in these parts), but in the end I think it's a good thing, because instead of thinking I know generally how they were going to go about the three parts, I now have basically no idea what they're going to do in the last part whatsoever...which is pretty exciting. They still could have done a much better job of orchestrating the heroes' escape. Apparently TCW Obi-Wan just ****s out lightsabers at will whenever his is confiscated.

I don't remember any mentioning of her telling her group to watch out or having the camera facing Anakin. If I remember correctly, he was facing the droids with the others, and Ahsoka was just tossed the detonators like bowling balls underneath Anakin's and the others legs and toward the droids. After the explosion, every group member was on the ground because of Ahsoka's actions, albeit unhurt. I would have liked Anakin to keep her contained and in line, just like how Tarkin mentioned his doubts of her. There's no reason why Ahsoka should just smile off camera, not even caring, and just have this "I do whatever I want" attitude. Anakin just stares at her, and that's it.

If I missed anything else, I need to rewatch the scene. But yeah, like I said before, Ahsoka bothered me a lot in the episode.

Tarkus- haha, yes. Sobeck should be feel proud. Choking droids...

I didn't mind the episode, but Ahsoka is just so freaking annoying at this point. Hopefully if she dies they cut to a bunch of citywide celebration scenes like at the end of ROTJ.

I'm pretty sure Tarkin outranks Rex since Tarkin is a Naval Captain which I'm assuming is above an Army captain in the Republic military hierarchy.

Anyways I quite enjoyed this episode. The action and firefights were breath taking I really liked the Commando droids with the personal shields. That trooper being cut in half actually shocked my I probably should have saw it coming but left me shuddering long into the rest of the episode. Also R.I.P Echo you will be remembered... @};-
