"The path of ignorance is guided by fear."

General Krell orders Captain Rex and the clone troopers of the 501st Legion to conquer a heavily fortified Umbaran airbase, and will not accept anything less than victory. It is an almost certain suicide mission, unless the clones can use their ingenuity to defeat their new enemy.

I still love the fortune cookie for this one. I still wonder if it refers to the Clones or Krell.

Umbaran Airfield so reminds of WW2 and battle for Henderson Airfield in Guadalcanal - depicted in so many wargames and document clips-nice history nod and promising idea for an episode of TCW- where were these great ideas when they showed us poisoned tea and stuff?:p Anyway let's focus on positive and forget bad memories:p We do see more designs for umbaran tanks- those look great- Centipede-crawler tank is my favorite.

LOL. True. Perhaps "The General" needs to be italicized or set off from the rest of the text some way.

After going through the many preview clips and images, I think I know what clones are going to die:
    Hardcase and Dogma
How do I know? Cuz they are seen walking alone with Krell in a image I've seen. Other than that image, their only appearances in media were already shown in the last episode. Too bad, I liked Hardcase and Dogma has a sweet helmet design....

    As for who might die:
Kix and Jesse. More so with Kix since he doesn't look widely advertised for these episodes. Jesse on the other hand, is pure speculation based on the fact that "Umbara" isn't in his character bio on the OS. Characters without Umbara are likely to die since the OS still has yet to fill in that data.
Believe it or not, I think Fives will be safe. I know that sounds unlikely but the future is looking bright for this dude....
    Obviously, Rex lives.

Hopefully last week wasn't an exception in terms of quality.

    [face_laugh][face_laugh][face_laugh] Good catch!

Really looking forward to this one. If this arc continues to blend the episodes like this, I kinda think it would be nice to skip these episodes and then just watch the 4 of them in one go for the first time.

I think the only real danger facing the rest of this arc is if it becomes too repetitive. The first episode already almost fell into this trap, and with the ongoing Umabara battle it would be a shame if we started losing interest in this arc due to it just being a sequence of offensives and retreats. I hope they take a page from other successful battle trilogies like Ryloth and vary the nature of the action from episode to episode.

    LOL "The General Discussion"[face_laugh]

Unfortunately long TCW-arcs tend to have more or less disappointing episodes after few good ones.... but well... hopefully this is the first arc without disappointments but doesn't look too probable...

One thing I'm liking about this arc is how it seems to be the first time we've actually got to see a standardized Clone color pattern on the show.

Yes, other episodes have clones with all sorts of insignias, but I like the 501st's standardized coloring for the grunt troops.

The thing about the word "variety" that gets me worried whenever TCW is concerned is that there's only so many things they can consistently do right. Battles and clone-centric episodes are generally safe zones, but everything else falls into the murky depths underneath the silver lining.

As long as they don't try a political episode in this arc where Padme has to shoot her way out of a botched meeting with the Umbaran Royal Family, I think they'll be relatively safe.

We can't italicize titles, unfortunately. I was think of putting quotations around it or bracketing something, but it always ends up looking like snark (Episode 408: "The General" Discussion Thread). :p

    EDIT: NVM -- here's a fix.

Uh... In fact I liked only LAPR that much- Weapons Factory was okay. Legacy was mediocre and didn't like Invaders. Senate Spy- well I am the freak who actually liked it on some odd level:p but mainly because of Lott Dod and Cato Neimoidia.... whatever it was not my favorite arc- it was disappointing after promising start

I had my issues with "Legacy of Terror" and particularly "Brain Invaders". But that arc is still the best to watch straight through IMO.

well I dunno- then there is duologies like Grievous Intrigue-Deserter and Padawan Lost-Wookiee Hunt that are pretty good nearly flawless IMO -but they are not long arcs.... Mandalore-trilogy and Citadel-trilogy (if we don't care about Even Piell-issue) are also arcs without great disappointments while Duchess of Mandalore lacks awaited battle scenes it has very strong dialogue for TCW-ep..... Ryloth-trilogy has bit disappointing end but it is not a bad arc at all....

I very rarely watch "Grievous Intrigue" with "The Desrter" and although I like the "Padawan Lost" duo I've only repeated them once unlike the Geonosis arc. I haven't watched the Mandalore Trilogy in a while but yeah that is definately one of the stronger arcs. Initially I enjoyed the Citadel Trilogy and repeated it a few times. But I got bored with it and don't look at it as fondly now. I think the Geonosis arc is still a good bench mark for this Umbara Arc. Its the only one as long.

Get ready for Krell to get Grievous'd and the clones to get Ahsoka'd.

From the cookie and the description I expect the clones to come off perfect and Krell to get clowned.

So I take it that no one really cares about who lives and who dies then? :(

Not really. That and your ideas were pretty much baseless speculation.

Difficult to see the future is. What images were you talking about? I think we've got a little while to go before we get to the scene in the trailer with Krell, Rex, Fives, and what not up on the cliff. I can't tell who anybody is in that scene other than Rex and Fives anyways.

It is true that it was just speculation and I didn't post sources (I don't even know how, sadly). Baseless? Certainly not.
I can definitely bet those clones are dead in the next episode. Just watch.

The least you guys can do is speculate like true fans yourselves....

It's cool. I'd speculate if I gave a crap about any of the clones.

Hope Hardcase makes it, he's amusing. It wouldn't surprise me if Hardcase and Dogma bite it, since they seem to correspond with Krell's views of clones.

The rest can die in a fire...or not.

The cliff scene obviously has Rex, fives and Krell. That one other clone has full blue shoulder pads, so we know it isn't:
    Tup
    Dogma
    Kix
    Hardcase

That just leaves Jesse (who does indeed make it very far) and the new clone shown on the OS main page (not TCW page).
For those who don't know, the new clone looks like a normal 501st clone but has a couple differences:
-White arrow going through head stripe
-There is blue around the visor, similar to the ROTS 501st clones

This new clone is NOT Dogma.

As for the images.....I saw it on youtube. Some Youtube user made a video of Umbaran images and one of them was a pic of Krell walking with Dogma and Hardcase behind him.
