I get that they're trying to sound symbolic, but that fortune cookie is still moronic.

Becoming slaves to a system is an interesting concept, but it is undercut by the fact that even in a society where slavery is condoned, that does not afflict one's own choices. If you own a slave, you are a slaver. But you still have a conscience, you have the choice to own a slave or not.

I still can't get past what happened to the poor Queen. It looks like they shaved her head and stuck her ears in a Medieval Torture Rack. Also, is there any particular reason they made her face shaped like a Tornado?

They should have just stuck with the old Zygerrian designs, I don't know why they felt the need to make them a cross between a giant Bat and Wolverine.

If they pumped Steroids into Neytiri's ears, then yeah, I could see it.

The premise sounds kind of promising, as far as Anakin goes.

The fortune cookie... I see what they're trying to say, but it just sounds terrible.

Here's hoping this episode will be better. With 'kidnapped', it looks like we're back to mediocrity.

^ The Queen is quite vicious to Ahsoka in the comic (much to Ahsoka-haters glee). Not sure how nasty she'll be in the episode.

I'd rather that they had kept Ahsoka's outfit a secret until the episode aired. Perhaps Cartoon Network insisted on a reveal to assure concerned viewers that it would not be the "overly sexualized" slave outfit from the comic.

I'm curious. Those of you that actually read the original comic when it came out, what were your opinions of it then? Did you think much of it, or were all these "original comic was better" comments inspired by the simple fact that changes have been made?

She looked good in the comic, far better than her appearance in this upcoming episode, and I wonder if she'll have the same death.

It's off topic, but parts of the comic were dull and page-flipping worthy. Ahsoka's appearance in the later issues of the comic was part of the issue.

Well, I was more talking about the Derpy "Imma bein' strangled" face that Ahsoka's got going on, but the Red Sonja queen does look badass.

Well, I didn't read it when it first came out, but I did read it a little while back (Before Kidnapped aired)

The first part was a lot better in my opinion, I loved Xerius Ugg and his fight with Obi-Wan, Ahsoka was a lot less over-powered. She never took out a tank, Rex did that on his own. There was no Commando Biker Droid chase, though we did see the group fighting through B1s and B2s in the opening. We got to see the single most Badass Obi-Wan moment: Him killing a Besalisk by throwing him out of a window with his bare hands. Also they all played a little "Kill Count" game similar to in LaPR, though Obi-Wan actually got involved, with him actually winning, the group deciding taking out a Separatist Commander scored higher then any droid.

The fight on the Slaver Ship with the Blixus took place after Kiros in outer-space. Yes, the Blixus was fought in outer-space. We saw a raid on the Zygerrian ship, in which they learned about the auction there, and then headed to Zygerria for the under cover mission.

The Queen actually fell in love with Anakin (Which I'm assuming will still happen) though to be honest I didn't like this aspect, I thought it was ridiculous that its mandatory for every in-universe female to fall for him. The Queen was quite vicious to Ahsoka, as rumble mentioned, and of course her infamous "Jailbait" outfit everyone here seems to talk about. Obi-Wan and Rex are captured and sent to Kadavo to be processed along with the rest of the slaves, and the Queen ends up getting killed by Dooku after she defends Anakin from him, dying in Anakin's arms, her last words being how she was a "Slave to her heart". [face_tired]

After fighting off both Dooku and Asajj at once and rescuing Ahsoka, Anakin headed to Kadavo, where the Togruta were being processed by a morbidly obese Zygerrian. Obi-Wan eventually got the slaves to regain their hope as the Republic attacked, but at the same time, Dooku sends both Asajj Ventress and Grievous to destroy Kadavo, and everyone there, including the Slaves, the Zygerrians, and the Jedi. By doing this he plans to eliminate any rumors of Separatist involvement in the Mass-Enslaving of Kiros. A Republic fleet led by Plo Koon beats back Grievous, as Obi-Wan places the Zygerrian Keeper under arrest, and Ventress and Grievous are forced to flee. Palpatine sends word he wants the Zygerrian Slave Processing hub left intact under Republic rule, but the Jedi comment how such a building only has one use: To Process slaves. The Jedi decide to destroy the facility, leaving Kadavo.

Overall, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was cheesy at some points, and the whole Miraj/Anakin romance was painful. The Battle on Kadavo however was SO MUCH BETTER then in the show, and the rest was pretty good as well. I'd give the first issue (Battle on Kadavo) a 9/10, and the rest of the comic a 7/10.

The fortune cookies were sometimes passable in the first couple of seasons, but they're either completely trite or actually nonsensical now.

    Lazy, lazy writing.

I don't think it's entirely off-topic since it's related to the discussion of these episodes. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of whether the hate for this arc is in fact just a reactionary response to them making any changes to the original material, or whether it is actually a severe step down in quality. I fully get the case for staying true to the original material to avoid messing up canon, but was the original comic really that great to be worth defending? So they replaced something mediocre with something else that's equally as mediocre. It's still rubbish at the end of the day.

The main thing I'm criticizing is their unoriginality/uncreativeness in adapting a comic that isn't really worth adapting. They would be better off creating a whole new story of slavery than adapting something that's been taken care of previously in their continuity.

I don't mind if you want to discuss the comic and any changes and how that's impacted the episodes we get, but I'd suggest you black highlight any comic spoilers in this thread, because many people probably don't know exactly what is going to happen.

I really liked it. And I'm not just saying that because its adaption bothers me, I remember enjoying it very much. It was the perfect mix of fun and what was, in my opinion, the best look at Anakin's dark side other than the films. Obviously it isn't the most important story, and its retcon doesn't have me up in arms, but I'm pretty disappointed that such a great story is being replaced with such a mediocre attempt to adapt it.

As for the fortune cookie, yeah, it's pretty bad. Based on the events in the comic it's actually a valid point, but the way it's worded is just awkward. And I also agree that they should have stuck with the original look of the queen. I have a hard time imagining Anakin being seduced by a cat lady. :p

You're right Garth, sorry I forgot. I can't edit it anymore however, so if a mod could black out anything you might perceive as a spoiler, that would be very much appreciated.

I really hope I didn't ruin anything for anyone. [face_worried]
