This is why I miss Cartoon Network HD. I can't see the fine details on SD.

Nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. Plus I'm stuck typing with my left hand so...

Very solid episode and a very promising arc. It's great to see the uptick in quality, can't wait for the next episode.

That whole scene was kind of dumb. I guess it makes sense to crash it in the swamp, if they needed to sink it so it stays hidden from view, but he didn't have to crash it in a way they might have died. They're lucky they didn't turn out paraplegics.[face_whistling]

Ahsoka is very attached to her master.
It was a pretty extreme crash. Maybe that's why Obi-Wan always says he hates flying.

If Jango fought like Cad Bane, he would have survived. Think about it: when Bane is fighting Anakin, unlike Jango, he has the smarts to actually step back while he's shooting. Jango on the other hand, just stood there and shot in the same direction while Mace was coming at him.

I think Bane's professionalism is wearing off a bit because he's getting so frustrated with not only Hardeen(Obi) but with the plan as well. His ship continues to get shot down or shot at, they lost 3 in that episode alone.

Now the Jedi are on his tail and that will only increase his frustration.

That is partial because his jet pack failed.

But Commander Fox practically helped bomber droids blow up a block of Coruscant and now he was completely absent while his men failed to stop a prison riot during which three deadly fugatives escaped. I assume Fox won't be one of the two guys escorting Sideous on Mustafar, more his house keeper.

That 30 seconds was excellent foreshadowing and a vague moment of character development however minor. I don't think its in Palpatine's best interest to openly assurp the Jedi's command over the clones even if its obvious at this stage. So he's been loaned a clone bodyguard by Anakin, the man he called his finest who recently gained a reputation for thinking for himself and who is quite capable of running interference for Anakin of his own accord which is why Mace even asked. -- "Can't or won't." -- Then Palpatine walks out, spills the beans, and pokes at the council. Why would Palpatine order Rex to not to say where Skywalker is and then tell him himself? Either way it looks like simple disobedience. Well played Palpatine. Well played.

I think Bane's getting impatient about getting paid and getting his current job over with. He plainly hates Hardeen. He also seemed suspicious when Morale was on the Hologram with Dooku. He knows there is something at the other end of the flight he probably doesn't want to deal with. I think Bane's lack of professionalism is par for the course here. The ships crashing did get repetitive particularly since each time no one got so much as a scratch in such brutal crashes.

The point is that people are trying to reach Anakin, but he's obviously switched off his comlink because he's going after Obi-Wan's killer when he knows he shouldn't. Mace can't reach him, that's why he goes to see Yoda.

Right, I missed that little detail about Anakin being unreachable via comlink. Still doesn't change the fact that Yoda should have told Anakin soon after Obi-Wan was sent to prison, or at the latest once he escaped with Bane and Eval. To keep him in the dark after that point is just heartless and idiotic. Hardine's story was already completely established.

Heartless and Idiotic? I think that's the whole point of this arc - to give Anakin yet another reason to doubt the Jedi order. Imagine how he's gonna feel when he finds out that he's been played all this time by his 'friends', all for nothing. Personally, any little detail in the clone wars that exposes the Jedi's flaws makes me smile; the movies are too lacking in that regard

I was being sarcastic, dude. :p

Commander Fox couldn't protect the contents of a safe whose multiple layers of protection only he could open. He'd inadvertently find a way to let Count Dooku obtain the contents.

Jar Jar Binks could outfox the Fox.

However, I think with all these failures by Fox, the writers may be foreshadowing something with Thire. He's such a minor character in ROTS, but it's nice to know they're paying attention to the details.

Good point about Palpatine not being likely to tell the Jedi everything just after telling Rex not to. No matter the interpretation, a wedge is being driven between the clones and Jedi by the Chancellor.

In general, a lot of nice foreshadowing all round vis-a-vis clones/Jedi, Anakin/Jedi, Palpatine/Jedi, Obi-Wan/Anakin etc.

Ah damn! I thought that was him, I can't tell him apart from the other 501st with the new armor I guess, how does he look different than the normal troops, or does he? I really hope we start seeing more of him, I want to see some ambitious ruthless clones esp Appo who are willing to do anything to get promoted and curry favor. I really want to see them willing to do stuff Rex and Fives aren't. It's interesting to see the chain of command when Rex refused to say where Anakin was going, I'm curious if the order not to talk came from the Chancellor since he outranks the Jedi Generals, or was it a personal thing on Rex's part to protect Anakin? To me this short scene was by far the most interesting part of the episode because of how much it ties into the future. The image of Palpatine with Mas Ameda and Rex just really got my mind racing.

Also really interested to see what this plan really is since obv Dooku doesn't intend to actually assassinate the chancellor (though that WOULD be interesting if he pulled a switchero and actually tired to go through with it), seems like the only goals could be to continue to fan the flames against the separatists or to somehow implicate the Jedi? I'm anxious to see.

But it doesn't make ANY sense the way they have it. As I've said a couple of times now, if they didn't trust him because it involves Palpatine and Naboo, and because of Anakin's relationship with Palps and Padme.

That would tie in nicely with ROTS and show both Anakin and the Jedi to have legitimate complaints about each other.

Who you callin' a dude, dude? Guess its time to change the manly avatar. =b

I agree with you about the wedge being driven between the clones and the Jedi, particularly in the case of the 501st. TCW doesn't have much in the way of continuous plot threads but it lays down alot of bread crumbs to follow. There are alot of chess pieces in this game.

Forgot to mention I don't think there's anyway Palps knows about Obi-Wan unless Yoda/Mace told him, but once again they'd know about Anakin's relationship with Palps.

I think Palps is happy Obi-Wan is gone and he's getting Anakin used to being sent on missions by his...suggestion .

Plus killing Hardeen would drive Anakin closer to the Dark Side.

I figure Palp was encouraging Anakin to seek vengeance on Hardeen which definately would be a darkside move, but played it like he was sending Anakin on a mission of his suggestion to apprehend the fugitives. The later is pretty much what he seemed to tell Mace. It sounded like Anakin was already playing Palpatine's extra security. I wonder if Palps is pulling a David Xanatos and has in fact orchestrated the kidnapping plot and its players from the start and perfectly predicted all the Jedi's moves just to drive Anakin closer to him and apart from the Jedi Council.

    Most likely.

I wonder if the Council thought Anakin might "blab" to Palpatine before they were ready to have him know - one reason to not immediately after the funeral tell Anakin what was going on.

So often in Star Wars, the timing of events and revelations is poor, whether intentional or not.

Really great Episode, Apart from the Mon Cala arc every episode of series 4 has been brilliant in my humble opinion.

    Random Thoughts

    Really enjoyed Palps manipulating Anakin.

Also enjoyed the Windu & Palpatine scene.

Thought Ahsoka lack of reaction to Anakin force choke was brilliant, the seeds of the darkside have been planted.

Though I don?t like Banes new look, the guy is a bad ass.

Anakin is starting to actually live up to the hype (which I approve of), Kenobi & Bane would have both being killed if they hadn?t of bailed each other out. I think little Ani is on the verge of been the greatest warrior in the galaxy.

Kenobi really brutally smashed Anakin, something I didn?t think he was capable of.

I still have a feeling Obi-Wan would've used the Force to save his own life at the expense of blowing his cover. Not only to save his own butt, but also to save Anakin the anguish of finding out later that he ended up killing his own Master. As much as I appreciate the Hitchcockian ramifications of that, it'd lead to a pretty short arc.

Though, on second thought, when Anakin finds out that he's been trying to kill Obi-Wan all along, I doubt he'll be happy about that either. All I know is by the end of this arc, somebody is gonna be mad.

    ^SOMEbody?

[face_laugh] That somebody is definitely going to be Anakin.

I'd love to see how dear old Palpy spins that, too.

I wish, though I rather doubt, we'd see Obi-Wan and Anakin "go at it," but it'll probably be off screen or minimal.

I don't believe Palpatine can see so clearly he can predict everything, I think that's been borne out by the films and TCW.

Remember that Dooku is behind the kidnapping plot so you can guess Palpatine is....hard to keep it hidden from Sidious, right?

I just saw the preview to next week's episode. Turns out Rako Hardeen, the real one, is from Concord Dawn. Does this mean that he's a Madalorian? Also, I'm wondering why he doesn't have a New Zealand accent?
