As the show continues, we've seen more and more that episodes are shown out of order. The TCW Chronological Order Discussion in LACWAC has produced some interesting developments, particularly in ordering the series based on the episodes and episode guides, information from Lucasfilm and Dave Filoni, and the webcomics, particularly from season 1.

I'd like to now expand that project to include all of The Clone Wars series' expanded media. With upcoming changes to character models (particularly Ahsoka getting older), and with word that the series will be moving to a more linear format in the future, I think we can begin to tie together the timeline of the early TCW media, using the time period of The Clone Wars movie to the change in Ahsoka's model (unless future episodes jump back to younger Ahsoka for some reason). I'm posting this in Literature because the focus in mainly on the books, comics and games, and generally shouldn't affect the episode chronology as much.

Here's 2ndQuest's timeline as of 11/6/10, with a few additions of my own to round out the released graphic novellas and season 2 & 3 webcomics (so far), based on when they could appear earliest.

Republic Heroes (Wii version) takes place at the end of the Ryloth arc, and introduces Cad Bane to Anakin Skywalker. It also references Fisto's mission to Vassek as a recent event, tying that into the pre-Ryloth era. Republic Heroes (DS version takes place seemingly during the Ryloth trilogy yet after it, so minimally concurrent.

Jedi Alliance is nigh impossible to place due to the inclusion of Ziro the Hutt as a free agent held hostage by the Separatists, and the Nightsisters. It may become clearer soon, I anticipate.

Wild Space takes place concurrently to the Droid Duo novels, as I recall. No Prisoners is quite difficult to place due it being particularly vague in definition. I assume that Siege/Gambit takes place somewhat post-Republic Heroes as I believe the Skakoan villain from the game escapes. I have not read those, so I could not say, specifically.

    Helps a bit, methinks.

I think the Gambit duo takes place not long after Jedi Crash/The Defenders of Peace because of the injuries Anakin received there et referenced too multiple times. It also goes along with the bio weapons idea, from that duo and the Blue Shadow Virus.

Jedi Alliance would probably be farthest along in the timeline, with Ziro a captive. It could possibly tie into the Ventress arc coming up, since they both feature Dathomiri Nightsisters.

Karen Miller has confirmed in an interview that the Gambit duology takes place between the Maridun episodes and "Blue Shadow Virus." No Prisoners has to take place shortly after the Droid duology since it features new clones that are replacements for those lost on Teth during the film. The DS version of Republic Heroes adapts several episodes, but then it has its own original story that takes place after the Ryloth trilogy but shortly before the other versions of the game.

Republic Heroes goes after "Liberty on Ryloth". The game makes it quite clear that Mace and Obi-Wan were already pulled out of Ryloth during the game, but you put it before Liberty on Ryloth, in which Obi-Wan and Mace are still fighting on the planet.

Am I the only TFN-poster that AB-so-lutely loathes LFL's 'hopscotch-approach' to the chronology of this series? Trying to watch this clusterbomb in the 'proper, linear order' would be a nightmare, while sleeping at a house on Freddie's street.

Whoops! Thanks for the catch, I think I placed it on that line by accident. Zorkel had some insights via his timeline in the LACWAC chronological order thread that can be implemented too. Also remembered the short story Outfoxed from Target. Since there's no time given, and it was a movie tie-in, I'll assume it happens after the movie.

I think there needs to be a little more space between Gambit: Stealth/Siege and The Valley/Blue Shadow Virus.

One of the pieces of evidence for placement is the Queen of Naboo. In Gambit: Siege, the Queen of Naboo is still Jamillia, but the Queen in Blue Shadow Virus is Neyutnee. There's no evidence in Gambit that her term expiry was imminent, nor is there anything in Blue Shadow Virus to suggest that Neyutnee has been queen for only a day or week.

So while it's possible that those two stories fall one immediately after the other, circumstantial evidence suggests that something is between them. Possibly Cold Snap/Trespass.

First off, I'm glad somebody decided to tackle this one--I was getting tired of putting comic after comic at the end of the timeline. :) I'm curious as to the reasoning behind placing "No Prisoners" just after "Ambush"--I have it right after "Wild Space" and the droid due, but I can't remember why.

There's also the Decide Your Destiny series, which is a little tricky because not all of the books have been released in the US, and the ones that have been released were released in a different order in the US and UK. Either way, the numbering doesn't seem to correspond to a chronology.

The Way of the Jedi takes place during the film, with the sections featuring Ventress taking place specifically during the later part of the film. There are some end pages that seem to take place just before the Ryloth trilogy.

Tethan Battle Adventure takes place during the film.

I've been told that Crisis on Coruscant takes place just before the Droid duo, as it has an appearance by Gha Nachkt, who was killed in those episodes.

The timeline placements of The Lost Legion and Dooku's Secret Army are up for interpretation.

A pre-TCW series that you might want to put on the timeline are the Boba Fett novels...there have been several indications that many of the novels might best be placed within the timeline of the show now....but I don't know if we want to go moving around the pre-TCW sources just yet.

Was one of the Secret Missions placed immediately post-Malevolence due to the presence of the wreck, being scavenged through?

I am of the opinion that Republic Heroes (DS) must take place between the Ryloth Trilogy and Republic Heroes (Wii), by it depicting the Battle of Ryloth within it, and then going off on its own tangent. In the DS game Juma 9 is attacked by the Republic, whom use the stations sensors to detect Grievous and his anti-Jedi superweapon on Mustafar (having obtained codes to penetrate its defences from Vassek when Fisto recalls a signal he detected their in his recent adventure there), and then in the Wii game Juma 9 is attacked by the CIS whom need it to track down components of a second superweapon, which definitely takes place post-Ryloth as the initial Ryloth levels in the Wii game are described, as I understand, as mopping up operations from the main battle.

So it definitely has to go Nute Trilogy/Ryloth Trilogy/Republic Heroes (DS)/Republic Heroes (Wii), in relatively quick succession.

    Some more items:

25 to Rescue: a WotC miniatures/rpg scenario that takes place right before the TCW film. It's set during the fighting on Christophsis when the civilian population is still there.

Fierce Twilight: a game on the Cartoon Network website. Takes place .

Path of the Jedi: also on the Cartoon Network site. Contains some new info.

Journey Through Hyperspace: a UK kid's book with an original story about Ahsoka being tricked by a fake distress signal into going to Tatooine. Probably takes place early on in her apprenticeship to Anakin, since she's even more naive than usual.

Breakout Squad: takes place immediately after the Malevolence trilogy (the next day, if memory serves). Features Palpatine hiring Cad Bane, so we know Palps knew of him long before Hostage Crisis.

Curse of the Black Hole Pirates: takes place immediately after Breakout Squad.

Republic Squadron: a plug-in-and-play game with original story. I've never played it and have never come across any info about when it takes place.

Point Blank: a WotC miniatures/rpg scenario (one of the last they posted before their SW site was taken down) that is set very late in the war, probably only a few months before RotS.

TCW phone game: this has to take place prior to "Cargo of Doom," since Denal appears.

In my opinion, the first page of Shadowed should take place before Cat and Mouse, because it features the Confederate invasion of the planet, Loathsom declaring the planet belongs to them, and then Anakin and Obi-Wan on a Venator on the way to Christophsis (They could split into separate ships later) Now, the rest of the comic should take place after Cat and Mouse but before Hidden Enemy obviously, because the Republic is on the surface, Slick is still fighting for the Republic, and they discover the buildings we see in the opening of Hidden Enemy. So it should go:

    Shadowed (First Page)
    Cat and Mouse
    Shadowed (Rest of It)
    Hidden Enemy

Also, the Cartoon Network online games should be non-canon in my opinion, as they contradict a lot of canon. For example, Ahska/Anakin/Yoda on Vessek, helping Kit Fisto.

As for Republic Heroes DS, some of it will have to be non-canon. First, we make the first level of Ryloth take place between Innocents and Liberty. Let's say that two more Proton Cannons have been discovered, and Ahsoka has been temporarily dispatched from the skies to meet with Obi-Wan, they take down the cannons together, Ahsoka meets back up with Anakin in space, while Obi-Wan continues on the Western Hemisphere (Like mentioned in Liberty).

During the battle (Let's say again between Innocents and Liberty) for the second level of Ryloth in the game, let's say Padme and Kit have been dispatched to Ryloth to rescue Cad Bane among the carnage of the battle around the planet, who has important info that could hurt the CIS. They rescue Bane, and Bane leaves, Kit and Padme leaving shortly after. This could also be Bane's first appearance into canon.

Now, for a brand new story line, which could take place after Ryloth, and before the other Versions of Republic Heroes (Due to Count Dooku mentioning Behpour in the end of this game) as for Anakin and Ahsoka still in Ryloth in the other versions of Republic Heroes, we can say all the Jedi/Clone Commanders/Captains whatever, were pulled out of Ryloth, thinking that the droids deactivated, only for after the final level of the DS game, realize it wouldn't be as easy as they thought, and Anakin and Ahsoka are deployed back onto Ryloth to clean up, while Obi-Wan heads to the newly retaken Juma-9. Now then, we can make the first part of the first level (Obi-Wan and the Rookie) and then the second level (Anakin, Padme, and Yoda) a completely new and separate battle from the Christophsis battle that was in the movie, that could work out well. Next, with the new Data from Bane, Luminara heads to Grievous' Lair, which was abandon by him after Kit Fisto's assault, she finds the Data, only to be trapped within. Next, Plo Koon heads to the Lair to Rescue her, and the two escape with Gree. Next, Plo and Luminara head to the old Republic mining station of Juma-9, which has been taken over by the Confederacy and put into the command of a Tactical droid. They capture the bridge and destroy the Tactical droid, but help is needed so Obi-Wan heads to the station to power-up the array, successfully tracking Grievous' weapon. Just ignore Obi-Wan's last line about the Separatists being able to have the station back. So the Republic fully retakes the station. Next and lastly, the events of Mustafar and ending cutscenes happen.

And as for Jedi Alliance, I think we should wait until the Ventress Arc passes to decide.

No, he appears earlier in Breakout Squad, which takes place right after the Malevolence trilogy.

Other items that should be added to the TCW timeline:

Bridge 242: an rpg scenario in WotC's Galaxy at War. Takes place .

Operation: First Breach: an rpg scenario in WotC's Galaxy at War. Takes place at least "some months" after the beginning of the war. Also must take place after the Battle of Brentaal IV from the comic Jedi: Shaak Ti.

Double Down: an rpg scenario in WotC's Galaxy of Intrigue. Takes place sometime early in the war.

WOW! Lots of responses with lots of info to sift through. First off, with Zorkel's permission, I've standardized my color scheme with his so that all the timelines are easy to follow, despite any ordering differences.

Taral - Moved Tresspass & webcomic between Gambit books and Virus arc.

TalonCard - I believe No Prisoners is where it is on this timeline because 2ndQuest came to the conclusion that Ambush/Supply Lines and Droid Duo overlapped. Since my primary timeline for episodes and webcomics is based on his, I followed that. If you think it should be moved however, let me know where to put it, as I haven't read it myself. As far as placing the pre-TCW Boba Fett books, I'm actually in the process of reading them now. I'm on the 5th book, and I see what you mean about how they could fit into TCW timeline, but we don't yet have a clear picture of when they occur relative to the episodes that feature Boba Fett, especially if we get more in the future. There are things to look for though, like his relationship to Aurra, and in book 5 where I'm at they just mentioned Wat Tambor escaping Republic prison (which he is in during TCW at this point). So I guess we'll have to wait and see. I for one look forward to integrating what we come up with here into a larger CW EU timeline.

Sinrebirth - thanks for the insight on Republic Heroes DS. I'll need to double check the graphic novellas and Rookies to see if they can be moved before Nute trilogy as you suggested it should be a rapid succession. I also have to take into account what legosithmaster pointed out, so for now I'm leaving it unknown.

Plaristes - Added unknowns to Unknown list, and added known Decide Your Adventure books and RPG scenarios. Any more info on the phone game that might pinpoint when it takes place relative to other episodes, besides before Cargo? On the WotC RPG scenarios, were all of those relating to The Clone Wars (new series), or at least introduced after TCW movie was released? If not, let's put those on hold unless they take place within the TCW timeframe. If so, that's fine. I just want to make sure we focus on TCW-related Clone Wars material, before we move into surrounding CW EU relating to the other cartoon, books, comics, etc.

legosithmaster - That's a lot of info to go through, and for now let's leave Republic Heroes DS in unknown. We want to avoid as much story speculation as possible until we're able to fit it in. I agree on Shadowed, especially after I read it recently. We probably should all decide, though, if we want to go into details like that and split up works into pages or minutes, or if that should be left out for now. As I recall, part of the beginning of Wild Space takes place right at the end of Attack of the Clones, so you can see where it would get messy down the road.

Zorkel - What is the HoloNet News article in TCW UK magazine, issue 13?

I don't have the ability to edit my posts after a certain amount of time (90 mins I believe), otherwise I'd do that. If someone else who can do that wants to take up the job of updating the timeline that's fine with me.

Yes, they were all released after TCW started (some of them even include stuff introduced in TCW, like commando droids). As for The Way of the Warrior, I know Eddie has a copy (like almost everything else). I haven't ordered it since it hasn't been released in the US yet, as far as I know.

...except that it seems to be referencing events from The Clone Wars game released just after AOTC--a part of the Dark Reaper was found on Raxus Prime in the game. Unless the show is remaking the game, which doesn't seem likely, or the reporter was just citing old information, which is possible but doesn't seem to have been the writer's intention...

we might add OLD CW EU as well IF it is referenced by this new TCW+TCWEU, like Jabiim is referenced several times, especially in the TCW Movie novelisation. Also the OLD CW CARTOON with the knighting is set before this new TCW series, even if the ROTS relevant parts of season 2 are not, we might add this as well.

By adding these referenced parts of old EU we have it easier to pinpoint later the rest of the old EU into the new timeline.

And since the latest Star Wars Annual from August had a nice timeline with TCW series set in the second year of the clone wars, we might take this as a basis even if we do not use dates here yet. Thus enough space to keep most old EU before the series and only ROTS relevant stuff after it, though that remains to be seen. Wild Space's dates are in error as already confirmed, though I hope this does not affect its timeline placement or story.

I don't think we should start including old CW stuff yet until we've worked out all the TCW material first.

However, perhaps if we note what TCW sources reference old CW material for future reference, it could be useful groundwork.

    ie:

    Book X *1
    HNN Y *2

    Notes:
    *1: Mentions Jabiim
*2: Mentions Battle of Raxus Prime from CW Video Game

    etc
