Actually my Utes are playing very strong right now too. But yeah, the PAC is still a bit soft compared to the midwest and South. Bowl bound though.

Ole Miss really should have adopted Admiral Ackbar as their mascot. That way, they could remain the Rebels and have been warned about the Gator game: "It's a trap!" :D

Honestly, so much happened yesterday I have no idea what the rankings will do today.

I think this is going to turn into one of those seasons where we just simply have no idea who's actually all that good. Is Michigan State good? They looked it against Oregon, but not so much against Purdue. Then again, is that Oregon win worth anything at this point? Utah looks good, but how much credit do you give to that Michigan win, when Michigan is already very clearly not the team they were in week one? TCU's biggest win in non conference (Minnesota) looks less impressive every week. Ohio State has struggled against every opponent. Northwestern might have the best win in non-conference (Stanford), and the Pac-12 looks set to completely cannibalize itself. Notre dame looked good, but the injuries were always going to catch up with them.

Shades of 2007? When Number One/Two lost like 800 weeks in a row, and then Ohio State backed into a title game they had no business in, against a team that probably shouldn't have been there except the actual best team in the country didn't win their division thanks to tiebreakers (that'd be Georgia, folks).

If I had to do a Playoff Four right now, I'd probably go

    1. Utah vs. 4 Northwestern
    2. Florida vs. 3. TCU

But I have about zero conviction. On any of that.

Gamecocks will be giving up their home game on Saturday, instead playing at LSU due to the flooding here. Les Miles has said that Baton Rouge will accomodate South Carolina and the fans in any way possible, as they are a team and a community very familiar with temporary displacement due to weather. Also, in an incredible gesture, Vanderbilt University has sent many of its athletic vehicles, packed with bottled water and supplies, to Columbia to help those in need.

Also, Rew - I should have checked on you earlier. Are you alright? My area of Charleston got spared, somewhat, but we're still feeling it down here.

My 5-0 Cal Bears will get a good measure of the team when they face the Utes this Saturday.

    GO BEARS!

Thanks heels! Yes, my clan and I are fine--we're extremely fortunate that our cul-de-sac is located at relatively high elevation and away from any creeks or rivers. There are some houses--in neighboring subdivisions and even in our own--that were not so lucky. I'm glad to hear you're doing alright too!

Also, LSU is being even more classy in that their band is also learning the USC fight song to make this weekend's game feel a little bit more like a home game for the Gamecocks. Very accommodating--though I remain under no delusions that the actual LSU football team will still destroy ours mercilessly. :p

LSU can relate to what South Carolina is going through. In 2005, LSU had to have its "home game" against Arizona State at Arizona State because of the effects of Katrina.

LSU put this up outside of their stadium. They also are sending their charter plane to Columbia to pick up the team, giving all game money to USC, setting up their A/V to do all of the normal pre-game activities for USC (hype video, Sandstorm, etc).

A school that I always never really liked has really shown extraordinary compassion and class this week - even though Carolina isn't my primary team, this is my state, and I see and hear this much means to the fanbase.

Yeah, I was explaining to mavjade last night -- if there's any school that understands this, it's LSU...

UGA's running back, Nick Chubb, knocked out of the game with a major injury.

Tennessee had the ball at the UGA 1-yard line, they fumble and UGA returns it for a touchdown.

What a classy move from LSU. I've gained a lot of respect for them as an organization.

Huge game for Mizzou tonight. We really need this as a quality win over Florida. And Drew Lock, a true freshman from my home town, may now be starting at QB for the rest of the season. Maty Mauk has been suspended indefinitely by the team and the rumor is it's for cocaine use and possibly even trying to sell it to teammates. I have always hated Mauk as a player, but this is downright despicable. He should get some help but he also needs to be done with football. Can't imagine how nervous 18 year old Lock has to be taking over now.

Drew Lock is a prototype NFL quarterback, big guy with a cannon, reminds me of Matt Stafford - played well against Carolina last week. Florida will be tough, though, but Mizzou winning will bring the field a bit closer together.

I am disgusted by Tennessee's play, really, so I flipped over to see the Gamecocks rip off a 96 yard return touchdown. Nice game, from the look of it.

This is not going well for Mizzou. Where's the vaunted defense now? And Lock and the receivers don't seem to be totally in sync.

And oh yeah, poor Chubb. I watched the clip and oh man that hyperextension was bad... No wonder he passed out.

Crazy score: 66-7...not Baylor over Kansas, that was to be expected, but Portland State (FCS) over North Texas (FBS). Sometimes, a FCS school beats a bad FBS school, but not like this. Portland State played like the FBS school while North Texas played like a FCS school.

Southern Cal has asked Sarkesian to take a leave of absence to deal with an undisclosed condition.

Reports are that he showed up to team meetings this morning drunk off his ass, and had to be escorted out. He's in the middle of a nasty divorce, apparently, which is awful. I hope he gets the help he needs, his life depends on it.
