If it's at 105$ for the preorder it might be at 80$ when it will be released.

Darth_Harmon do we have the confirmation that the complete set s1-5 contains the jedi temple archives ?

I am a little more tempted to sell my set for the Collectors thing given the price. I just wonder what all the features are gonna be. It better have the archives.

The archives are in. The official site says that the 1-5 set collects the discs from the individual releases. WB does this a lot. Reusing discs from past releases for collector's editions where the main draw is new packaging and an art book (Harry Potter and Dark Knight Trilogy did this).

I'm sticking with the individual seasons. I love the packaging of the first two, and love the covers of 3-5. Despite the change in packaging, from digibook to slipcover, they managed to make the spines consistent from 1-5. Plus, who knows how the bonus content will be presented on blu-ray. I hope it is in-line with the design of 1-5, either as a a tv-movie collection or each arc in its own release.

I want to know why Amazon UK has not updated their pages for this so I can pre-order. The listings for the DVD/blu-ray have been there for at least a month now and when an announcement does come they don't update the page????

When I got the Complete Seasons 1, 2 and 3 in a boxset it still had the same covers. My season 1 and 2 the back of them are a little different though. If this is the same type of set to encompass all of Season 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 they will probably have them with the same covers in some way in the set.

Per the WB shop (and the picture on amazon seems to back this up), it's looking more likely season 5 is going back to being a digibook like seasons 1-2 are. If so, I'm going to be kind of disappointed. I was hoping they'd all look the same. I even re-bought 1-2 so they'd match. Now, it might be back to digi book for #5? Figure it out WB. c'mon. I know I'm being somewhat crazy about it, but it doesn't look right with 3 digibooks and 2 amaray cases.

I'd love to get the digibook format back. I don't mind that the spines don't match. That seems kinda silly though since it looks like S5 will be a smaller set.

Considering that I don't have any of the seasons on DVD or Blu-Ray, I'm really tempted to purchase the full set in the future once I do have the petty cash to spend on it. This seems like a good deal, plus there's the art book and all the extra material. It would definitely be nice to be able to watch these episodes on a bigger screen with surround sound and whatnot. I only wish they would put everything in chronological order, but I guess you can't have everything.

As an extra selling point. the TCW Blu-rays for S4 and I can only imagine S5 are the kind of thing you can run on your HDTV when you want to show off its picture quality. Its that good.

Indeed. I'd add the padawan duology at the end of S3 to that list as well.

Oh yes. Wasskah is just so beautifully rendered. Even after S5, I'd still say it's one of the most well-crafted environments seen on the show.

Speaking of the padawan duology, isn't the concept picture on the first page of the art book included in the complete set depicting the Trandoshans' trophy room?:

For the complete set, will seasons 1 and 2 be given new DTS-HD tracks to match 3-5? It would be like what Fox did with the huge Bond 50 box set with giving Casino Royale a DTS-HD soundtrack so that all 22 movies had the same audio format.

I hope so, though that doesn't necessarily mean they'll sound better. Better mixing and the voice acting are what improved the sound in season 3, and to a larger extent, 4 and 5.

I could see myself spending $80 to get the seasons on Blu-Ray if the price drops to that.

I'll wait for a complete set that includes all episodes, the movie, and the bonus materials, arranged in chronological order.

Possibly, possibly not. I imagine they'll release it shortly after the release of the bonus materials.

I'll just mention the fact that Warner will never own the rights to the distribution for the bonus content so it makes a complete box set impossible.

Disney don't own the rights to Season 1-5. But they will with the bonus content.

Now if a complete miracle happens I'll be surprised, but you have to take into account that it is very unlikely that Disney and Warner will work together on this. Disney will want all the profit and Warner will want profit. If a complete, full boxset is ever released I'll eat my hat.

Really? Eating your hat won't be necessary, but are you sure about that? I'm a bit confused about distribution rights--how come WB has distribution right over Season 5, for instance?

Seasons 1-5 aired on Cartoon Network, which has a distribution partnership with Warner.

Yes, but how did WB retain the distribution rights of season 5? Lucasfilm was purchased by Disney while season 5 was still being broadcast, IIRC,and the home video distribution hasn't even been released yet.

They retained it because it was part of the contract they signed before Disney purchased Lucasfilm. Disney will have had to honour the contract that Lucasfilm had with Warner. CN is owned by Warner therefore Warner will be distributing Season 5 on DVD/blu-ray, same with the boxset of Seasons 1-5.

Now, Warner bought exclusive rights to airing and distributing The Clone Wars. That contract could have an end date at some point if the ownership of the distribution rights reverts back to Lucasfilm in which then a complete box set would then become possible. At this present time a complete boxset is impossible because Disney do not have the distribution rights (and neither do Lucasfilm) for Seasons 1-5, whereas they will have for the bonus content.
