Um, yeah, erm, so... who's going to introduce us Canadians to Aussie Rules Footie?

 

Firsty its pronounced 'footy'

Not long until the season starts. I believe JabbaTheNutt has a tipping competition going on as well. If this year is anything like last year's then anyone could win it. I strongly urge all Canadians to enter

Let's start here ...

Not all grounds have the same dimensions as the diagram except the height and distance between the goal and behind posts, and the ground markings (ie 50m arc, centre square and circles) are always the same. With one exception where a ground has a 45m arc in stead of a 50m arc ... stoopid Sydney Cricket Ground.

There are 22 players per team, and 18 can be on the field at one time.

The objective of the game, put simply, is for a team to score more points than the other team.

Teams score points by kicking the ball through the middle of the goal posts.

Scoring and the rest of the rules can be really confusing so I'll leave that for later ...
