I want to take up knitting now, I saw a tops I'd like to do on knitty.com but I don't have any needles and I don't know how to knit.

 

That is so going to be my next project.

 

Does anyone know of any small and easy knitting projects that would be good for absolute beginners?

 

hot pads/pot holders are super easy (just knit a square) and don't take very long. Just use a cotton yarn instead of an acrylic one so they are easy to clean.

I made myself a pair of slippers. They are a tad big so I think I need to felt them some more. They are great for sliding across the kitchen floor though.

Glad to see this thread upped, I had wondered where it was I just ordered a whole bunch of candle oils to replace to stock I used up last Christmas and at Mother's Day on Mom's gift basket. It's about that time for me to be making them again

I've finally got both needles and wool but I can't seem to knit anything at all. Either I can't get started or it messes up very quickly.

 

Knitting + The X-Files = win

I've decided to make this practice bit into a scarf, I'm not quite sure though why as I made quite a few mistakes. It's about 8.5" long now.
