In my crafty news, I just joined a sewing class! So maybe soon I can have some actual skills and stuff

I finished up my brothers ewok. He requested one that was emo. I call it an 'emok.'

I will post what I make (Pants! are the first project) if it isn't completely lame.

The first thing we did in class was make a pincushion, which is now a kitten cushion. Because it tastes delicious to cats. Apparently.

 

Nice job on the emok and the scrapbook Yvette.

Pulsie enjoy your sewing class. I had more fun learning how to sew from someone that was not my mother the perfectionist.

 

This is my first completed project in over a decade and the very very first project I have done all on my own. The afgahan I made for mom back when I was in high school, I had a whole lot of help on from my teacher at the time. This is a 100% Laurie original.

I am so uber happy and proud of it! The kitty is too, see?

Thanks Yvette! I originally had thought about doing four shades of purple, but the two looked so nice together, I just left it at that.

Yeah he sat on it right as I was getting it in place determined to include himself.

He's a definite ladies man.

Any other JCers interested in glass blowing?

I've taken twp series of classes now that were pretty neat.

Here's my progression from the first class:

First time I ever tried to make anything. I did the standing up one, and the one on the left (deemed "Cat-Troll") was a joint attempt by my father than I.

The next class, I did the one on the left.

Things shaped up a bit...finally much less thick, but a bit misshapen. I did the glass, middle bowl, and left flower.

I managed both of these my fourth week. Pretty nice progression for a 4 session class for beginners

 

Wow I really like that blue glass, it looks really good Aragorn! I've always loved watching it being done but never done it myself. Don't have access to the kind of equipment necessary for that, sadly.

 

Star Wars, Lego, *and* paper crafts!

The instructions are in Japanese, but they should be fairly easy to work out how to do without them.

I thinking about getting into stained glass. I still do the photography thing, and pick up a paintbrush on occasion, but I'd like to get back to working with glass.

 

Okay no laughing. I did this chalk because I felt like it for no reason. Nothing to look at, just from my head.

This has taken me FOREVER (7 months!) and I am not 100% happy with it, but it is my first attempt and I am done! And next time I make one, I know what I will do differently.

Thanks! I keep seeing things I wish I did differently, so I think I'll be doing another one shortly. Otherwise I will go crazy pulling this lil guy apart.
