All of Bubba's suggested manifestations of the "Dangerous, Homicidal Rage of The Left" are either (1) fully justifiable, (2) improbable to the point of being ridiculous, or (3) both.

If George W. Bush is reelected, I fully expect an attempt on his life.

If the terrorist threat is as great as Bush makes it out to be, then an attempt on his life by somebody, at some point, will hardly be remarkable. But the idea that the Democratic Party will sponsor an attempt to assassinate Bush is plainly ridiculous, and Bubba gives no evidence or argument to support his expectation.

...if Kerry does not win at the polls, Democrats will sue in the hope that he will win before a judge.

Ah, but Bubba knows as well as I do that it is impossible to have the actual decision of the electorate subjected to judicial review. What he must mean, then, is that Democrats will avail themselves of all possible legal avenues to ensure that votes are properly counted and that electoral procedures are observed. I fail to see how that can be in any way a bad thing, coming on the heels of an election in which thousands of (mostly black) voters in Florida were illegally disqualified because their details were similar to convicted felons.

This is not just my conclusion, incidentally; it is also the conclusion of the Commission on Civil Rights, which found that "statistical data, reinforced by credible anecdotal evidence, point to widespread disenfranchisement and denial of voting rights". The Commission recommended that "[t]he U.S. Department of Justice should immediately initiate the litigation process against the governor, secretary of state, director of the Division of Elections, specific supervisors of elections, and other state and local officials responsible" for "their actions or failure to act before and during the 2000 presidential election, in violation of the Voting Rights Act". See Voting Irregularities in Florida During the 2000 Presidential Election, on the Commission's website.

...it seems likely to me that Democrats will try to impeach Bush, using as an excuse either Abu Ghraib, WMD's, or both.

What an excellent idea! Credible evidence having been produced of a criminal disregard for prisoners' human rights within the current administration, the impeachment process should be commenced without delay. And while they're at it, the House could consider the real, unnoticed scandal of prisoner abuse: "rendition" of captives to other countries where full-blown torture is practiced as a matter of course. But of course, this possibility is fanciful, since the prospect of a majority of the House passing bills of impeachment against the current President, even if the House were to fall into Democratic hands, is nonexistent.

It's clear the Left does not care about the truth in their contemptible lies about Republicans supressing the black vote, privatizing Social Security, and reinstituting the draft.

Much of Bubba's problem lies in the fact that he sees "the Left" (or even worse, "The Left") as some kind of discrete entity that stands, falls, and takes responsibility as one. This is wrong. There are a vast array of individuals and organisations on the left side of the political spectrum. Michael Moore's factual inaccuracies no more impact upon John Kerry, than Ann Coulter's distortions impact upon President Bush.

As far as Bubba's examples of "contemptible lies" are concerned, one need look only to the Civil Rights Commission report on the 2000 elections in Florida to find an account of how "suppressi[on of] the black vote" happened. As for "privatizing Social Security", you'll have to provide references, but as far as "reinstituting the draft" is concerned, the transcript of Kerry's comments in the second debate reads as follows:

"Our Guard and reserves have been turned into almost active duty. You've got people doing two and three rotations. You've got stop-loss policies, so people can't get out whe

Some people are so swept away by propaganda, either for one side or the other. When this happens, it is impossible to look at either side in an objective manner. Bubba, you've convinced me that you are one of those people.

The election is a process that establishes power. Power and the desire for power corrupts absolutely. To believe that either side is honest about the other, or about their own, during an election is foolishness. Any polititian will cater to any whim of the voter, by all means necessary. They all lie to gain power. To believe that power has not corrupted one candidate or the other, likens said candidate to The Uncorruptable. Foolishness, blasphemy and blindness.
