a friend of mine told me that they were thinking of using Hush for the/a villian. i couldn't confirm that with any of my sources but personally, i think it's time for the killer moth.

And as for the returning character?
    [image=http://www.thedarkknight.matthewclose.co.uk/scarecrow.jpg]

Since Ra's al Ghul is a title instead of an actual name, I'd say it's possible. Perhaps Talia will take up the mantle.

But Liam Neeson returning? Not likely....unless they retcon it that he was actually a disciple of Harry Houdini.

I agree. I think something like The Return of the Dark Knight would sound better.

Didn't the last movie have Dark Knight in the title?

Scarecrow better return. As far as male villains go, there's got to be at least one appearing in addition to the possible female one. And if it's not Riddler, and it's not Joker, it better not be the penguin.

The title should just be GOTHAM.

    That is all.

Or perhaps they could have used the name from the cancelled Shumacher project:

    Batman Triumphant

What would have been wrong with Batman Rises? Or Gotham Rises even? I think use The Dark Knight Twice is a bit silly. But a title does not make or break this particular movie. Batman Begins certainly wasn't the greatest title but it was a great movie.

I don't think she'll be in it...if there's no Joker, Harley would be really tough to include.

I wouldn't be surprised if the studio had some influence in including "Dark Knight" in the title to ensure people know it's the sequel to the billion-dollar-grossing film The Dark Knight.

I don't like the title. It should be distinct like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight rather than the second film's title with "Rises" tacked on.

The Dark Knight Rises from the Return of the Caped Crusader would have been a perfect title.

If they keep the title, it's gonna be kinda awkward to say out loud. When I buy my ticket, I'm just gonna be like "One for... eh, Batman."

Generally, I hate it in all movies when someone who was defeated the last time, returns. That means you can never take pleasure from the defeat of a villain anymore, because you'll know that probably something happened off screen and he somehow survived, or broke free, or escaped, or what have you, and they'll write him back for a sequel! What's worse is, when this has happened once, you never again believe the ending when he is caught again, thinking it's just the writer playing with you again. What you get, is Murdock from MacGyver. He falls off a cliff! But then, the next time, there he is. At least, he's a little entertaining when he does return, if you're into MacGyver in the first place. Even worse than him, is Lana from Smallville, who has also died and returned, and said goodbye forever and returned, and done both at the same time and returned.

The thing is, with comic books, villains and "dead" characters return all the time. If Batman had simply abandoned that self righteous attitude towards murder, he could have stopped the Joker from crippling Batgirl, killing his second Robin (who also RETURNED from the dead), and so and so on. Batman villains return so frequently that you'd think that the prison system/arkham asylum had a revolving door.

Obviously, Nolan separated The Dark Knight from being your typical comic book movie by making it into a serious drama/tragedy. That said, I don't particularly believe that when Nolan says that "some characters will return" he was referring to already defeated villains unless they're in minor roles (like how Scarecrow had only 5 minutes of screen time in TDK). Maybe they'll do a cameo scene with the Joker or something...
