    Lorn Romar
    Shuttle

Lorn gave the boy a reassuring nod, hinting he had done well. Then he allowed Varon to reign in his men.

When Oren had finally left he was alone with the man who clearly was in control.

"Are we together in this?" Lorn smiled. "I actually don't know what caused this anomaly. But if I had to guess I'd say any natural source would have come to our attention by now. So I guess a certain notorious group of pirates called the Dark Moon might be behind this. After all it is a perfect situation for them, is it?" Lorn leaned forward. "My young colleague was right about one thing. Time is of essence. This station will run out of supplies sooner or later and the pirates might be on their way here. So can we please skip the pet where you pretend not to have ties to the pirates? They are in your neighborhood and yet you seem not to have suffered from any attack, ever. Clearly you have found an arrangement."

    Teela "Tee" Valom
    Aton IV, Taraxes-System, Xantu Pit

Teela's mind was racing while Salom, who was now laughing at the alien,
responded to his question. "We can fly. Just not hyperspace."

"Not that far away the mining colony is." the strange alien said and
Salom raised his hairless brows. Teela frowned. The mining colony?
Salom, who now seemed to have become part of her 'crew', continued to
    speak to the alien.

"Nine hours or so. Seven with her ship. But why should we ..."

The strange alien spoke up immediately. "I pay." He stated. Warning bells were now sounding off in her mind. The air of desperation was palatible. "Save. You will be save on Prime. Not save here. The Pirates,
    they are coming."
    He gave a gurgling sound.

Teela shot Salom a look. Save? Did he mean safe? And Prime. Was that the name of the He had mentioned pirates earlier. Now it seemed that they were going to get more than they had planned for. But Teela was not some smugler or dealer or anything like that. She was a simple girl trying to have a vacation. But her ship. Well, she didn't want the pirates to get ahold of her ship either. Teela wondered how he knew that pirates were on their way. Were they chasing him? Before she could ask, he spoke up once more.

"I need to deliver things. Important things." He shook his head. "Pirates must not get."

Teela snorted softly. This entire vacation was going bad quickly. But neither
did she want to be standing on ground zero, with possible pirates inbound. She frowned darkly, as she looked at the alien. "Mining Colonies are not known for being friendly places." she stated slowly.

"So, how we supposed to approach a place, without getting shot? Especially if they think that pirates are in the area? You got a way to do that?" She asked him.

"Im no smugglar." Teela stated. "But you tell me that, I might consider giving you a lift." Teela made a face. "But whatever we do, best we do
    it quickly."

    IC: Oren Jorr
Hangar, then Main Plaza, Aton IV

There was something about the elder Duros that Oren didn’t like. It might have only been his heightened sense of awareness in the face of a crisis, but his gut told him otherwise. It materialized as a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach that often warned him of impending danger. That feeling only increased when the alien granted him access to the plaza under his ‘personal protection.’ Oren frowned at this news. So, it wasn’t a free pass to have a look around; he would be watched.

Biting back a retort, the young man only nodded, forcing himself to show gratitude for Varon’s ‘hospitality’ and cooperation. If the Duros truly did have malice in his heart, he had a feeling it would reveal itself soon enough.

With a final glance at Lorn, Oren took his leave and entered the turbolift to make his journey to the main plaza. During the 25 level decent, he ignored the droid that accompanied him and instead focused on the subtle vibration under his feet and his own troubled thoughts. It occurred to him that his efforts to find Master Auron would be greatly impeded by Varon’s directive...unless he found a way to ditch the escort. He knew it would be difficult with the tight security, but it wasn’t impossible. The only problem was making sure that he didn’t seem too obvious about it. He would need to think it over...

Almost on cue, the turbolift shuddered and came to a halt at the designated level, a pleasant female voice announcing their arrival from the loudspeaker above the door. Pulling his robes tighter about himself, Oren inhaled deeply and stepped out into the bustling crowds beyond...and immediately regretted it. A turbulent wave of emotions instantly assaulted him through the Force, causing him to gasp and stagger back for a moment until he could regain his bearings. While he managed to suppress it with some concentration, it remained as a dull roar in his ears, quietly reminding him of the fear and uncertainty he must overcome. The entire plaza held an air of foreboding. It was enough to make Oren shiver.

Of course, it didn’t help that everyone in the vicinity had stopped to stare at him. For a moment, Oren thought he had done something wrong, but then he realized that it was his distinctive attire that had drawn their attention. Apparently it was uncommon to see a Jedi visit the main marketplace of Aton IV.

Or at least, one who was so obvious about it...

Uttering a quiet curse under his breath, the boy began to shrug out of his brown robes as if they had been soiled, but he stopped himself when he recalled Lorn’s words: “...and we are Jedi. People look at us for help. If we betray them by looking nervous, they will lose hope. Hope is very important in situations like this. Okay? So no matter what happens, we display confidence."

Did that also apply to situations where he felt as if he would be overpowered by crazed citizens seeking answers? He could see the desperation in their faces…

And yet, he had a duty to perform. He was a Jedi; a beacon of hope to these people and the rest of the galaxy.

With a sharp intake of breath, he made up his mind and raised his chin to follow Lorn’s lead, projecting both confidence and strength. With his hand resting comfortably on the lightsaber hilt bouncing against his thigh as he walked, Oren eased himself into the crowd.

Aton IV, Taraxes-System, Jangar of the Order

Varon stared at Lorn for a moment and then nodded.

"Of course we have. Before your precious Jedi Master vanished, the Republic was not exactly caring about us you know? I did what I had to. For my people. But arrangement? The Black Admiral is not the kind of man who you meet eye to eye if you understand what you mean. We sell them Coaxium for their ships. They have a lot ships, you know? Profitable business. It also makes us ... too useful to mess with us." He smiled. "A Nexu never pisses were it feeds, you know?"

"We keep our Coaxium away from the creepy hands on this station on a separate smaller space station. We gave the Black Admiral access to it for a fee. That is where they fuel their fleet. If this situation continues this Coaxium is priceless. It is all that keeps the ships flying and without the ships ... this station has supplies for a month usually. But with this explosion of visitors? If we ration it we might make two weeks." Varon sighed. "You see Master Jedi? This situation is much worse than anybody understands."

Aton IV, Taraxes-System, Xantu Pit and Grande Plaza

Salom seemed distracted as he looked at the crowd, but the alien stayed focused on Tee.

"Know me. They know me. And they need delivery. Medical supplies. Vaccine. For Duros." The alien leaned forward. "They need or many Durooooos die." He spelled the word Duros in a strange way.

Salom ignored him for now. "Is this a friggin Jedi over there?" He asked. Indeed it was a Jedi.

Oren Jorr made it to the central plaza where people still listened to the Devaronian preacher. The Droid followed in a respectful distance. The crowd parted for him where he went. Even the Devaronian became irritated by his presence. "See! See a Jedi!" He suddenly shouted and whoever had not noticed him so far, did now. A thousand heads turned to him. "Tell me Jedi, what will you do? The force and all that it can do ... how does it feel when all your power is useless compared to the power of the void? How does it feel? The Void! The Void is coming and it will come for you first, Harbinger of Lies! The Jedi! The Jedi brought this upon you, too! They have travelled the stars to bring peace and now peace is here. The eternal peace the Void will all give all those who dared to explore it!"

Everyone expected Oren to answer. Everyone expected him to defend himself. The force was burning with anticipation.

"The boy is in trouble." Was all Salom said and even the Alien got distracted and turned his attention to the scene.

    Vrolla
    -Aton IV, Corridors

"Yea, this can be handled." Vrolla responded confidently, arms folded. "And we wont be needing outside assistance to handle Jedi." He repressed a sly grin that was creeping at the corners of his mouth after saying that. He had never tangled with Jedi before, but he knew that catching would be a hell of a payday. It would also mean some serious response from the Order, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. "If we run across the Jedi, my crew and I can take care of them."

He was not entirely confident about that statement, but it wouldn't show in his tone. He had learned years ago how to throw a bluff around and no one cared or second thought you as long as you came through. His attention was now shifting towards his new allies. Dorcin had a reputation of betraying his allies if the situation was right. Given the assistance he was being provided, he would have to move his team swiftly against the Order, while guarding themselves against whatever Dorcin and the little guy would plan against them. That was fine, however. Again... Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    "So, we have a deal?"

    Lorn Romar
    Hangar, Aton IV

Lorn looked at the elder Duros and realized why the man was so open about a pact with a wanted group of pirates.

"You are afraid." Lorn nodded. "They won't share the Coaxium and with those fighters you won't be able to hold them off for long." The Duros nodded.

"What do you know about the Dark Moon, Master Jedi?" He asked and put his head aside.

"They are a pirate group with quite some resources, operating out of the nearby asteroid field." Lorn shrugged. "They have enough ships they are considered a fleet. Which could be a rumor or legend."

The Duros shook his head. "It is not. Three Battleships they possess. About thirty fighters. Well trained and disciplined shocktroopers. A bulk transport. A fully equipped base. They are lead by a man called the Black Admiral and he organizes them more like a navy than a bunch of outlaws. They are disciplined, effective and very brutal."

Lorn nodded. Three battleships. They indeed had a small fleet.

"You know the capabilities of those ships?" Lorn asked.

"They are old but effective and of a design I do not know. Two of them would be more than your Hammerhead could handle. All three might be enough to overcome both this station and your warship." Varon nodded. "I am deeply concerned. Especially because they have ceased all communication."

Lorn gave this some thought. "You think they are coming for you."

Varon again nodded. "I am certain sooner or later they will understand that this system does not produce food or supplies. They will cease what they can get their hands on."

So they faced indeed a superior force and the confrontation seemed inevitable. The Republic could not let them take Aton IV. Lorn could not allow thousands here to die by the hands of the Dark Moon or by starving to death.

"We have a response fleet waiting, but the anomaly obviously makes them entering the system impossible." He sighed. "You think they are behind it?"

Varon shook his head. "I think the Jedi are. The other Jedi."

Master Auron. Lorn had not forgotten his motives to join the mission. Master Auron.

"He was here, was he?" Lorn asked.

    Teela "Tee" Valom

Aton IV, Taraxes-System, Xantu Pit, near Drande Plaza

While Salom looked off, Tee was paying close attention to the alien in front of her. She asked him how they could approach what was probably such a well-guarded place. Well, she guessed it might be. He was swift with a response. "Know me. They know me. And they need delivery. Medical supplies. Vaccine. For Duros." The alien leaned forward. "They need or many Durooooos die."

Teela crooked an eyebrow skywards, even as the hairs on her neck began to rise. There was something that felt very wrong about this. But that wasnt the only reason. She felt something. Something strange. She rubbed her neck.

"Is this a friggin Jedi over there?" Salom's voice rang out, causing Teela to look away
from the strange alien, towards the area that Salom was now looking at. And he was right. It certainly looked like a Jedi. It was being followed by a floating droid. A droid? She turned her attention back towards the alien, not wanting to take her eyes off of him for too long.

And then the preacher who had been spouting his brand of panic also spied the Jedi. That wasn't difficult. She could easily hear the commotion. It didn't take long for him to latch onto the Jedi. "See! See a Jedi!" the preacher shouted. They have traveled the stars to bring peace and now peace is here. The eternal peace the Void will all give all those who dared to explore it!" All eyes turned to look towards the young Jedi.

Even the alien now turned and looked at the unfolding scene. She continued to watch the alien. Here was someone who wanted to get off the station. If pirates were coming, she could see his point. She wouldn't want to be on the station either. She was fully stocked, as she was prepared for her vacation. She considered the options. Even if this alien was lying, she could vape him right out of her ship, if he was a problem. But if he was even vaguely telling the truth.....

    "The boy is in trouble,"
Salom stated. "You think?!!" Teela muttered softly. He aint
the only one, she thought silently. Either if she took the alien at his word or not,
she could understand pirates. Thousands of beings trapped in one spot. Nowhere to go.

She didn't think that even the Jedi, especially two of them, could do much. Where was the other Jedi, she wondered vaguely. As pirates tended to attack in large numbers. Whatever it was that was messing with the drive systems, needed to be knocked out. Because that meant the pirates were stuck here as well. And he called the mining place, Prime. And claimed they would be safe. Another reason to think they would be well armed.

"Salom," Teela said very softly, and slow. "We all might be in trouble. Whatever you plan on doing, better do it quick. Cause this crowd is most likely to panic." She then looked towards the alien. "You got a name, I can call you? Since you already know my ship, meet me near my ship. But you better get out of here. I feel things are about to get very..."

Teela paused for a moment, before she added, .."Complicated."

Teela began to scan the area, trying to gauge the mood of the crowd, and looking for a quick way to exit, if things got uglier, while she waited for the Jedi's response, if any.

    IC: Oren Jorr
    Main Plaza, Aton IV

As Oren moved deeper into the bustling crowds, he found that his confidence was beginning to wane. It was one thing to listen to Lorn’s advice, but to successfully implement it? That was something else entirely. He could feel their eyes on him with every step he took; they were nervous and fearful in his presence. It was the complete opposite of the goal he had set for himself.

But it wasn’t until he reached the central plaza and stepped into clear view of the Devaronian preacher that he knew he had made a mistake. "See! See a Jedi!" the alien suddenly shouted above the din of the gathered assembly.

Oren instinctively shrank back at the attention, his eyes darting back and forth as everyone turned to stare at him. For the first time since arriving on Aton IV, he felt every bit like the boy he truly was – fourteen years old and barely old enough to face the dangers of this galaxy. Jedi or no, he was still only a scared child. If only the ground would open up and swallow him to save him from the embarrassment…

In fact, he was so scared, that he was barely aware of the preacher’s ongoing ramblings. He heard something about the Void? Harbinger of Lies? Blaming the Jedi? What did that all mean? It all swirled around in his mind and jumbled together until it no longer made sense. His confusion manifested itself in the form of a blank stare, his mouth unhinged with surprise.

And then the Force cried out and bristled with anticipation; he felt it at the base of his skull, the sensation raising the hairs on the back of his neck before traveling down the length of his spine. They expected him to answer for this nonsense.

Oren’s jaw worked hopelessly. At first, he didn’t think he would be able to find the courage to speak, but after several tense seconds, he swallowed the lump in his throat and finally found his voice. “I-I don’t know, sir,” he uttered meekly, his eyes firmly focused on the Devaronian at the center of the mob. “I...don’t know about this Void, but I want answers like all of you. Th--that’s why I’m here.”

He inwardly winced. So much for expressing confidence. Maybe it would’ve been better if he had kept his mouth shut...

Varon nodded. "Master Auron and his disciples were here, yes. Five Jedi who tried to go unnoticed. They visited Onzy's Starmaps, an exquisite resource for navigation material." Varon lay his head aside. "I try to stay out of the business of Jedi. So I did not sniff after them. A course of action I now regret."

Varon folded his hands behind his back. "So what do you suggest we do about the pirates?"

The Great Dorcin stepped forward and offered his hand. "We have a deal." He said and then took out a datapad and handed it to the two pirates. "You will find the content of box 22/77 very useful. Bay 9. We kept it for the case an opportunity like this presents itself."

His small companion turned to Nox meanwhile. "Not underestimate the Jedi you will. Will you? The contract will pay 300.000 credits each." He nodded to Nox.

"You see?!" The Devaronian shouted out and pointed his finger on the young Jedi. "How helpless they are? How weak? How desperation already begins to spread even within the ranks of the oh so mighty Jedi!" Then he addressed Oren directly. "For your heretic ways the Void will claim you first, Jedi!"

Salom stood up on his tentacles and looked at the scene. "We should help him." He just announced and obviously wondered how. "Where is the damned Master of the kiddo?"

"Tray. Call me Tray." The Alien said and nodded. "I will be there within the hour." He quickly turned to leave, obviously not wishing to be around when the situation got out of hand.

It was the moment the Alien left and the Devaronian took a deep breath to release another hate speech Tee suddenly felt an uneasiness. A feeling of cold and hostile will. Oren would feel it clearer and he would be more familiar with it. Even a Padawan in his stage was vaguely familiar with the cold and deadly touch of the Dark Side.

Oh they really want them dead.

Nox answered the request with a nod and then turned to the pirates who had probably been handed the means to cause chaos and destruction. A perfect environment for the hunt on the most dangerous prey.

He waved and his two small droids hummed alive again and came closer. "Toraaan bat Jedai." He ordered them in his native tongue and they both left to go looking for his prey.

With a nod he turned and left, not caring for the Hutts business. Whoever "ruled" usually did so by the grace of a higher power.

So Master Auron had been here. And he had been searching for starmaps. That probably meant he had left the system again to travel deeper into unknown space. That would make him untraceable for Lorn. Secretly he had hoped for another five well-trained Jedi to support them. He would indeed be alone in this with a Padawan.

"The Voice of Authority will protect the base. We should get the Coaxium here. I know it is a risk, but we cannot defend two stations. Please arrange the transport immediately."

He folded his arms and thought about the potential dangers he did not yet think about. "What about the station? Can we trust the inhabitants to support us?"

    Occupation: Slicer/Communications Specialist
    Age: 32
    Force Sensitive: No
Equipment: Datapadd, encryption and decryption keys, an R7 juiced up droid good for slicing into computer systems without leaving a trail.

Biography: Jenica is the only child of Nubians. Her father owned an export business in the capital city, selling sweet fillings to go into pastries (like IRL, caramel, chocolate!) LOL Her mother is an adjudicator for Family Services.

Jenica has been on Aton IV for the past 3 years and was waiting to evacuate off when the current governor was "elected".

Her friend, Kalira Bryson, an independent freighter Captain (ship named Starry Ice), was going to pick her up and become part of her crew, when the Dark Moon got shut down in this current crisis.

Jenica is definitely not in Varon's camp.

As Salom stood up, surveying the scene, the alien spoke to Teela. "Tray. Call me Tray." The Alien said and nodded. "I will be there within the hour." He quickly turned to leave. Smart.

Teela turned her head back to the unfolding scene as the self appointed preacher began to speak once more. "You see?!" The Devaronian shouted. "How helpless they are? How weak? How desperation already begins to spread even within the ranks of the oh so mighty Jedi!" Then he addressed Oren directly. "For your heretic ways the Void will claim you first, Jedi!"

Salom spoke then. "We should help him." He then added.. "Where is the damned Master of the kiddo?" Before Teela could deliver a retort, she suddenly felt the strangest sensation. If the hairs on her neck were standing up before, they were joined by goosebumps and a very creepy sensation. Teela scanned the area. Could that be a reason this creep was busy trying to stir up the crowd? It was a scary thought. She had heard rumors about what some people could do. Teela looked back at the Devaronian. Those types were impossible to ration with. And all it would do is draw more people into his rhetoric. Would could they do, to help what looked like a very young Jedi? What would...?

Teela started to chuckle. She picked up her glass and wove her way thru the crowd, to get closer. She didn't step right up front, but close enough to be heard. She then burst into gales of laughter.

"Ahh... you idiots are all alike. All gloom and doom. We're all gonna die. And everyone is a heretic. So let's blame someone. Ooooooh lookie. A Jedi." Teela let out another long laugh. "Why don't you idiots every come around when something GOOD is happening? And of course, you know all of this, because of yer best friends with the Void, right?" Teela gave the being a HUGE smile. "Ehhh, tell us something we DONT know. We all got issues. It's all major Poo doo right now. But I'm not running into panic mode, cause some wermo claims 'something' is out to get us."

Teela laughs once more, and takes a big swig of her drink while looking over towards the young Jedi, and giving a slight tilt of her head. With folks not staring at him, maybe he would get the hint to disappear off into the crowd, and get outta there. She was freaking out, as she played her role, but she knew she needed to get the crowds thinking about something else.

"So, sleemo, wadda ya get out of this? Maybe ya gots a pickpocket buddy out there, fleecing the crowds, while you got their attention on yer performance.." Teela gave a darker laugh, as she rubbed her neck, turning to walk away. "And spare me the heretic speech."

Teela begins to walk away, keeping an eye out to make sure the idiot didnt try anything.

    "Joka."

Teela stepped up her pace, hoping that Salom would keep his eyes open. If the preacher started up, she would simply ignore him and laugh. Hopefully. She was not in the business of saving people's butts. But hopefully, this would save her own as well.

Suddenly, getting off the planet sounded like a really good plan right now.

Varon raised his non-existing brow. "There are always those loyal and then there are always those who are not. There are even those ruthless enough to take advantage of this situation." He looked at Lorn. "Also the alliance between my Order and yours might make them think twice before acting against us."

The elder Duros awaited an answer when Lorn felt it. A trembling in the force, a feeling as if something had just entered his perception. It was cold and deadly and he felt it was close to Oren.

Kalira had asked Jenica to hack into the central databank of Aton IV to find out what the hell had happened to hyperspace. So Jenica had found the nearest data node and as always the outdated computer system of the station was easy to access. Kalira had joined her and cowered next to the woman, looking over her shoulder to see any answer.

There was none. The Order and Varon were as clueless as everybody else. But the something showed up. Jenica wasn't the only one in the system. Someone else had sliced into it and that one wasn't looking, he was actually working it. "Go to primary." Kalira whispered and there it was. Shields were powering down. Flag batteries:19 of 20 offline. Security doors: Unlocked. Location of enforcers: Uploaded to communication array.

"What the hell are they doing?" Kalira asked and leaned closer. "The station is basically defenseless."

The Devaronian did not expect a counter attack clearly and looked at Tee as if she had just took a Rancor from a hat. Then he shook his head. "You will see what your mockery will bring you ... you all will see!" Waving his hand he looked at the people around him. They were curious. But they did not have the fame feverish hypnotized look they had before. Jumping of his box he pointed with his finger at Tee.

"The Void will take you! It knows you!" He gasped out. "Teela." He added and without explaining how he knew her name he made his way through the crowd.

"Nice." Salom just smirked and looked for the Jedi.

Aton IV, Taraxes-System, Lower Levels near machinery, Jenica and Kalira Slicing into the Computer System

    Jenica was astounded!

Someone was doing systematic, deliberate things, not poking around here and there, like an amateur!

"Go to primary." Kalira whispered urgently.

Jenica perused the screen, noticing the data points on crucial targets.

Shields were powering down. Flag batteries: 19 of 20 now offline. Security doors: Unlocked. Location of enforcers: Uploaded to communication array.

    Kalira asked tensely:
"What the hell are they doing? The station is basically defenseless."

"Not only is it someone with tech savvy," Jenica answered with a rush of icy dread coursing through her veins: "But they have clearance. They're highly placed, or know someone who is." Jenica paused before continuing. "That means we need to find more than one culprit, the one who's actually orchestrating this situation."

    IC: Oren Jorr
    Main Plaza, Aton IV

Instead of panic, Oren only stared at the Devaronian with genuine curiosity. The more he heard about this ‘Void’ and the influence it had over these people, the more fascinated he became. He was seemingly unfazed by the imminent danger looming before him and the way the alien had directly threatened him by calling upon the ritualistic qualities of this mysterious Void.

Is this what drew Master Auron to Aton IV?

Oren felt compelled to explore that possibility, perhaps even confront the Devaronian in the middle of this frenzied crowd and press him on the issue, but before the boy could will himself to act, a cold embrace consumed his body. His hands began to shake and he felt himself wavering on his feet. In the next instant, he gasped as the icy tendrils made their way along his spine and pushed against the base of his skull. They felt like spindly fingers prying into his mind and forcing him to look up, to look towards the edge of the crowd and witness…

    Witness what?

He could not ignore the call any longer. With short, shaky breaths, Oren turned his head and narrowed his dark eyes to search the fringes of the plaza, seeking out the source of this deep loathing. There was a flutter of movement, and then it materialized in the form of a dark wraith dressed in black robes. They locked gazes for the briefest of moments, the cold sensation that had invaded his mind seeming to spike with the gesture, before the specter dissipated into the crowd.

Again, Oren gasped as the fingers retreated and the coldness left him. He was left standing in the middle of the group of onlookers, confused and shaken. While he couldn’t explain exactly what happened, he knew it had been a warning; the Void, whatever it was, now filled him with dread. He had to take this information back to Lorn. Perhaps the older man would have answers about--

A slight stirring in the Force suddenly broke into his thoughts. It wasn’t the same malignant spirit that had accompanied the wraith; this was more subdued, but urgent...almost as if someone was in danger.

Instinctively, Oren focused his attention on the crowd, scanning each individual until he came upon a young woman causing a scene among the cultists. It was plain that she was toying with them, spouting nonsense about their beliefs and seeming to stall for time. As if to confirm this, she turned her head and curtly nodded in his direction. She was doing it for him?

“No, no…” he started to mumble under his breath, a wave of apprehension rising in his chest. He could not allow her to get involved. The Void, the wraith, the warning

Suddenly, the Devaronian hollered to address the crowd. "The Void will take you! It knows you!" There was a slight gasp from his throat. "Teela." Falling silent, the man started across the plaza to confront the woman...this Teela.

That’s when Oren sprung into action.

Without thinking, the boy bounded through the congregation, ignoring the surprised faces and angry cries as he pushed his way to Teela’s position; it was important that he reach her before the Devaronian did. At one point, someone managed to grab his outer cloak as he passed, catching hold of the hem and trying to pull him back. He quickly released it with a grunt and carried on.

When he finally made it to her position, sweaty and out of breath, he latched onto her hand and began to lead her away without introductions. “We need to go!” he shouted above the deafening din. “It’s not safe...we need to go now!”

    Lorn Romar
    Hangar, Aton IV

The cold tremor in the force made Lorn shiver. He turned his head slightly and tried to locate it. The Dark Side. Here on Aton IV. The center was somewhere below, he could feel it. Reaching out he tried to locate it, as he raised his hand to silence the elder Duros.

    Oren! It was near Oren!

His lightsaber leaped from his belt into his hand and he turned to Varon. "I must go." That was all he took time to say as he turned and ran to the elevator.

He had to get to Oren. The boy was too young to face the Dark Side alone. He was not ready? But ... was Lorn? In his twenty one years he had never before faced the Dark Side directly. He had to trust the force to be his ally. It was all he could do.

    Teela "Tee" Valom
Aton IV, Taraxes-System, Xantu Pit, Drande Plaza

Tee rather enjoyed the look the Devaronian had on his face when she challenged him. It was definitely something out of her norm, but having a massive panic attack was not about to help anyone. The Devaronian looked at Tee as if she had sprouted a new head. Then he spoke directly to her.
Then he shook his head. "You will see what your mockery will bring you ... you all will see!" Waving his hand, Teela kept her eyes sharply trained on him, in case he decided to go violent. But so far, the crowded seemed to calm down just a bit. Tee took a stance as the preacher jumped off of his box, pointing a nobby finger towards her.

"The Void will take you! It knows you!" He gasped out. Then he added, "Teela." The 'preacher' then began to walk off, making his way through the crowds.

Teela worked hard to make sure that the shock she just felt did not reach her face. Instead, she simply scowled darkly, as she watched the Devaonian made his way through the crowd. She had broken the spell, and the crowd seemed to be calming down now. But she had to admit, that him calling her name, seriously creeped her out. But she refused to acknowledge it right now. She simply wanted to get out of the area.

"Nice." Salom just smirked, as he looked around. Tee grinned and gave her friend a wink. "Well, that was fun. NOT. Now we gotta..."

New sounds of surprise and panic began to reach her ears and she turned her head to find out what was going on now. Had the preacher done something...?

What Teela saw, made her eyes go wide in shock, as she now saw that the young Jedi was making her way towards her. And he was not being subtle about it either, shoving people out of the way. What was he doing? Suddenly, a very out of breath Jedi was in front of her, and without warning, latched onto her hand, and began to yank her through the crowds. WHAT THE KARK!!!

“We need to go!” he shouted. “It’s not safe...we need to go now!” was all he said, while he dragged her through the crowds, making his way through with a swift pace.

"Wha?" was all she managed to yelp, as he yanked her through the crowds. Why was he shouting? Why did he suddenly decided that they needed to run through the crowds, possibly causing more problems, instead of simply walking?....why HER? Her head was swiveling like a dancers pole, as she tried to figure out what was the source of why he was acting like a deranged mynock. She didn't see any danger, but she followed him until they got out of the crowds, and to an area that was less crowded. Then she put on the brakes, as she put her other hand on the one he had latched onto, and planted her feet.

"WHAT....ARE....YOU....DOING!?" she hissed at him through gritted teeth.

    Kalira

Kalira gasped. "Someone in the Order?" She asked as she realized they were the only ones with clearance high enough. "Why would they make the station defenseless?" She looked at Jenica. "I only know one reason why someone orchestrating this would do something like this. They prepare an attack on Aton IV." And with her words the final flag battery went offline.

"Can you locate the one doing this?" She asked.

It was not easy, but there were only two or three terminals where someone could do something like this. It was pretty clear from the data stream this wasn't done from the security center or the bridge of the station. Which left only the central data node two levels below them.

A dangerous place for a traitor to be. If he destroyed the node it would take weeks to repair it and power up the defenses again.

Aton IV, Taraxes-System, Xantu Pit and Grande Plaza

Salom had a hard time following the Jedi and Tee as they fled the plaza where people began to spread now and return to their daily schedule with worried looks.

When they finally found a quiet corner behind the Xantu Pit the alien pilot had lost them in the crowd.

So they were alone as Tee asked her question. Well, they were not alone they found out ... when a raspy voice filtered through a mask answered from the side. A hooded figure stood there in dark robes and slowly removed his hood.

"I am no expert in the behavior of young scared Jedi, but I would say he was running from me." The raspy voice of the Stranger said. The words were underlined by a blue lightsaber hissing into existence.

IC: Jenica and Kalira in the Data Access Center

Jenica frowned. Someone with technical knowledge, clearance, and free run of the station in order to be able to get to a restricted location like Kalira suggested ... "It's a precursor to a later attack, a bigger one." Jenica said. "If we can't stop and reverse the sabotage, we can at least give a warning? But would anyone listen?" Jenica sighed. We're all barricaded in here, like sitting hawkbats.

"The Jedi." Kalira spit the word out with contempt. She had no love for the mystics, she had expressed this several times. "He would know we speak the truth. They can ... feel it." Looking at Jenica she sighed. "Heard rumors we got two of them on board. Can you hack into the holofeed? Start with the Grande Plaza. If I were them, I would go there."

Kalira sighed. "Let us warn them and then get to our ship. We can't go to hyperspace, but we can go as far away from this station as we can."

IC: Jenica with Kalira in Lower Levels

Jenica grimaced, knowing full well Kalira's deep aversion to the Jedi. She delved into the holo-feed for the Grande Plaza leaving a cyber trail that would be hard to track back to the point of origin. It wound a circuitous route and gave a live pickup of the activity in the plaza. Someone was haranguing a large crowd, it appeared. Then a young man dashed wildly through the crowd bent on apprehending someone? No, on closer observation, he was leading someone - a young lady - out of the crowd in order to do what? She frowned. What connection did any of that have to the sabotage going on? She voiced this to Kalira.

At any rate, Jenica mused, Kalira's suggestion that they get to their ship was a good one. Better steer far wide of the Plaza, while they were at it! And give their warnings to whomever might listen at a safe distance.

    Lorn Romar
    Plaza, Aton IV

The cold tremors kept on growing. Something ... someone was here. It made no sense though. They were here to hunt pirates not Dark Jedi. Maybe the dark side was what had drawn Master Auron here. Had he hunted Dark Jedi in this corner of the galaxy? Was there a connection to the Black Admiral and his Dark Moon fleet?

The doors of the turbo lift opened and Lorn stepped out, his lightsaber in his hand. Thousands of life forms were out here and he had problems making out any specific, but he was feeling Oren was ahead of him and the boy was in danger.

He began running, pushing aside the people as he made his way to the Padawan in danger. But he knew he was too late. The Darkness was now burning inside the force, it almost felt as if it prepared to unleash it's power ... igniting his blue blade to make people move away faster he summoned the force to make himself faster. With a single jump he passed over a cart of an Sullustan merchant blocking his way and continued his way feeling the frantic need to protect the only comrade he had.

They pushed deeper into the crowd at a brisk pace, the woman trailing behind Oren and shuffling along in obvious protest. It took all of his willpower to not turn around and roll his eyes in a dramatic fashion. What was it about women that made them want to complain about everything? He wasn’t trying to hurt her; he wasn’t even trying to pamper her. He only wanted to keep her safe. Couldn’t she see that? The wraith – the source of the Dark Side energy that was pressing down on his very soul – had not only spotted him; it had taken a keen interest in the woman as well.

    Why?

That thought was cut short when the woman suddenly exerted her strength against him and ground herself to a halt. Oren’s arm overextended itself when she stopped before snapping back in a violent motion. The boy uttered a curse and shook his head to recover, hoping that she had not caused whiplash.

“What are you doing?!” she hissed through clenched teeth. She stared at him as if he had spouted two heads...or maybe she just thought he was crazy.

Oren gaped and flared his arms to express his frustration, a minor tantrum that served as a reminder that he was just a boy. But then again, he was also training to become a Jedi – he understood things that she couldn’t possibly begin to comprehend. The wraith, for instance...how could she be so ignorant?!

“I’m trying to help you!” he answered in the persistent whine of a teenager. His anger flickered briefly beneath his countenance, but it quickly abated when the raspy voice echoed from behind.

"I am no expert in the behavior of young scared Jedi, but I would say he was running from me."

Without thinking, Oren whirled and instinctively reached for the lightsaber hilt dangling from his belt. His thumb flipped the activation switch and the green blade shimmered to life with a snap-hiss to meet his opponent. Planting his feet, he situated himself in front of the woman to protect her, his dark eyes staring back into the rigid mask of the wraith. Somehow, he wasn’t surprised that it had found them. He knew it was only a matter of time…

A chill ran down his spine at that thought, lifting the hair on his arms and on the back of his neck, but he forced himself to remain strong. “What do you want? Who are you?” His left leg seemed to twitch with nervous anticipation.

Kalira leaned forward and they saw the second man, the one with a mask who looked not like a Jedi at all, except he activated a lightsaber. "Okay, looks like the Jedi have their own problems." She sighed and looked at Jenica. "Grande Plaza is five minutes away from the hangar. Let us move. We try to reach them if there is any chance while we pass through."

The comlink of Kalira crackled and it was Taun, her first mate. "We got company. Three big bad battleships just entered the system." He reported. Kalira sighed as she helped Jenica pack her equipment. "Warm the Lady up. We will be with you in a moment." She ordered Taun and looked at Jenica. "Let's hope the Republic cruiser buys us some time." She hissed and started running the second the last piece of equipment was stowed away.

The Wraith lowered his head and allowed his blue blade to circle in air twice. "I am here for her, but I take you as a bonus." He hissed through the breathing mechanism of the mask. Then he stepped forward and brought down his first series of quick attacks on the young Jedi with ferocious speed. His Cold anger burned in the force. Despite his mask hiding all emotions Oren could clearly feel the man's rage.

Lorn was halfway to Oren and the now burning dark presence at the far end of the Grande Plaza, when he suddenly saw a single black cube, not bigger than a fist, float in front of him. He immediately felt the danger of an imminent attack.

Theron Nox had found his first victim. The older and potentially stronger of the two Jedi had been rushing over the plaza alone when his droid had spotted him. Now he could see him through the crowd, the glowing lightsaber in his hand and identifying the young man for what he was. A Jedi Knight.

Near the Aton IV space station

The three destroyers of unknown design jumped out of hyperspace in perfect synchronicity, as if they wanted to demonstrate their power to use the technology that had failed for everyone else. Immediately they dispatched their fast fighter crafts and took course towards the single Hammerhead-class corvette between them and the station. They would be in shooting range of the enemy within a minute and with the confidence of superior fire power to a single Republic ship they dared a full frontal attack. Almost as if they did not expect the weapon systems of Aton IV to intervene with the battle ahead.
