Ok, as any avid Spidey fan would know, after the events of 'The Other' story arc spider-man has got a new costume designed by Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man.

Here it is in all its 'glory'.

    http://www.marvel.com

    (Just scroll down until'IRON SPIDEY')

Discuss what you think the new suit's like...

    If you like it

And if he should (and probally will) revert back to his old red and blue number.

Iron spidey, a new chapter in Spider-Man's history? Or yet another blunder by Marvel?

    Discuss.

Even JMS himself said it won't last past 2007, so I wouldn't get too attached/disgusted with this costume. It seems like it's just here to tie into "Civil War".

It doesn't seem like Spider-Man. "The Other" was overhyped. I thought someone would die, or Spider-Man would get a new mission in life, or maybe even Spider-Man would reveal his identity to the world. But it's just a new costume. Really, why make such a big 12-issue deal over a new costume?

Its just another way for them to sell more issues.

I'd be happier about the new costume if it was actually good.

The solution is to buy DC instead of Marvel.

I would rather keep the new costume than subject myself to the unfeeling, dead storylines that are churned out at DC.

    A Marvelite all the way!

I don't mind it when it looks like this.

    Without the tentacle arms.

    But this...

Makes me want to pull my eyes out.

I never really read Spiderman comics, but that costume, is silly. Why change Spiderman? He's Spiderman! Leave him alone!

Although I have to say, this is hardly as bad as turning Superman into a bright blue energy being that later split into a second red energy being half.

I would like it alot more if they just got rid of the tentacles.

Because he has a cool new suit and that is one of it's added functions.

Seriously why is everyone so afraid of this new suit?

    A) It won't last

    B) It's cool

    C) Keeping the old blue and red is nostalgic, yeah, but honestly whenever I read Spidey I picture him in that Silver-metal suit from the alternate universe in thpse animated series episodes (maybe a comic, I forget?). It's just way cooler. This new suit offers him new oppertunities and weapons to go along with his new powers.

I'm not a big fan of the new one, but I'll tolerate it for a bit.

Naw, Marvel is still doing fine with much of theirother stuff. I enjoyed the Other, for the most part, and Civil War has me interested.

I understand that over time they feel that Iconic superheroes need to change and grow with times or become stagnant. But have you ever really seen many of these changes actually last?

The end result of the Death of Superman was that he wore long hair for awhile after returning to life. The only change in Batman Knighfall was he stopped wearing his panties on the outside of his suit. The Punisher was killed off and resurrected as a god-awful real-life avenging angel, and Garth Ennis was wise enough to ignore it.

If you want growth, make a new character from the ground up. Leave the Icons alone.

The events of Knightfall still echo in Batman's world to this day.

No. If the characters behave in exactly the same ways and aren't effected by the world around them, why bother with new stuff at all? Why not re-read old stuff. Characters need to be shaken up. Stagnation just leads to bad writing. Gwen Stacy's died, Spideys a memeber of the Avengers, things change and thats good. Otherwise theres no point.

There are better things to improve on than Spiderman's costume. It' like when they made Gwen Stacy the mother of Norman Osborn's mutant twins. Or when Curt Connors had been in control of the Lizard all along. Some things shouldn't be bothered.

I guess I'm in the minority in that I really like the new costume. And it appears to have a real story purpose, rather than just being a change for the sake of change.

Also, I really find this new alliance between Tony Stark and Peter Parker to be quite intriguing. Can't wait for Civil War!
