After watching Marvel's sucess with their Movie Universe, DC comics and Warner Bros. have decided to create their own cinematic universe. Starting with the Man of Steel flick that came out last month (June 2013). Man of Steel 2 is already in the works along with a Justice League movie. Also at SDCC 2013 Warner Bros. will be announcing the first slate of stand-alone movies set in the universe.

    Some topics for discussion:

-Will CW's Arrow TV series and/or the recent Green Lantern movie be incorporated inth the DCCU?

-What comic arcs should used as future plots for movies?

-What should be the first phase of DCCU movies include?

-Who should be the villian be for the first Justice League movie?

-If Arrow is included what other TV shows should be made?

-What do you think of the Dark Knight trilogy not being included?

-Should there be video games independent of the movies in the universe?

May the Force be with you all and have a wonderful day or night.

Doesn't Arrow take place in the Smallville universe?

No, it does not. Right now Arrow is in its own universe.

That would imply there is cohesion in the property! ;)

Superman should fight Muhammad Ali in one of those films.

Evidence or it never happened. :D

No, stuff with "Green" in the title is apparently box office poison. Arrow has a nice, violent TV show with decent ratings and to preserve its success they're not going to put him in the JLA movie. Lantern's movie tanked largely because the concept works well in comics and animation, but is patently absurd when realized photorealistically with live actors.

I think the JLA: DOOM movie based on Mark Waid's Tower of Babel series would be a terrific way to introduce various heroes and villains, who then proceed to try to destroy or otherwise stop each other. Limit the heroes to Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Cyborg. (Hold back John Jones for sequels.) Some might consider five heroes vs. five villains overkill, but I think if handled well it could work.

None. That's Marvel's formula and doesn't necessarily translate to DC. They should go MOS--->MOS2--->JLA--->MOS3.

Metallo, Joker, Cheetah, Mirror Master, and Vandal Savage.

I'd love to see any number of DC Hero shows. A new Flash and Martian Manhunter would top my list.

Who says it's not? Fan speculation. MOS totally works inside the DK universe.

No comment and you have a lovely day/night/mid-morning of Force-wielding as well.

I just watched Doom recently and the way it handles a team of heroes does not inspire much trust. All of the characters have not only their parts downplayed significantly, but also their powers. If that's what a future JL movie would be, no thanks.

Um, Merlin? MOS doesn't just work inside the DK universe; it's in the universe.

That's part of the problem, no? The Dark Knight trilogy didn't lend itself to having someone of Superman's power sitting around without a LOT of handwaving. Unless you think MoS takes place after TDKR, which would omit the chance of a Christian Bale Batman...

There's no real cohesion to the plan, other than some nice, geeky references and name drops.

In Superman Returns they actually specifically made the attempt to show the Gotham chase and say "thing have gotten worse since you left" -- but in The Avengers there's no one like that sitting around. Thor was offworld, by design. Stark and Rhodey sort of cover some of why Rhodey didn't show up in NYC... :)

    But who would it be?

The only options were Cap and Hulk (Thor is offworld and SHIELD was shown to be involved). Hulk isn't viable, so only Cap who may be on a mission in the Middle East for all we know (like Rhodey was!)...

But yes, they're obviously fiction and Marvel is clearly taking the comic-book approach -- which I think will serve them well in the long-term -- rather than the "realistic" approach which doesn't' work when you mix people like Batman and Superman in power levels.

Not this one. It's a touch darker reboot than the Smallville Arrow, more in the vein of the CW's Vampire Diaries and Supernatural.

I did too. But I like Ryan Reynolds, I think he is pretty funny. I liked the way he portrayed the character. They were clearly going for the same vibe that Iron Man set but were second fiddle to RDJ's Tony Stark.

I had a fun time when I saw while hating it with a flaming passion that burns the fuel of a thousand suns. Mark Strong was so underutilized in that one.
