Man, I missed the whole Leto Joker fallout.

He's a good actor and I'm confident he can carry the part, but I'm also pretty confident I will never not think that "damaged" tattoo is stupid as hell. I'm a bit of a classic design apologist when it comes to costumes, though. Since it's an issue being mirrored by the Batfleck reveal, I'll also add that proof-of-concept still images against a white backdrop look like ass and I'll reserve final judgments for when I see things in motion.

 

I think, in part, the Joker's design is a clear attempt to distance this take on the character from Nicholson and especially Ledger. The campy Joker has been done, the gritty Joker has been done - so here's the flat-out crazy one.

This is a random aside, but my mom happened to be in Toronto and wandered past the Suicide Squad crew filming on location.

Where is the joker?

 

The squad looks terrific. Sure, I would love to see them look a bit more like their comic book counterparts, but in context of them being a suicide squad they nailed the look.

Anyone else have the feeling the Suicide Squad is tasked with killing the Joker? And how much Batman should we be expecting in the film?

 

I just wish they didn't go with the hypersexualized look but really have no issues with Robbie as she'll do her normal great job, I'd wager.

If that is the task, why would Harley join?

 

The Joker is going to, presumably, be a Hannibal Lecter-esque figure for advice within Arkham and not (presumably) the villain or a part of the team.

Because the alternative is staying in prison. The premise behind the squad is that they do these top secret, off-the-records missions for the US government in exchange for reduced sentences. The catch is they're entirely expendable, and if they disobey orders they have explosives planted in their necks that'll just kill them. So they basically have to succeed or die trying.

And I'll stop being the guy that says, "Well, actually" any second now.

I love That Harley has "Puddin" tattooed on her leg. She's looks quite good. Hope we see some sort of nod to the classic costume though.

Linked to the above image out of context, I genuinely thought those were bargain bin, order online, shady '90s web design Halloween costumes.

That's pretty much where my expectations for this movie are right about now.

 

That's Adam Beach as Slipknot, or so the speculation goes. It's unconfirmed who he's playing.

 

I'd actually probably bail entirely if that were the case.
