There is no TV show in existence right now to meet that criteria...

I did mean successful by CW standards, which admittedly, are not that hard to begin with considering they keep renewing Supernatural.:p

The Flash -- as The CW's most popular show by a landslide -- is drawing 1.5/1.6 share (or 1.6% of the total population of only 18-49 year olds in the US) and 4 million total viewers. That's... not going to stop a movie.

If they're forcing limitations, then why do they keep announcing new shows?

I wonder if this is the main reason why there is a delay in the Titans TV show, considering it will be featuring Nightwing, But then again, you have to consider Gotham and it's roster of Batman characters. But then again, again, Deadshot was killed off in Arrow.

It would be interesting to see if The Flash TV series end prematurely because of the cinematic version of the character takes priority. It would be more interesting if the Flash TV show is cancelled and the Flash movie is a flop.

Well, Deadshot's actually been killed off twice in Arrow. Ollie takes him out with an arrow to the eye in the guy's first appearance. His second death is as permanent as the writers want it to be - "He escaped at the last minute and let everyone think he was dead!" The Arrow writers have basically got an escape clause.

Though I will say Quest did bring up a fair point, and it got me thinking about Arrow's latest season - notice how, around the halfway point, Amanda Waller just stopped showing up? Kind of around the Suicide Squad movie's casting announcements? It's brand control, and it's not as overt as the Bat-embargo was, but it is there. At the same time, we still have Gotham and we have the Supergirl show, and they're probably more overt in their references and ties with major characters.

Time will tell, but I don't think keeping it all separated is a bad thing.

I think Gotham has gotten a slight pass because of its prequel nature and focus on Gordon instead of Bruce- there's very little overlap or chance of viewers confusing it with the older Batman we'll be getting next year, etc.

Well, "Smallville" stayed on the air despite "Superman Returns". It's unclear how long "Lois & Clark" would have lasted if it made it past season four and if "Superman Lives" was actually made and released as planned. So it is hard to say for certain even back then.

Speaking of Lois and Clark, that reminded me of how the TV show influenced the comic book series whereas the TV show was going to have Lois and Clark get married and which forced the comic books to kill that storyline and thus reader got The Death of Superman.

On anther note, they killed off Kitana on Arrow as well. Looks like the TV universe is having a mini-Crisis event.

    Uh,
Katana is still alive. She wasn't going to return to the US with Oliver and company.

It wasn't any different quality wise from the previous seasons. The fourth season went downhill due to the jerking around of the fans with the amnesia Lois/clone Lois arc during season three, as well as the fact that they married the characters in the fourth episode of season four. So audiences were tuning out by that point and thus the show had ended.

My bad. My memory failed me. It will be interesting if that character returns to Arrow in the near future.

Yeah I really like that costume. Also, a sword, shield, the bracelets, AND the lasso. I'll say this, Diana comes prepared.

I think he means the distinction between being cancelled due to ratings performance (or other factors) or being cancelled because the series came to a conclusion.

I gotta say, I read the spoilers for the latest DC comics hullaballoo at the end there (Convergence #8) and... it actually seems really interesting. As well as soooooooooort of giving DC comics the cover that they need for both the DCTVU and the DCU movies. But I'd be interested in hearing more how this plays out...

heels1785 -- have you been reading this? Thoughts?
