In other news, Aurora, Colorado shooter James Holmes has been sentenced to life in prison. For those who don't remember, Holmes opened fire on a premiere screening of The Dark Knight Rises, killing 12. During the sentencing, the big question was whether he'd get the death penalty or not - he avoided that and will be spending the rest of his life behind bars, which I personally feel is the right decision.

I think it's a very fitting and appropriate sentence, and I'm very glad that he didn't get the death penalty. After all:

 

This was a Batman impersonator. I have the issue somewhere and forget what actual batman was doing but that is not Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Long Halloween over Hush anyday.

 

Hush is a very disappointing arc, not to mention a completely nonsensical character.

 

Kinda surpassing they HAVEN'T adapted Long Halloween already. But yeah, even with Loeb being an absolute crap writer, TLH >>>>>> Hush.

 

I think the issue with Loeb is that his good stuff is good but gets overhyped, and his bad stuff is some of the worst shlock ever to come out of the Big Two. So he ends up not even feeling "swingy," which would maybe be a more proper characterization.

 

TLH sets the formula for Hush, and is by and large very enjoyable, if not brilliant. Tim Sale's artwork is what really sells it, to be honest.

Also, here's a serious question I have for everyone: why the **** is Hush called Hush? It makes no sense from a story perspective because at no point is the character called Hush, and the in-story justification is the flimsiest thing ever. His motivation is nonsensical, because when we first meet him he's clearly loaded rich, and there's not a single hint that maybe he's got some psychological issues.

 

Because having Jim Lee Art + every single Batverse character + 'shock twist' of Jason = $$$$$$ and uncritical fanboy love.

It looks pretty. But it's not a great Batman story.

 

Heart of Hush is much better imo.

 

Three Batman movies? Good grief, they're overestimating the success of DoJ greatly.

 

I thought there was always rumors of Affleck in three Batfilms anyways.

Never read the Long Halloween, but I hear it's a true detective story. It's on my list.

TDKR made worse business than TDK did. Then again, I didn't like TDKR, so I'm biased.

 

Fun seasonal vignettes tied together with an excuse plot, and one of the better origin stories for an iconic villain.
