I'm exploring songs by the Motels, realizing for years I only knew about two of their songs.
A co-worker got in my car the other day as I was playing "Rosanna" by Toto and he said he hadn't heard that song in a long time. I play '80s music everyday - it's just about all I play - so it seemed odd to me. That could also be why movies often have the big hit songs instead of stuff a little less known (yet from big-selling albums), because a lot of people just aren't always listening to the stuff.

Billy Vera is just an alias; he's actually Pinky Carruthers, one of Buckaroo Banzai's Blue Blaze Irregulars.

Retrowave. Not from the 80s, but based on the spirit and sound thereof.

"Thereof" is a pretentious word, but better than "foetus".

This week has been a total 80's music week. On Friday Alphaville played at a local music festival, and my sister bought me a ticket as a thank you for taking care of her cats for a couple of days. They basically played the whole first album, which was what the audience wanted (I was definitely on the younger side of the audience). Marian Gold can still carry the songs, and it looked like the whole band simply had fun on stage, but it wasn't exactly the best concert I've been to..

Then yesterday I saw A-ha in a wonderful outdoor arena not too far away. It was magical. The didn't just play their 80's tunes (I love their Lifeline album as well). I was a bit worried that it would be like Alphaville, but this was on a whole other level. The song that really stuck for me was Hunting High and Low, of course it was great to sing along to Living Daylights and Take on Me as well.
