Well, like I said, there is a difference, but it's a matter of size and variety of offerings rather than difficulty. [Junior or community colleges are different, in that they have two-year programs for lower-level associate's degrees, and there are technical colleges, but the distinction between these and four-year colleges is greater than the distinction between four-year colleges and universities.] One of the Ivy League schools, Dartmouth, is a college, and it's definitely more prestigious (and expensive) than most state universities.

First, oqi will come and close this thread. After a few days, she (or the new mod if one's been selected by then) will come and open the new one.

EDIT: And don't sweat the American terminology thing. We're going to call lifts elevators and flats apartments and kerbs curbs and spigots faucets and bin liners sweaters, and it's easier just to smile politely and allow us our Merkin idiosyncracies.

hey, MamaVader, just a simple question for my own edification - why is there that couple day wait between threads anyways?

 

A couple dozen possible names are chosen, and each one is assigned to a Japanese schoolchild, who then must all fight to the death on an island. It usually just takes that long for a winner to emerge.


EDIT: The idea came from an old episode of Mama's Family.
